You could spend months exploring Taiwan’s Buddhist temples, villages, cities, and mountains and still barely scratch the surface of all the island has to offer. Here Confucius meets C-pop in a cultural mash-up of a place where traditional festivals are as important as hip-hop and cell phones. Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung each burst with opportunities to explore, learn, shop, and dine. Don’t miss breathtaking natural features like Sun Moon Lake, the hot springs of Tainan, and Taroko Gorge.

It is more like a Mingsu (not a villa to me) located above the mid level of Cingjing Mountain. The lady at the reception didn’t speak much though. Check-in was very swift. The entrance level is the restaurant that offered Yunnan cuisines. The rooms were located on level 2. Two levels only, served by a flight of stairs. We had to pull our luggage up the stairs, thankfully our driver as well as the staff from the Mingsu helped us. The rooms were dim, floors were timber-decked. Bathrooms were old-looking. Oh do be careful. Certain rooms have a step-up platform to the bed. This may not work for older people. So before you book, please specify clearly. Rooms have high ceilings though. Bathroom & room amenities were sufficient. During winter, we just opened our window slightly and the room was like 19 degrees! The bed had a heater! That was so helpful in the cold night! The walls were thin, we tried to be considerate & not to make much noise all the time. The hot water cooler is outside the rooms. We had our dinner here on our first night. It was delicious. We seek the help of the staff to order for us as we weren’t sure about their Yunnan cuisines. Most of the dishes were spicy but they could do without it. We were all satisfied! Good soups (tonic) & fresh vegetables that they planted at their garden. There is a 7-11 convenient store next to Sunshine Villa. It sells plenty of stuffs which we couldn’t find in other 7-11 anywhere in the rest of the places we went after this. Cars would stop here to get their necessities before moving off elsewhere. There is a tea shop, like a souvenir shop here. Their tea is tasteful, not those thick ones that land me sleepless for nights. I bought their sourcprunes to make prune tea. The teabags can be found in the rooms as well. The breakfast here was good. All healthy stuffs except their usual stew pork (minced) which goes very well with rice or porridge. My family & relatives had a good start of the day before we climbed He Huan Mountain! The view from the restaurant veranda was nice. The Mingsu has an organic garden/farm and the staff looked after the produce closely. My relatives didn’t mind going back for a stay come this winter:))It is more like a Mingsu (not a villa to me) located above the mid level of Cingjing Mountain. I booked a family room for 6 pax on 2nd floor. Once in the room, you will find a double bed with bathroom and balcony. Two double bed at higher floor with small and steep stairs, and small space for sitting and maybe for star gazing. The private balcony is facing mountains, so beautiful during sunrise. The morning fresh and cold air worth it all. The breakfast is super plain, only porridge, egg, begs and bread. Rooms are different based on floors, all floors without lift. The hotel itself is down a steep hill. Walk able to Little Sweden and 7Eleven but better to take car. The view in private balcony worth it all.

We couple 2 nights stayed at this villa, although the room is not very big & without balcony, it is acceptable for 2 person for a short stay. Room with all facilities such as air-conditioner,free-wifi, refrigerator, TV and general accessories etc, bed is comfortable, clean and high pressure water shower. Villa provided free tea , coffee & water machine at the public area for guests on 24 hrs services. Staff are very nice, she offered us a details of briefing of sightseeing, traffic & where to look around at Kenting. The warm breakfast provided starting at 8:30-10:00 am. food are simple with some drink or coffee. The design of this villa is very attractive likely the building of island in Greece. Location is near main street for 3 minutes walk. Kenting is a beautiful town & valuable for tourists visiting.

Strong toilet stench in the room. Bathroom (shown in photos)- a Little too shabby for a price like this. I paid 2160NT for 1 night. It’s ok for just a night stay. But I will not recommend if you’re very particular . The power sockets are loose, it’s hard to support an adapter. Lights are pretty dim for my liking. The good- hot/cold water dispensers are easily accessible , they can be found outside the rooms. I definitely wouldn’t recommend.

Bed & Breakfast
Think it is a bit overprice for a rather basic accommodation. Breakfast was also basic, typical Taiwanese porridge. Sliced bread was only other option. Staffs are helpful though. Rooms toilet and shower is not clean. Quite disgusting dirty grouts. Otherwise rooms are big and ok. Would have been nice if they provide dinner (more value) and dropoff at attractions (was charged NT200 for them to pick up us when there was no more public transport). Can definitely find better value accommodation in Cingjing with dinner and transport.

if you self drive, then this hotel is best for you..many different hot spring pools.our stay, they gave us a free ticket to the public and naked pool.you wont even get bored.breakfast spread is nice too.but some ants in the restroom, but maybe bec.the hotel is in the mountain..the hotel pillow is very high and not comfortable at least for me. be sure to waer proper swim wear with cap,or else u cant enter the public spa. i just wish the management will provide a shuttle from lingding park where the bus from chiayi stops here to go to the hotel..the walk is 15 min,but if you have luggage its so tiring since the road is elevated..no taxis there. plus the sun or if its raining, its hard to walk there.

We got lost to find the property. Luckily the staff from the Cingjing farm help us out. She direct us to a small road going upwards next to the Cingjing area. The host is very friendly and gave us a lot of information eg. the activities in Cingjing farm etc. And we feel very welcome. Though there is a language barrier, he still try as much to communicate with us in English. Check in is only after 2pm. So you can spend your time to go to the Cingjing Farm first if you come too early. The room is super spacious and they provide the basic necessity, eg. towels, mineral water. You can get hot water outside the room, near to the seating area. Bed is comfortable, however only 1 of the bed got the electric heater. Nice scenery outside the balcony and also behind the property. You can even see the sunset. Breakfast is simple and sufficient for us. The host also help us to arrange trip to Hehuanshan to watch the sunrise. The price is very affordable. Overall, everything is good. Will recommend this place.

Staying at the house 15 is so relaxing that you do not have the slightest idea to step out of your house door. The property is well maintained. We were the only guests on that day. Even if we were not, disturbance from other guested was virtually unlikely due to planting design. The only weakness is food. There was no on-site restaurant.

To any Westerner looking at places to stay: the Orient Luxury Villa Hotel is, at it’s core, a Love Hotel. Since most Taiwanese live with their parents until they get married, if you want private time alone with your boyfriend/girlfriend (or illicit lover...) you rent a few hours at a Love Hotel. My wife and I booked the Orient Luxury Hotel not knowing that it is a Love Hotel (which my wife found HILARIOUS, btw). The room was very clean and stylish. The bathroom included a jacuzzi with “rain maker” (a large shower head over the jacuzzi). the bathroom/shower/jacuzzi area was at least as large as the bedroom. The decor was unique and attractive! There were also families here despite the ... “toys” / “marital aids” ... for sale in the vending machine in the private garage attached to our room. I’m guessing many who come here don’t have a lot of luggage, so unsurprisingly there weren’t luggage racks or closets to hang clothes. There was a refrigerator and electric kettle. The location is a little out of town so Uber Eats wouldn’t deliver, but Food Panda did. My only real complaint was breakfast. We were assigned a time to eat (not complaining about that) and when we got there the little dining room was packed. We were given a table in a corner. The buffet had ten or twelve different items to choose from, but many were cold from sitting out. Maybe if you get the early setting the food is fresh and hot? For us it was neither. It’s too bad because there was ample selection, but after trying a few cold dishes (cold eggs? Ick!) I didn’t bother with any others. I would give the accommodations 4 stars, but the underwhelming breakfast drops the overall score to 3 stars.
