If you are looking for an active place to stay with world-class attractions, Ohio’s major cities can satisfy any vacation desire. Each offers its own distinct flavor of fun, from professional sports – Bengals (Cincinnati), Cavaliers (Cleveland) and Indians (Cleveland again) – to museums, outdoor activities and more. One of the most famous is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. If football is your thing, don’t miss the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton. For the science-minded, visit the meat eaters at the Carnivore Conservation Center in the Wilds near Cambridge, dedicated to the breeding and scientific study of endangered mid-sized carnivores. Kids will also love Planet Snoopy in Sandusky or the Columbus Zoo’s Zoombezi Bay Waterpark and Jack’s Landing rides.

This resort/ Lodge has many amenities on dry land as well as the water park! Lots of activities to do from basically 9:00am -9:00pm which trust me your kids (my 5yr old) will tire out before you have a chance to do everything on the schedule! The extra $$ to pay to enter the waterpark early is worth every penny, the $$ for late checkout is not. Keep that in mind. Hotel is probably one of the cleanest I’ve been in, considering it’s also been around for quite some time, you cannot tell! Sadly the meal deal packages are worth it if you plan on eating on the premises, as it’s very pricey! The wolf passes are worth every penny and tons of fun for your little ones. (They don’t tell you this, but to get the free bowling you have to go to the arcade prize counter to get a special coin) Overall yes it’s a pricier vacation when looking, but I assure you, you pay for what you get and here what you get is priceless memories. It will be our new annual vacation spot.

Room was filthy. Last hotel I’d ever stay in. I’d try and find another hotel and use the water park if possible. Water park was fun. I think they allow one day passes- if so that would work so you don’t have to stay in the rooms.

Landoll's Mohican Castle provides a boutique hotel experience in central Ohio. The Castle contains uniquely designed suites with fine furnishings that fit the style of an old world castle. In addition, there are four adjoining suites in a separate building called the Highland Suites. Finally, there are two free-standing cottages. The Highlands and cottages have been built to fit the theme of the large suite rooms that are featured in the Castle. New in 2018! The Stables at The Castle features new suites! The Castle Event Center is the largest of its kind in the Mohican-Loudonville area, seating up to 200 people in banquet-style seating. The Event Center and The Copper Mug Bar & Grille restaurant recently hosted a filming by a Gordon Ramsay television show. The result of this experience was a complete redesign of the menu for the restaurant and wedding events.
I visited recently with my kids (age 9 and 12) and some other relatives. We booked rooms in the Stables. There was a nice outdoor patio area that was very quiet for us to visit together in the afternoons in a natural setting. There was also a quarter mile trail from the Stables to the cemetery and pool house that the kids enjoyed hiking every day. The pool was really nice with an interesting little grotto area and the hot tub was very clean. The game room also kept us busy on a rainy day with pool, foosball, darts, etc. The scenery overall is so calming and peaceful. The rooms were very spacious, my only complaint was that it felt quite damp in the room. We enjoyed multiple meals at the Copper Mug - the service was so friendly and accommodating to my vegetarian restrictions, they made it a point to make me something that I'd like. The vegan scramble on the breakfast menu was fantastic. There was a nice lighted trail between the Stables and the restaurant. Everything was so walkable and the kids enjoyed exploring the grounds. As an added bonus, my kids enjoyed researching some of the ghost stories. It was truly perfect as far as a gathering place for extended family with beautiful little spots to gather together.

Hotel was clean. Room was clean. Hotel staff was super friendly! Lenny at the front desk was super helpful and gave us great recommendations for food and what to do when we had some downtime. The room was a basic room. We didn't swim but there was a pool outside. They had a breakfast room and plenty of places to sit outside the breakfast room. Nice place.

The credit card that was used to book the reservation got hacked, and after getting a new credit card, the new card was also hacked after making the final payment at hotel. We were suppose to stay at the resort Friday & Saturday, but due to bad weather we found out at 8:00am Friday morning that the only boat going to the island was the Miller Ferry which also cancelled trips to PIB after 11:30am. That left us with no options to take a boat in the afternoon for our 4:00 check-in time. Called resort for a refund, we were told no refund because a boat made trips to the island. We talked to others that had reservations at other hotels on the island and they were able to get refunds. We did make it to the resort on Saturday, the resort advertised it was Spring Fling week and they would be serving dinner and drinks on Friday and Saturday and send-off breakfast on Sunday. Dinner was cold, buns were hard, drinks were limited to the number of tickets we were given at check-in and there was NO breakfast on Sunday.

Located just a short drive from Cedar Point and Cedar Point Shores, the newly renovated Castaway Bay is an indoor waterpark oasis that features a 38,000 sq. ft. tropically themed water paradise along with a variety of rooms and suite combinations that each feature a mini-fridge and microwave. Children’s activity programming, an outdoor pool and a fitness room are just some of the additional amenities of this waterfront property. The hotel features a Quaker Steak & Lube restaurant along with a deli serving Starbucks coffee, breakfast buffet and snack shack.
Pros: The water park was nice, even if it was small. My kids enjoyed it. The arcade has some fun games, although it’s A LOT of scammy crane machines. Cons: For the amount of money we paid, we expected at the very least a clean room. The floor was grimy and showed on your socks within a few footsteps into the room. Only 1 of the 2 USB ports on the bedside lamps worked, so our phones were dead the next day when we were at the park. Cable was non-existent despite them giving us a placard with channel listings. The construction crew must have forgot to put baseboards in the bathroom; the rest of the room had them. There was a hole in our ceiling from what I presume a small access panel that was never covered. They don’t have housekeeping. I was informed when I talked to the front desk that you have to request it. First I’ve ever heard of this type of policy, and judging from the other reviews here, it’s a lost cause to even request it. The breakfast was mediocre. The eggs lacked flavor, the bacon was overly greasy, and the bagels that they put out were rock hard.

I arrived last night with my family of 6 to celebrate my sisters 30th birthday and was looking forward to walking into hotel breakers. Much to my disgust as we arrived the hallways were littered with trash and doors all down the hallway were taped shut. It looked very trashy- bit just for the price but for anywhere. When we get to out “lakeview suite “ we find it’s is a view of the pool and side of the building . I specifically sought out a room for a lakeview and paid for a lakeview …so I expect a lake view. And for almost 2k I expect a clean hotel. When I asked if there were any rooms to upgrade to I was told you guys are fully booked. This is a poor way to start our vacation and a major let down. I would like to hear back from the hotel

We stayed here for two nights and enjoyed ourselves. We could tell that the room had recently been updated. The shower was great and the room was very spacious. We were also able to get board games and movies from the front desk which was fun! There were children yelling and running around right outside our room frequently. We also noticed toilet paper strung over the balconies, couch cushions dropped from third floor couches down to the 1st floor, and each time we passed the vending/ ice area the machines would be unplugged (even after we plugged them back in to use the machines). I wouldn’t consider the facility at fault for this, as I’m sure kids were doing this. It was pretty frustrating and negatively impacted our experience. Aside from that, the facility itself could use some work (paint chipping, siding not looking the best) , and the view from our room looked out over construction. The restaurant service was a little sub par. It seemed they were understaffed during dinner (understandable I know it gets hectic). But then even at our meals after, the server seemed to forget about us. Same goes for the icebreaker lounge service. Just a little slow, and the workers spent more time on their phones or chatting with coworkers (which I typically don’t mind at all but it was right after I had asked for something, so instead of going and getting what I had asked for they just got on their phone and hung out). But the food tastes great ! Overall we had an alright time. I will say that this was probably my least favorite of the 3 Ohio lodges I’ve stayed at.

We had 2 rooms adjoining. Nice balcony overlooking the outdoor pool. Quite setting. Nice rooms feel like a cabin setting. Friendly staff. The indoor pool is warm and offers a sanua. The restaurant is nice overlooking the lake. Great breakfast and breakfast buffet. The service was excellent. The dinner was enjoyable. For dinner, our group ordered a pizza, a seafood platter, grilled chicken, French onion soup, cheese tortellini and Philly steak sandwich. It was pretty good. It was a nice experience.

Having visited several of the state park lodges, I would say this one is modest, albeit quite pleasant. The setting was historic and pretty, amidst an expansive park. Realizing that a huge group was coming for a murder mystery weekend, we checked in early. I especially appreciated being able to do so because the checkin process seemed remarkably inefficient, requiring both people behind the tiny desk at least five minutes per transaction. Aside from enjoying a few minutes at the fireplace while the group was occupied elsewhere, we minimized our time in the lodge other than being in our room. The room was very spacious and comfortably equipped. The beds were a bit soft, but the main problem was that you could hear every sound from the adjoining rooms on either side. From one side was a constant drone of TV news, while the other side….a couple sharing their intimacy unknowingly with their neighbors. With all hands on deck feeding the masses, we opted for breakfast elsewhere.
