Reviewed By Elaine KThis is one of the best motel I’ve stayed in. We are a family of 4 and found the room spacious and generous. Beds and pillows were comfy and clean. Small kitchenette in the room, for simple cooking. Toiletries replenished each day. There is laundry and dryer available, just see staff for assistance. Room is serviced very tidily and to a high standard each day, thanks to Anne, our room housekeeper. Resham the manager is helpful and goes the way out to help. Fantastic service. Good central location, near supermarkets. Very comfortable stay. Highly recommended!

Super comfortable beds, quiet setting, close to town centre, Covid no contact check in was easy but as a result we missed out on knowledge of extras we could have enjoyed while there. Only downsides were extra small sink, which was odd with no dishwasher. For those who do makeup bathroom light could do with a few extra candles. Would highly recommend this establishment.

Reviewed By MummaandCoFantastic place, friendly check in, good price, beautiful well equipped bathroom. Complimentary biscuits & bottles of water. The lazy boys were great!! The motel also has a gym. Walking distance to the shops & restaurants. We had two rooms - one was small (but perfectly adequate for two adults) & had an amazing view over the ocean. The other was a good size & had a double in the lounge & two singles in the bedroom. We would definitely stay here again.

Disappointing
Reviewed By Omg1967I have stayed here several times before as it is a very handy location to everything we want. I haven’t been for a couple of years and have noticed a decline in the condition of the rooms. We had 3 rooms- one had a tv that didn’t work and despite us telling them, this wasn’t fixed while we were there. It also has expired milk in the fridge and a questionable brown stain on the duvet. The one I stayed in was almost impossible to unlock the door to get in. The cups were dirty and the paint was peeling off the vanity and hallway, as well as hair in the shower. Not pleasant. On the plus side the beds were very comfortable. I doubt we will be back which is disappointing.

The family studio is compact and with 3 adults you need to be family or close friends but the beds are comfy, there's all the supplies you'd expect in a hotel room with kitchenette and it was very clean and well maintained. The service on the phone and making our booking was great. There was a small hiccup when the ground floor room we requested wasn't available but we were offered a generous discount to compensate. The property is very central to Upper Hutt and surrounds and the main roads and yet is set in parklike surrounds with bush and trees behind,complete with a resident ruru/morepork. Highly recommended

Reviewed By yaso001We stayed at U studio for one night on a girls' weekend away. The room had everything that we needed. somewhere clean and safe to stay, with friendly staff. The bed was comfy, the kitchen had all we needed - tea / coffee facility, fridge, stove, free milk on arrival. The rooms had a standalone fan, and heaters. Plus an Iron and ironing table. We would definitely by back to U Studio. Thank you team for making our stay comfortable.

Most hotels/motels close to the Hospital are adequate however the difference has always been Tim and Felicity‘s friendly helpful, open personalities. They clearly enjoy there profession which speaks volumes to my overall positive experience when staying there. I’d highly recommend the Southgate Motor Inn if you need accommodation close to Wellington Hospital.

Too Far from city center
Reviewed By PatMacnz64The Bathroom was great and the room spacious but there was no sky tv and the room lighting was very dim. The restaurant and bar were not open according to a sign that read closed due to covid 19 and staff redundancies. The person in reception gave us no information at all regarding the hotel itself or the surrounding area or where to eat. including that we could park outside our unit. After 6 pm there is absolutely no staff in the hotel even at night and no details for whom to contact if you need anything. I was asked for my vaccine pass upon check-in but my wife was not. Ask for a room at the back as it is quieter, there are other motels closer to town as this is not within walking distance it is a 20-minute drive. There was a sofa in the room and bedside lamps, as well as a kettle and tea and coffee and the liquid soap, was watered down to save money. There was a patio to sit out on and enjoy the sunset.
