Incredibly Hospitality

Reviewed By zachcG3264OS

We went to Octopus Resort for our honeymoon and unfortunately tested positive for COVID on arrival. As per Fiji Government rules, we had to isolate for 7 days. This left us scared as we were in a foreign country and forced to completely rely on our hotel for food/medication/testing etc… We could not have found ourselves in better hands. The folks at Octopus made us feel at home, bringing food and medication to us whenever we needed. They had a plan in place and were very organized. The food was great and the beachfront Bure that we stayed in was beautiful as well. We particularly liked the outdoor shower. I want to give a special shoutout to Tiffany, Jeff and Jimbo along with the rest of the staff that made our stay so enjoyable during these challenging circumstances. We hope to return to enjoy the full amenities of Octopus Resort soon!

Was a good Hotel to stay but loosing its touch

Reviewed By Rockylee143

Hotel is getting rundown by locals staying there as they have parties in the rooms at nights with lots of noises. Also during the day there is major construction work happening beside the hotel which will be bothersome if you need a rest as noises will not allow you to have a nap. Waited for nearly 2 hours and after a 2nd call to get room service dinner. I really used to love this hotel but May have 2nd thoughts about staying here while visiting Fiji.

Most Gratifying and Romantic Trip in our Lives

My wife and I have been fortunate enough to experience some memorable getaways all over the world - Patagonia, Japan, Hawaii, France, and across the US and Canada. No place can match Natabe for its natural beauty and the care and warmth generated by Col and Nicky. This by far, has been the most romantic and idyllic holiday we have experienced. The location is unbeatable - an entire 500 meters of private beachfront set on 5 acres of manicured grounds. Sand and gentle waters at both high and low tides offering all day swimming, lounging, or just enjoying the sun. The meals measure up to the best we have had in Paris, Rome, New York, and Tokyo. Nicky pours her heart into ensuring that your dining experience will be both memorable and mouth watering. She will subtly ask what you enjoy and then, voila, you will be blown away with what she prepares. Col is there for answering any questions about Fiji or as your personal valet for any water excursions. We found him to be on one of the classiest gentleman we've encountered in the hospitality industry. His stories about the construction of Natabe are memorizing, and while off the grid, you will have all the creature comforts of home thanks to Col. In summary, the setting, food, privacy, and heartfelt caring is without peer. This is a perfect place for couples or small groups of friends looking to reconnect with each other and unplug from the daily grind. While Col and Nicky are on property, you will only notice them if you need assistance. That said, you will love your time with them and leave as honorary citizens of Tavewa and Natabe.

Ratu Kini Dive Resort

1st PADI introduction dive and island trip to Monuriki

Reviewed By widdysnz

Stayed at Mana Island Resort but used Ratu Kini Dive shop for our excursions. Did my very first scuba dive with Divemaster Nico and Captain Joe just off Sunset Beach - was 12M down looking up at the wall and sealife in 20 minutes. Even though the experience is a little daunting (read quite unnatural) I felt completely safe and really enjoyed it. Steff (my better half) was able to come out on the boat and snorkel above us while we were under, We also went out to Monuriki Island (where Castaway was filmed) with Captain Ba, Guide Moss and Rose. Trip is around 9km over open sea and there was a bit of chop . Again felt completely safe as Captain Ba navigates this route twice a day and knows it better than the back of his own hand. Moss was an absolute riot on the way out and back and kept us laughing the whole time. The island is a great snorkelling spot - Steff saw a huge squad of squid that enveloped her while swimming - a unique experience. Can't comment on dive opportunities as I was an absolute beginner but did see they have 34 dive sites and many boats. They also seemed to be more flexible and the staff enjoyed a joke. Recommend you check them out.

Quiet, simple and friendly

Korovou is a great spot to visit on your tour of the Yasawa islands - we stayed in the down season so it was very quiet - although a large group was staying there on the way back. Simple accommodation - power doesn't stay on 24/7 but really only needed for charging devices. Great range of activities you can choose to participate in - very friendly staff including Abu who was a great entertainer! Food was served up to you in piles so you didn't go hungry (unless you didn't like what was served). Pool was in process of being cleaned and stocks of beer/soft drink were low (restocked during our visit though). Snorkelling activities great!

Worst Travel Experience EVER!!

Reviewed By ThePaintedGypsy

This may have been a visibly beautiful place, but our experience on the island and with the tribe was NO vacation. The boat arrangements to get to the island were disorganized and they had been dishonest about the cost of the boat fare and the time it takes to get to the island. If you are lucky enough to find a local boat for cheap, its 9 hours in an unsafe dingy across the ocean to the island. Or, like we ended up having to do, it's roughly $120 USD one way, apiece, to take the boat ferry. Oh, and its a four hour ride. We walked a good mile and a half from the boat to our village. We couldn't get our luggage until hours later and just trust that it was safe. In the meantime, we had asked to pitch our tent, but instead we were forced to sleep in the bure which was filled with bedbugs. We were covered in bites by the next morning even after stacking the beds in one corner and sleeping on the floor. Also, the women in the village are not regarded as the men. They are sub-servant and this is not a topic up for discussion. It was obvious that women are not exactly welcome in the same way men are here. Most of the men wouldn't even acknowledge me. We were horribly uncomfortable and ended our stay after just three days there. We paid in advance for a ten-day stay and none of our money was refunded to us. This whole experience felt like a tourist trap and it would've been completely unsafe for a women traveling alone. Save your money and go somewhere else.

Nausori Airport Hotel

Absolutely disgusting

Reviewed By 856elishad

Stayed here with my family from the 23rd of December 2019 until the 6th of January 2020. Only picked this hotel due to it being close to the airport and family. The hotel was out of power for 5 days due to a cyclone warning. I would think this hotel would have a back up generator but no they did not!! We slept during the hot December nights without an running air-conditioner and we couldn't open our windows for safety precautions. We lost 5 nights worth of sleep as we woke up early in the morning from sweating and being uncomfortable. The hotel had a small generator but the owners were keeping it to themselves! We saw this as we wanted to charge our phones and saw an extension cord running all they way to their own room. Almost leaving us in the dark but only providing us with a small light between the 4 of us. When we requested if we could get some sort of discount due to the hassle of no power for 5 days, we were only discounted $50!!! and we paid $200 for a night!!!! The hotel had a pool but they were charging outside customers $5 each to use the pool for 2 hrs. I thought the pool was for the hotel guests and i never once saw the pool free for my own use as a hotel guest!!!I was very disappointed. I've provided some photos of how the rooms are. Absolutely disgusting and the female owner is absolutely rude! There was blood on the walls! Fridge not cleaned! The shower walls dirty and full of dust and the lock was flimsy and had no protection at all. Would never stay here again!!
