The Victoria Falls Experience

Reviewed By KandK911

Booked through Air BnB and received an offer of a 3 bed lodge for 5 persons at an excellent price. Whilst at Lokuthula, we had full access to all of the facilities and services of the Victoria Falls Safari Lodge complex which Lokuthula is part of. All the service throughout the complex was very good and nothing was ever too much trouble. Free shuttle operates between hotel and Victoria Falls and the town on a regular daily basis. If a taxi was required, staff happy to organise . Only 10 dollars each way. A visit to The Three Monkey’s Restaurant is always a must and off course the Falls, if you don’t mind getting very wet. A helicopter trip over the Falls with Bonisair Helicopters is recommended if you want to view the Falls in all of its glory. They will even come and collect you from your hotel and drop you off again. Recommend a visit to the area and a stay at Lokuthula Lodges as part of a longer holiday. Zimbabwe is a great country for a planned visit and if you know where to look, you can get quite close to much of the wild life without feeling that you are a tourist.

Added extra 'armchair safari'

Reviewed By mariannel804

To our surprise we were 'upgraded' from Ivory Lodge to Khulu Lodge, we were not disappointed! The warm and friendly hospitality made us feel very welcome and comfortable for the three nights of our stay. Our rooms were very well appointed chalets with a small veranda, love the extra outdoor shower as well as an indoor one, all with uniterrupted views over a very large waterhole opposite. The reception, lounge, bar, dinning was a large decked area, under the main thatched roof a very comfotable and sociable 'hub'. There was also a small open pool. You could also look outfrom another open area with chairs around a 'fire pit' which was enclosed with a rustic barrier of heavy branches for safety. We absolutely loved the open feel, no fences between us and the wild! There was always something interesting to watch at the waterhole. So if you weren't out on a safari drive you were on an 'armchair safari'! in the evenings we were entertained by the elephant's party, they would drink the fresh borehole water from our pool! Who needs tv here? We watched frequent 'stand offs' between elephants and buffalo. The guides impressed us with their knowledgeable and experience. The food was excellent. There was an abundance of other wildlife seen on our drives, Kudu, Sable, Tsessesbi, Waterbuck Zebra, Impala, Red duiker Jackhal, Baboons, Vervet monkeys, Lions, Hippos and Crocodiles. We just loved our experience at Khulu Lodge and were sorry to leave, would love to revisite another time.

We enjoyed every second – from peaceful mornings reading and watching the mighty Zambesi from our rooms to exciting adventures on various game drives, river cruises or the visit to Vic Falls. Dardley, Blessed, Godfree, Richard and the rest of the team were wonderful. Their excellent company and of course their dedication to customer satisfaction were certainly one of the reasons why Chundu was highlight of our trip. Thank you and all the best for the future! Hopefully, we’ll meet again.

A joy from beginning to end

Sikumi is doing so much right! Firstly the staff are amazing. Such happiness, efficiency and care was taken. The food was good, honest (if a bit basic) fare. Thoroughly delicious. They serve dinner and breakfast, and at lunch time you can order simple things. We slept so well, the beds were comfortable, the sheets and pillows were good quality. The shower worked well, and there was amply hot water. The rooms were well designed, and while a little dated, were comfortable and well appointed. The pool was pleasant, clean and there were three loungers (a little tired) but also adequate. Check in and out was easy, and the price was extremely reasonable. The water hole is a bonus. Lots of game, and attractive and calm during the day. The eating area over looks the waterhole. All in all, this is a special place, well run, great atmosphere, and we will be happy to return. If you like glamorous, upmarket, busy pls Ed, this might not suit you, but if you are looking for a lovely, relaxing place with great people, food, animals, at a good price, give it a try.

For those guests who like to drop a line in the water, we also offer fishing for bream and the world renowned tiger fish, and Elephant Point is regarded as an excellent area to fish in. A truly unique place to stay

Reviewed By Robin S

If you're looking for WiFi on demand and air conditioned rooms this is not the place for you. If you're looking for a unique camp where you will create memories to last a lifetime then Rhino is the place for you. My sister and I stayed here for five nights and had a spectacular time. Karl, Jenny, and Cher run a terrific camp with everything you need for a lovely stay. Each room is elevated and faces the lake so you get gorgeous views of the water and the animals who graze along the shore. The camp isn't fenced so you will be escorted at night as you never know who might come through - elephants came through at least twice while we were there and we only knew that from the footprints. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with a bathroom on the back side of the room. The rooms have solar powered lights and a fan so I recommend bringing a small flashlight or headlamp in case you need to get up at night - getting out of the mosquito netting can be challenging in the dark! The bathroom is partially covered which means you take a shower under a blanket of stars at night. I heard a lion roaring in the distance one evening which just added to the amazing experience of an outdoor shower. The food is wonderful and very plentiful. My sister is a vegetarian and Robert and Stephen created delicious dishes for her. We ate family style around a large table which was lovely as everyone sat down to eat and visit. Dinner was preceded by drinks around the fire as we watched the sun set on the lake. Isaac was our waiter and he made sure everyone had all that they needed without being intrusive. Simeon and Methuli were our guides and ensured we had an amazing experience every time we went out. We saw so much and learned so much that I could go on for paragraphs about our experiences. One evening we headed out for a drive and came across a breeding herd of elephants very near the camp (I could see our room from where we were) so we stopped to watch the three moms and three babies for about an hour. It was a truly magical experience. We got out of the vehicle and just sat on a log and watched the moms eat and the babies play with each other. They weren't bothered by our presences so it was all very natural. Memories like that stay with you forever, We also had two game walks which were fascinating as you see nature from a completely different perspective. Simeon called it the birds and turds tour as we saw butterflies, dragonflies, birds and bird nests, and so much more. If you are looking for a relaxing stay at a great lodge where you will see and learn so much then Rhino is the place for you. I look forward to going back again.

This safari lodge is an absolute gem

12 of us visited Ivory Lodge in April 20 22. We were bowled over by the wonderful surroundings and absolutely amazing hospitality. Joel, Michelle , Jameson and the team were so warm, friendly and attentive. We felt genuinely sad to leave them and would dearly love to be able to visit them all again. Zebedee and King, our game drive guides were unbelievably knowledgeable about all of the wildlife, the plants and habitat. They were both fascinating to listen to and we learned so much from them. They were absolutely fantastic. The camp has a rustic, natural feel to it. The beds are extremely comfortable and the bedrooms contain everything that you need. Considerable thought has gone into the design and layout of the rooms. There are lots of thoughtful little touches and every room has a great view of the watering hole. We were lucky to see an elephant and a herd of kudu drinking from the watering hole on the first day and then saw a warthog chasing for kudu away! We were taken care of beautifully. Washington, the chef, attended to all of our difficult dietary requirements. A great deal of care went into the food preparation and we really enjoyed all of it. Well done guys, you are doing a fantastic job!
