If you are looking for a small paradise in a village near Chiang Mai you came to the right place. Our boutique resort consists of only 7 teakwood bungalows built on stilts in traditional Thai style. Relax on the huge private balcony with a view of our swimming pool (not chlorine but the newest system without any eye irritation) and our lush garden.
Hans and his wife will take care of you, no worries. When Hans gives advise or book( half) day trips, for sure you will have a fantastic time. The food is great and the atmosphere in the village is very laid back. We were here in august , 3 adults and 3 kids and had 2 bungalows. The kids had a fantastic time and never a boring moment. For the dutch and Belgian travellers, Hans is Dutch so no miscommunication:) His wife is a fantastic cook. Hans communicates fast and clear by email and he does exactly what he promisses!

VERY POORLY MAINTAINED, considering that this is only a 5-year old hotel. Don't be deceived with their photos on agoda or any booking websites. Most of the facilities (if not all) are non-functioning, including the pool, the coffee shop and the resto. Very disappointed when we arrived. No lush greenery, pool was closed, quite a dirty surrounding, very dusty, etc! See for yourself with my actual photos. I won't recommend this hotel to anyone.

We just went for coffee and cakes and liked it. But the first thing we saw to welcome us was a large plaster ostrich wearing a forage cap (see photo). The service was good and informal and the cakes excellent. The menu is quite comprehensive with Thai and western food. The coffee room/restaurant overlooks an attractive small lake with well tended gardens behind. It is an excellent stopping off place for after lunch coffee as on a few hundred metres from the main Chiang Mai - Mai Hong Song road. There is free WiFi too. I'm sure we will be returning as a couple to try out the hotel.

Beautiful place on the countryside to enjoy the view, the cozy rooms (houses) and the surrounding garden and Rambutan orchard. We stayed in October during the harvesting season and were encouraged to pick as many as we liked - delicious! The host is very kind and helpful and speaks very good English. He prepared a delicous breakfast for us, lended a bike and gave good advice on things to do like visiting the nearby cave. A great quiet place to spend 1-3 nights - the bungalows are spread out over the garden, so you'll have some privacy or you can enjoy a chat with the other guests at the breakfast area. We would recommend to come here with an own vehicle or motorbike, as the place is a bit out of town and we did not see any restaurants or shops in walking distance. Good place for families, the kids can explore the garden and play outside. If you don't like driving in the dark, it could be a bit awkward to drive back after dinner, the road is a bit bumpy but nothing too bad. Our cottage had an outdoor bathroom which we liked, but you may have to watch out for moskitos there (the room is sealed with moskito nets on the windows) - but we did not encounter too many. :-)

GPS - Coordinates : 19.40826 N , 99.23014 DoiFarang Bungalow Approximately 7 km north of Phrao, next to the northern Thai village Pa Nai, you can find the DoiFarang Bungalow Resort under German management. Built in typical style, it is located at the edge of the scenic valley at Phrao, the forested slopes of the mountain range in the back. From the resort you look at the plane with all its rice fields, picturesque villages and colorful temples, on the horizon, the silhouette of the imposing mountain range. Phrao is a tranquil, rural quiet provincial town, 95 km north of Chiangmai. The highway Nr.1001, very easy to drive, it leads directly from Chiangmai to Phrao. The road takes you through the mountain forests, teak plantations and past the famous Wat Doi Mae Pang, 17 km before Phrao. Phrao, centrally located, is the whole year a popular trading center for a variety of products from the surrounding mountain villages (hill tribes). Specifically, the large weekly Monday market in Phrao is a popular place for shopping or action. The local fresh market offers daily freshly harvested fruits and vegetables because the farmers of the surrounding mountain villages offer there their products to small market stalls. The town as well as Doi Farang Bungalow are very close to the jungle and in the densely wooded slopes and narrow valleys of the mountain hidden mountain villages. In around Phrao they discover the typical northern Thai architecture and lifestyle (Lanna) with numerous traditional teak houses, with many colorful temples, which are still in the old style teak. People here follow a simple lifestyle, are very open and friendly. Additional facilities provided : - Outdoor Swimming Pool which operates in season – closed during rainy season – Bicycle hire – local Tours & Events .
I stumbled upon this place while exploring the Phrao valley and found a little slice of heaven here! The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the grounds are extremely beautiful and well-maintained. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the whole place is quiet and peaceful. I felt so relaxed and at ease there, like I could easily spend my days leisurely enjoying the grounds and the atmosphere.
