In this lush, tourist-friendly southern state, positioned between the Arabian Sea and the Western Ghats, beaches, waterfalls, rice paddies and verdant green hills create a postcard-perfect landscape. Houseboats traverse its many waterways, providing an intimate look at its rural terrain. Rejuvenation programs through Ayurveda (alternative, natural medicine) are popular here; the cool June and mid-October monsoon seasons are considered ideal for healing therapies.

The hosts are amazing and really doing everything to make you feel like you want to stay for ever. The place is small, really clean and beautiful interior. The food is cooked with love and is delicious. The beach is just 5 min away, totally empty when we were there in mid April. The area around the stay is very walkable and if you would like to take a short run i the morning, then finishing off with a relaxing swim in the beautiful swimming pools before breakfast. Would recommend anyone to stay here, the kids enjoyed is as much as we did. Amazing to find Swedish books to read during the day in the reception. Thanks Densi and Alwyn!

We booked this resort after looking at the website and apparently rave reviews about this place. Little did we know that this was the worst decision we made. A day before checking in I was told that there was no wifi available in the villas we had booked! The only place they had wifi was in the lobby. Not a good thing to hear in the last minute and should have been disclosed upfront at the time of booking. On the day of checking in, we finally made it to this place through some rough roads. The last few kilometers leading to this resort are NOT cemented. Again- not disclosed. The property manager handed us the keys to the villas and we were shocked to see big mosquitoes in the rooms and toilets. There were ants on the walls and there was a distinct smell coming from the rooms as though these rooms had not been used for weeks! We were thoroughly disappointed- and to add to that, there was only one ceiling fan - no A/C. - Surprise! The biking paths are so rough that there is no way you could use the bicycle without hurting your butt. The swimming pool was dirty. There was cow-dung smell coming from around the poolside. We were here with our family and kids and we found these conditions totally inhabitable. When I spoke to the property manager and reservations team, I was told that they would take care of the mosquito problem - again, a hotel shouldn’t have to wait until someone complains about these things - they should have all been addressed before arrival to make for a comfortable check-in experience. I wish I had booked another hotel: we checked out the same day and went back to Kozhikode. There was no refund offered. Overall, a terrible experience at this resort.

Marari Villas offers 'Boutique Serviced Villas' on beautiful Marari Beach in Alleppey, Kerala and has 3 serviced private pool properties: 'Orchid', 'Hibiscus' and 'Frangipani'. These villas are adjacent to each other, each have private pools and are 300m from the beach with a private beach area. Each of our villas is serviced by a team of villa host, chef, housekeeper and caretaker/security and are the PERFECT option for a Covid-safe Isolation, Staycation and Workation Holiday in Kerala.
Upon arrival in India from the US, I was required to quarantine for eight days. My travel company suggested doing it at Marari Villas, and they could not have picked a better spot. I stayed in Frangipini and it was both comfortable and beautiful. The A/C and wifi worked like a charm, and the beautiful garden and pool were delightful in the early morning and afternoon. The food, served three times a day, was fresh and bright and a widely varied, which is important when you are eating every meal there for eight days! The staff, led by George and Mr. Lal, was polite and responsive. The fresh flower arrangement each day in each room was a special treat. And kudos to the wonderful man at the beach who cleaned a stretch every day and put out an umbrella and lounge chair for me Thank you all. You made what could have been a painful confinement a pleasure.

Tucked away in a little village in Varkala, Villa Ākāśa is a peaceful guesthouse, surrounded by nature and just a few minutes’ walk from a beautiful, untouched beach. We offer three elegant rooms which have their own private verandas.
I am a fan of homestays and when I first saw pictures of Villa Akasa, I was like this seems like my place and I was right. Shama has made a beautiful place, the whole place is filled with lots and lots of plants. Rooms that are filled with sunlight and washroom that let the nature in. A complete nature paradise. Pramod makes the yummiest food, fan of his parathas and coffee. He is a very patient caretaker who took good care of us. Yako and Sophie are two beautiful dogs of Shama who keeps the fun alive in the property, very very friendly dogs. A cafe is right in front of home that offers access to the beach, at no cost. So, just few miles away from the beach. if you are looking for a homelike stay at Varkala, that is the place for you!

Illikkal kallu, kattikkayam waterfalls and ilaveezhapoonchira are nearby. You need to order food in advance and they serve really authentic north Indian food. Set deep in the lush womb of a tropical rainforest on the slopes of the Western Ghat mountains, Adithya Nature Resort –where the primal forces of nature come alive on a landscape lush with rain trees, a fascinating array of fauna and flora, alive with a symphony of birds calling out, barking deer, the trumpeting of an elephant and so much more. A sensory journey in every aspect, exult in communion.
Positives - The location is good, accessibility is also fine. The resort have a natural ambience with lots of trees. Bathrooms reasonably good. Have indoor game facility which has carrom & chess. Negatives - We had opted for Diamond Double Bedroom villas, As we had two family with kids. The rooms were stinky with fungus smell, the floors were not mopped, the sofas were unclean / torn. Overall the accommodation facility is substandard, unhygienic and pathetic. Had asked the front desk to change and provide a fungus free room, which they couldn't as bookings were full. - Balcony again is not clean, monkeys keep roaming on the balcony. No views from balcony as tall trees are around. - Staff is not experienced. No arrangements for luggage handling. Staff were not happy to get the bags to the room and were insisting us to carry ourselves. - Parking facility is limited and not properly managed, taking the vehicle out when required is a difficult task as people parked blocking the way. - Restaurant has limited option menu. Drinking water provided was unhygienic in bottle with algae on the base. Had shown this to the restaurant manager and just had a sorry face. - Badminton court is a name sake one with just a net, ok for tossing the shuttles. Swimming pool is small, monkeys also takes bath in that.

Mayas Beach House is a boutique serviced villa. The location is remarkable. Nestled in a coconut palm grove in amongst an Indian fisherman’s village it gives a real flavor of authentic Indian life. The beach is stupendous with Chrystal blue water at the lap the Beach House. The surrounding area is peaceful, quiet and clean and this adds to the enjoyment of the stay.
I had an overall wonderful experience at Mayas Beach House. The place is very clean and neat . The ambience is spectacular and serene. The host, Mr Kishore was very hospitable, very kind, polite and cordial. He personally came and ensured that we were comfortable, all our needs were met and when there were any issues, he proactively took measures to sort it out. I would recommend this place to anyone who wishes to go for a nice weekend getaway or for a good holiday.
