We came to Serra do Cipó on a birdwatching trip. The owner was very helpful. Even though we spoke almost no Portuguese, we were able to communicate through the use of Google translate. He even gave us a 5 o'clock breakfast, very important for birders. The room was nice with comfortable beds and slow, but working WiFi. Only complaint (and the only reason the review is not 5 stars) is that the water in the shower was not hot. It was warmer than the cold water, but still cool. Otherwise a great time in a beautiful location.

Pousada Del Rey is located 5 km from Belo Horizonte city centre. This self-catering studio offers free Wi-Fi and access to a lush yard. Del Rey Shopping Centre is 5 minutes' walk away. A kitchenette with a fridge, coffee maker and a stove is available in the studio, as well as a seating area with a LED TV (cable). This simply furnished studio also offers a private bathroom with a shower and a toilet. The Mineirao Stadium and the Lagoa da Pampulha can be reached in 3 km, while Praca da Liberdade, Belo Horizonte's main square, can be reached in 6 km. Main Bus Station is 5 km away, while the Pampulha Airport can be reached in 7 km. UFMG University is 2 km away.
- Pros: laundry and well-equipped kitchen inside the room, cable TV and broadband Wi-Fi, clean, nice balcony, reasonably quiet, nice bed, coffee maker and free coffee in the room - Cons: parking lot outside the hotel area, dark and creepy neighborhood at night, sunny room is good but a blackout curtain wouldn't hurt, no attendants during the night (hard to find even during the day), no breakfast, no information about taxi cabs or maps - In general: looks like a good place for students or young couples (if you're not very demanding); maybe not that comfortable if you're traveling with your family or elderly people (long staircases, no escalator/elevator). Not properly a hotel, it's more like a remodeled house. Would be a good choice if it was not that pricey for what they offer ($110/night). Unfortunately, I would not come back

The hotel is new, room size adequate, bathroom large. Bed was fine AC system was one of the most quiet ever. The breakfast was ok, on a scale of 1-5, about a 3, could be better. The problem is not the hotel facility or location, the problem is the hotel STAFF and certain things that point out the people managing this hotel have no clue what they are doing. STAFF- At check in the "Einstein" checking me in could not figure our WHERE the picture page was on my Passport. I had to take the Passport from his hand open it to the picture page and put in front of his face he still took forever. Not all rooms in this hotel have an "in-room" safe. Mine did, went to the room as happens the previous guest was "considerate" and left the safe closed so it could not be used. I called down and later they came to open the safe, I had told them that it appeared the batteries were not good, he put other batteries in the safe. When I went that evening to open the safe, the safe did Not Open, dead batteries again. Now the guy in reception that night was also an "Einstein". Finally he admitted they did not have keys in the hotel to open the safe, that only the "Manager" has keys....? I had to wait about 30 minutes for the manager to show up with keys. The "nighttime Einstein" still could not figure out the safe needed NEW not old recycled batteries. Did not put my stuff back in the safe. Tried to make an international telephone call and the call would not go through. Tried to explain it to the "nighttime Einstein" and he did not understand, claimed everything was ok with the phone. Went back to the room and after numerous attempts finally got my call in (he must have done something with the system). Next day their computer did not show any calls from my room. I had to point out (since I am honest) that Yes I did make a call. When they finally intelligently check, the call does show up, but it also shows 6 other "1 minute calls being charged". Of course I refused to pay for the 6 1 minute calls that never went through. Restaurant area was on the 4th floor, I was on the 3rd floor. About 6am you get disturbed by the noise of chairs scrapping on the floor etc. Not pleasant at all. I will again state, if you are from USA Canada, Australia, New Zealand. Only use reviews from people from the countries as a benchmark. Latin's and some Europeans have different standards as to what "excellent is". My problem was not communication, I speak English and Spanish perfectly, also speak "Portanol" ( a mixture of Spanish with Portuguese) which is also understandable in Brazil. the bottom line, would I stay here again, Yes, but not on the 3rd floor and would not use the in room safe.

Hotel is well maintained with nice staff. well located but parking is basically on the street. Rooms are neatly furnished. Toilet is nice but with electrical showers so do not heat as much as the gas ones.

We just spent two weeks and loved it. We had a roomy studio with a kitchenette area that was nicely decorated and very clean. The real selling point though was the entire staff! Each and every one... the Food was EXCELLENT 5 star Service All The Way...
