As a firm lover of art and architecture, I really liked this tour! I'm not a huge fan of cycling, but this way I had a much better experience when visiting Bruges. It would've been impossible to visit all these beautiful places in just one day. The guide was sublime. She told us many fun facts and amusing stories along the ride.

In the Bastogne War Museum there is an array of items related to the Battle of the Bulge (Bataille des Ardennes) and to the Second World War in general. There one can see tanks and other weapons used on both sides of that conflict, military uniforms, photographs, objects which used to be commonly utilized at the time of the War, such as some vinyl records, boxes, music scores, coins, box matches, toys and so on, as well as copies of books (Mein Kampf, for instance) and propaganda posters used at that time when radios and particularly TVs were not very common. Some vehicles used during the War are also exhibited at the Museum. Among them, there is an all-terrain one called VW82, nicknamed Kübelwagen, which was designed by Ferdinand Porche. It was used by the German army in the same way as the Jeep was by the American Army. It didn't weigh much and therefore, it was very easy to manoeuvre. One of the weapons displayed at the museum consists of a set of four machine guns, namely the Maxson type US gun turret. It was originally designed for antiaircraft defence but during the conflict concerned it was also used against the infantry causing massive damage on German troops. Thanks to clear texts, excellent visual supports and captivating scenography exhibited in the Museum one can learn a lot about the Second World War. Besides, during the visit it's possible to be accompanied by the voices of four different characters, to wit, an American corporal, a German lieutenant, a young teacher from Bastogne and a 13-year old schoolboy. That can of course add an extra insight into what can be there seen and read. Albeit those characters are fictitious they represent an amalgam of different people who really existed during that conflict. The different explanatory notes displayed in the Museum is also an excellent material to peruse during the visit in order to learn about some details concerning the situation in the divers countries involved in the War in question until the break out thereof and from the end of the First World War, as well as about some specific phenomena which took place in that period such as the rise of the fascism and the nazi party in Germany. The Museum allows therefore people to apprehend the context in which that conflagration sprang and went on, and is a good means helping current and future generations remember that bloody past and invite them to pay tribute to the ones who fought and the ones who lost their lives in the struggle for human freedom and dignity. The visit of that Museum is therefore highly recommended due to the undeniable interest of all the items there displayed which call up the tragic events having taken place in the middle of the past century, events which, despite their rueful nature and the loss of lives which ensued, is convenient to know due to the importance attached to them insofar as they changed the course of History.
