Famous for its luscious beef and crisp, pure sake, the Japanese port of Kobe is a thriving metropolitan city with an international feel. The sake-brewing season runs from October through April, and that's the best time to take a tour of a kura (the Japanese word for brewery). Visit the Hakutsure Sake Brewery Museum year-round. Naturally, the nightlife here is prime perfection.

Gorgeous property, very friendly snd polite staff, delicious omakase food, in room hot spring bath! What more can you ask for? Maybe a better price since it is definitely quite expensive. But you DO get what you pay for. Make sure you visit the public onsen as the experience is amazing!!

The smallest boutique hotel in Arima Spa resort, admired for its unique relaxing Japanese Spa atmosphere.Located by the side of the stairs of Arima Onsen Temple, the Ryokan-like hotel offers a unique combination of Japanese sense of Beauty and convenience of the modern hotel system. The building is old Japanese wooden style, with dimly lit corridors that suffuse a warm atmosphere, inviting you to relax and enjoy the facilities in all intimacy.
Overall, my overnight stay was pretty good. In terms of other ryokan I have stayed, this one is average, but still better than a lot of other hotels around the world. The room was clean (spotless), comfortable, and had everything I needed. My room was at the end of the hall and, because of the location, the wi-fi was non-existent. To use the wi-fi, I hung out in the lobby. The lobby didn't have lounge chairs or anything like that. It was just a couple of chairs. There are two bathrooms with hot spring water and the two are shared by the eight rooms in the building. They advertise that you can use the bath in the main hotel in another building, but they're only available until 8pm. The availability is useless since the dinner meal will also end at 8pm. I guess you can use those facilities during the day. Dinner and breakfast was very good, but not stunning. (I was expecting Michelin Bib Gourmand or 1-star at least.) The staff was very helpful in arranging a taxi to take me to the famous night views on the mountain and explaining the facilities when I checked-in. On check-out, I received the usual Japanese hospitality. Would I stay here again? Probably not. At this price, I would try my luck at another ryokan and experience something different. If I could, my overall rating would be 3.5 stars so I rounded up.

Goshoboh was founded 800 years ago and is the oldest inn in the spa town of Arima, an exceptional spot with astonishing brick-coloured waters. «Gosho», which means «imperial palace», is an echo of the long, feudal era when the establishment was reserved for the nobility. It has maintained its renown and high quality. The region's excellent Kobe beef is also served here.
We decided to book this onsen hotel based the rating given. The Hotel is located right next to the Arima bus terminal. We can access the arima onsen region either from Kyoto or from Osaka via Hankyu express bus. Once you step into the hotel, you step into history. The hotel does not have a lift, and access to your room is by stairs. All our luggage were sent out to our respective rooms by them. You need to take off your shoes before entering the hotel. Slippers would be provided for you. You would realise that time has stopped at its hotel doorstep. As we were there during weekends, there were street performances across the street. We booked a room with garden view. Both rooms share a nice garden. The onsen for the sexes is divided by a low wall. The onsen is refreshing and intimate. It has a boutique feel to the hotel. Both our breakfast were a fine dining experience with produces from neighbouring areas. This also applied to our dinner on the second night. Most cafes in the arima onsen are closed by 5 pm. Having a late dinner is quite difficult if we are travelling with oldies and teenagers. We may need to patronise the 7-11 for a quick bites. Lunch is not an issue.

Loved the hot springs here, went in 2016, this review is long overdo! Would come back here again, highly recommended! In a very quaint area, all staff are extremely friendly and helpful/hospitable. Had no problem getting around with our limited Japanese!

This Japanese-style hotel is located on a hill overlooking the Arima hot spring resort and Mt. Rokko, where guests can enjoy the magnificent landscape from comfortable guest rooms. Choraku also offers both "golden" and "silver" hot springs from private sources to fill the communal spas and open-air baths. The expertly prepared kaiseki course cuisine served here features delicacies like authentic Kobe Beef and the freshest seafood from nearby Akashi. Cuisine Rating 4.5/5.0!! Delicious meals are served in-room for both dinner and breakfast. Enjoy dishes carefully prepared one by one made with local ingredients including seafood from Akashi and Tamba vegetables. Hot Springs Rating 4.5/5.0!! The only place in Arima with coveted Golden and Silver springs. These two types of spring water are pumped into the large communal baths and open air bath "Kunugi-no-yu) for a total of 10 baths. Kunugi-no-yu has a standing bath, and a sauna is equipped in the large communal baths. The hotel's friendly hospitality *Staff will drop you off to the Arima Onsen area as many times as you like. (The onsen area is about 15 minutes away on foot) *In the afterbath area, handmade sweets and tea service are available from 15:00-19:00.
The onsen both indoor and outdoor were excellent! I especially enjoyed the outdoor wooden one! The room was super spacious and clean. Before my trip, I was worried about this horel not having non-smoking rooms. But it was not a problem at all. There was no smoking smell in our room. The food was nicely presented and decorated.

We stayed here one night for a family event. The Onsen was extremely small and could not accommodate more than 10 people that we had to be standing and waiting after we took all our clothes off to use the body washing area in the Onsen. This was quite annoying. There were also foreigners with bathtowels wrapped around their bodies in the bath. We noticed there were many foreigners but almost no signage/information to tell them how to use the Onsen facility properly. It was extremely unsanitary. The hotel should make efforts to teach and guide them. Another thing to note. While we were sitting and relaxing outside Onsen to get cooled off after we finish bathing, a male staff came and turned off all air conditioning. The Onsen was still open at that time and there were many more people still bathing. It could have been his routine but he could have been more considerate. Our stay was not enjoyable nor relaxing. We stayed in this hotel once, a long time ago and it was a better place then. The service has definitely gone bad. The food was nothing special. It is definitely not worth the money and so we will never come back.

We have booked luxury Japanese room with private open-air hot spring bath for a day. The room is very nice, you can experience how comfortable of the traditional Japanese style tatami. Also, the dinner and breakfast are delicious, you can choose 3-4 time slot to enjoy room service from Arima Onsen. The most important is we can enjoy our private open air hot spring bath anytime, it was awesome you can relax and breath fresh air from a small garden. A small accident happened during we leave Arima Onsen, we found we lost our scarf and wristband when we back Osaka already. Arima Onsen helped us to keep our stuffs and sent back it to our countries, we are so thankful for their kind assistance.

I spent one night in this cozy hotel in Japanese style room. I had a good time in this simply comfort style room. We booked the room during golden week therefore we had paid very high prices but since we enjoy everything here, its worth to pay. Not many tourists in the hotel so we got the real Japanese experiences. Onsen was very good, well maintenance and 5 styles available for relax. Not many engish speaking staffs but the 2 I met were very helpful. Japanese set dinner was amazing, and services are very high appreciated. The guy at restaurant is very polite& helpful. Your services made us feel like home. The location is good as it is not in the cluster zone, we can enjoy our cozy private balcony. We took 15 mins walk from rope way, not far because we can enjoy the environment (there were shuttle bus services) And we can just cross the street to enjoy the Arima small town. It was the best relaxing time of mine. Thank you The Maple.

We visited here in a group of 4 with 2 seniors among us. To better take care of the seniors (as they don't understand Japanese and are not fluent in English), we have booked a big room with private bath so that we could stay in the same room for the night. The environment of the premises is great and we got a good view from our room (facing the mountain). The staff are nice and helpful. No need to worry if you don't speak Japanese, the staff at the front desk are fluent in English! We had our dinner and breakfast in our room. The food are so delicious that we can't stop eating even we are already full. The onsen is very good too. We, the younger couple, have booked the private bath at 2/F (which you could use for 40 mins) while the seniors could use the private bath in our room. Both are very relaxing!

I can't fault this hotel. It may not be as fancy as some but this hotel is a genuine Japanese experience, with a beautiful mineral hot spring right in the hotel. On cold mornings and evenings, it is glorious. I included the Breakfast and Dinner set in my accommodation booking, and the staff and the food were faultless. The language barrier was more than overcome by the willingness of the staff to meet every need that you could hope for.....they were the genuine example of Japanese hospitality and warmth. Genuine tatami Japanese room was relaxing and very clean, with attentive room attendants. Overall value for money, with an genuine Japanese experience that money can't buy. The township of Arima is beautiful, but this hotel is located at the top of the mountain, providing a picturesque view of the town and the surrounding nature. Just wished I had booked a room on the upper floors (above level 4) to enjoy the view more. Thanks for such a wonderful insight into the Japanese onsen culture.
