We arrived in Odemira without a place to stay and rang up the Quinta, where Antonio was so welcoming and gave us directions to the farm, 2 km outside of town. Love and respect are clearly the foundation of this family enterprise. Antonio and Teresa are both lovely and constantly helpful with restaurant suggestions and reservations, special needs, hiking recommendations. They aim to make your stay special and unforgettable. The room was comfortable and spacious, and the facilities were wonderful—the beautiful salt water pool was a special treat. It was fun to explore the farm and grounds and to meet the three-week-old donkey. The breakfast buffet, included in the room rate, is exceptional—particularly the homemade jams and preserves, local cheeses, and fresh-baked cakes, not to mention eggs cooked to order. I’m sure we gained weight. After a month of touring Portugal’s cities and towns, our relaxing stay in this beautiful and warm environment was the perfect ending to our trip.

This is the perfect place for a nice getaway in the Alentejo region. It's near Elvas (15 minutes) and Evora (40 minutes). The host is very friendly and offers a nice and spacious room in an authentic farmhouse, surrounded by the beautiful landscape of the Alentejo. I would recommend this place to anyone who visits here.

Top quality local food: brings back childhood memories; quiet sleep in a comfortable bed with fresh white sheets; excellent hot August weather: great for the poolside, even in the evening; nice town and countryside to walk or cycle — the perfect rest!

Loved this TR. Owner was charming and attention to detail was v good. Breakfast as per Portuguese style but room was lovely as was the Quinta da Vinha in which we stayed. Furnishings were comfortable and in the style of a Quinta, parking is close and plentiful, pool was lovely overlooking the Vale and well maintained as was all the areas throughout. A real piece of Portugal, restored with traditional materials.

Me and my family stayed there for one night and it was amazing. The drive there helps build up the feeling you are going to place to relax and simply enjoy it! The rooms are beautiful and the all property is very well kept. The views are spectacular and spending the afternoon at the pool was really good, how not to enjoy a pool with those views?! We had dinner and breakfast outdoors, the food and service were really good, local products, attention to detail, and social distancing measures in place. A wine tasting session was gifted from a friend and definitely recommend it, it helps to know a bit more about their passion for winemaking and to know about the story behind Herdade do Vau, needless to say, how gorgeous the wines are. Definitely recommend it and looking forward to staying there again soon! Thank you so much for such an amazing weekend!

Our first trip to Portugal and our initial plan was to rent a house in the country side - we needed some well deserved stress free time away from buzzling Lisbon. Instead we decided to come to Moinho do Alamo. BEST decision - EVER! We wanted something different and yet comfortable, quiet and relaxing, something where we can fully enjoy family life and feel like home. Built on the ruins of an old water mill, the premises were designed and built by the owners and is still family-run. Its built to be as a place where travelers and locals can mingle, exchange stories or just enjoy some peacefulness. With only 8 rooms, one can be sure that this retreat will never be over crowded and one can always find a quiet spot around the very spacious grounds. What's great, is that the grounds layout has different "themes". There is the pool area, a small secluded island, a pond to row a boat on and even a sandy beach. As different the grounds areas are, as different are the rooms. Each lovingly decorated individually, cosy and of big enough size to feel comfortable. You can feel that this place has been designed and built with love and passion for creating a retreat, where you can feel at home. What makes it stand out from the sterile, cold-designed hotels are the the little decorative details which you can also find easily in a private home and which make this place charmingly quirky and an experience worth every single moment. We were lovingly looked after by the owner's family members and they tried everything to make our wishes come true. Just another puzzle piece that made the stay here so enjoyable! Our warmest thanks to Carolina, Fatima and Rita who also took exceptional care of our tummies. Food was freshly prepared with most of the ingredients coming from the grounds (vegetables, eggs, meat, etc.). The freshness of the ingredients resulted in amazing taste - no fancy multi-course Michelin-style meals, but well-cooked, balanced, down-to-earth, local cuisine which tasted amazing! To sum up: Off the beaten track, away from the tourist hordes, individuality and relaxation guaranteed and where you are made to feel more like a long-standing family member then an anonymous guest. Our tip: make sure you have a rental car. The hotel is quite off the main roads and is only reachable via about 10km of unpaved dirt roads. The rental car also enables you to explore the area, drive to Evora (a very nice town from the middle-ages) or just simply takes you out of the hotel if you fancy an evening in one of the local restaurants.

Pros: Quiet and beautiful location. Cons: Access (bumpy road), Wi-Fi (slow connection), television (didn't work), cleanliness (dust on the floor), decor (ugly curtains and duvets), breakfast (supermarket products).

Monte da Morena is a beautiful place located just outside of Serpa. With car you reach the city center in just 5 minutes. The accommodation is traditional Portuguese style as used in the past for the working people. It's simple, but very cute and liked it very much. The room was quite large, with airco and WiFi making it a comfortable stay. Breakfast contained of local products and really the queijadas were amazing. The scenery around this place is just stunning, an ideal place to relax. The owner Teresa and Custódia made us feel very welcome. To top it all off there are these 3 adorable and curious dogs who love the attention given. Would definitely come here again.
