We stayed at indigo but had our breakfast and dinner in Intercontinental. The buffet breakfast was so mediocre, with hardly any choice. Quite disappointing for an intercontinental hotel. We had dinner and whatever we ordered from the beer list was apparently not available. I ordered tuna salad with potatoes and the tuna were stinky and spoiled. The staff tried hard and were pleasant, however, the whole food experience was horrible. No wonder we were the only people in the restaurant.

Tsingpu Baisha Retreat allows you to fully immerse yourself in local Naxi Minority life. Dress in local costume to join Naxi weddings, hike in nearby mountains and villages, listen to interesting talks about local legends, love stories, religions, make your own handicrafts, or join in a traditional bonfire celebration.
First keep in mind the room rate includes 3 meals a day for two people and 2 activities a day. The staff will earnestly work with you to accommodate food preferences and schedules. The retreat center and in fact all of the Lijiang, Shangri-la area is geared to tourists from China. We saw very few westerners and there is little English spoken but that just makes the experience more special. The hotel is new and the design is a nature infused modern with local Naxi flair. It is like a photo shoot of Dwell magazine. Our room had a view of snow mountain so my partner woke up on her birthday with the sun rising over the mountain creating sparkles on the glaciers and clouds in hues of pink and brick. The activities were really cultural and local. Explanations of the local Dongba religion which is mostly animist but a little Buddhism and Daoism for good measure. A visit to the nearby Tibetan Buddhist temple, Yuhu village etc. Plus the shops, cafés and restaurants of Baisha always with the Snow Jade Dragon mountain in the background.

The first exclusive and luxurious vacation club in China.
Stayed three nights and would return. Coordinates that may help you find it: N 026° 57.471, E 100° 13.257 as it is on a street parallel to the main road, not exactly in "Baisha Old Town," more like an adjacent upscale neighborhood of walled compounds, Taiping Village. Useful to have the address 华美度假 · 雪 ⼭居. Decor (e.g. deep purple bed sheets clashing with a sick yellow carpet) will not be to everyone's taste, but the view was great. It was easy to communicate by text messages with the manager, who was away, no one else speaking any English.

Ayu Thaya Guest House is sure to make your visit to Lijiang one worth remembering.
We stayed at Ayu Thaya for several nights as part of our honeymoon. Our room was huge with a comfortable and massive bed, dressing gowns, 24 hour hot water, computer with internet and TV. It had windows overlooking one of the streams running through Lijiang. The owners were so friendly despite having little if any English (we managed to communicate via Google translate). Breakfast could have been better - it was rice porridge with pickles and spices, bread and hard boiled eggs, but saying that for what we paid we were more than happy. We arrived early and were allowed into our room and provided with breakfast too. If you don't mind the language barrier then this is a fantastic place to stay in a quiet area of Lijiang.

Loved this little hotel about 3 minutes stroll from the entrance to Shuhe Ancient Town. If you show your hotel key card at the ticket office, entrance to the town is free. Best hotel of our China Trip. Really helpful, friendly young staff, even those who did not speak english, were able to communicate perfectly using the translation app. Attractive, spacious, clean, rustic rooms and comfortable bed, the best shower I have ever used. Lovely balcony and garden areas, lots of nice places to sit and chill out. Ask and you can use their washing machine and there is a safe outdoor covered drying area. Great location. Given the price per night and the budget/mid range status of this hotel, it is excellent value for money. I would rate it higher than 10 if I could. The staff encourage guests to take tea and relax with them, they then offer lots of info on where to visit (their recommendation of dinner at ‘Small Pot Of Rice’ restaurant in Shuhe Ancient town was spot on). Asian breakfast includes Congee, freshly cooked noodles, corn, bau, boiled eggs and tea, is simple but good. Bus stop for Lijiang and Baisui Naxi Village is a couple of minutes stroll or taxis are plentiful and cheap. This is just a nice, relaxed place to stay. We apologise for not leaving a tip but until later in our trip we were mistakenly under the impression that tipping was frowned upon in China. These guys deserved a big tip! It was a hard place to leave. Nice dogs too! Just note, they do not take cards, so make sure you have cash, machines are available in the old town and most accept western cards.
