My 80 year-old father and I visited Morocco in February/March, 2019 and hired Hassan for a customized tour for the portion of our trip that took us from Fez to Volubilis, and Meknes. There aren't many tours of Meknes, and my father grew up there, so we were looking for a very specific, non-touristy itinerary for much of our time there. Not only was Hassan an amazing and knowledgeable tour guide, but he assisted in fulfilling my father's dream of revisiting his childhood homes, helping us locate the houses after 35 years and many street name changes. Hassan was very thoughtful of my father's age and quirks, was accommodating, and very personable. We even hired Hassan for a quick tour of Casablanca and Rabat, which we hadn't planned ahead of time. Luckily for us, Hassan made the time to take us to the major attractions there as well. I can't thank Hassan enough for his hospitality, professionalism, and knowledge. He made a trip of a lifetime possible and an old man happy to revisit his youth. I would not hesitate to give Hassan my highest recommendation!

The village of Bhalil is really not on the beaten track of tourism in northern Morocco. It is a very charming village, with fairly well-kept houses, a seasonal river dividing it and covered with numerous bridges. When you climb up to the top, you will pass through the good parts of the Morocco that is about to disappear, where people work in the streets, making simple handicrafts or preparing crops of different kinds, all in a relaxed tone. The view from the top is beautiful, with a green valley and small hill tops. The cave houses in Bhalil stand next to ordinary "over-ground" houses, and there is no other difference between them than practical ones. Digging into the cave allows good conditions for keeping a home cool in summer and keeping the worst cold out in winter. The facades of the cave houses can therefore be easy to pass by, they do about the same decor work and put up the same walls in front as for the "over-ground" houses.

7. Overnight trip to the Blue town of Chefchaouen

Bouaouina Tours

This Moroccan jewel is the kind of place one discovers during their travel plans almost by accident but once discovered, it is hard to leave and harder to forget.I first heard about Chefchaouen in the bustling city of Tetuan a local taxi driver had convinced me that it was right. Situated high in the Rif Mountains, this charming city was founded in 1471,initially built as a small fortress ( which exists to this day) to ward off the Portuguese invaders who were intent on dominating northern Morocco.in 1920,the Spanish armies seized Chefchaouen and held it until 1956 when Morocco finally gained independence. The influence of the times gone by is still reflected in chefchaouen. The architecture today, for instance,is a heady mix of Moorish design flavored with the more ornate Spanish influence. Legend has is that Chefchaouen derived its name from the surrounding Rif range that resembles two chaouen or goat’s horns. The city lies between the “horns’ hence the name.

8. Full day Wine Tour near Meknes with lunch

Bouaouina Tours

In the middle of the vineyards and at the gates of Meknes, the Interior Architects Paul Sartres and JB Barian have imagined a whole in total harmony with the surrounding environment. The classic yet contemporary design, which combines natural and noble materials such as wood, leather, stone and polished concrete, makes this establishment a place dedicated to the art of living in the heart of the vineyards. Located in the wine estate “Château Roslane”, this jewel of charm and sweetness is a delight. The majestic entrance porch made of stone with its huge Moroccan door and copper hanging lantern, welcome you before arriving in the high ceiling lobby where there is a huge wrought iron chandelier forming leaves and bunches of grapes. Deep leather sofas, wooden coffee tables and patinated iron as well as the double-hearth fireplace bring serenity and authenticity to the whole.

Inclusions: Transport by private vehicle, Hotel pickup and drop-off, Driver/guide, Lunch, Variety of local wine tastings
