Beautiful lodge with extremely friendly staff

Wanting to see the Addo elephant park we looked for accommodation close by to get an early start. Boy were we happy to choose this. Not only conveniently located the lodge itself is situated in a beautiful reserve. In the morning we went for a walk and spotted some giraffes, immediately setting the mood for our visit to Addo. Our host being a former Addo ranger, drew us a route on the map and we saw everything you can imagine. We decided to extend our stay for a night, being able to retreat after a long days drive through the park and rest up for the next leg of our trip. The people were very friendly, we had a glass of wine with them and they told us so many stories about the area and gave some more tips on things to see on the rest of our trip. On the night of our arrival the manager had even cooked us a small dinner, even though we were the only guests and the kitchen was actually closed. Thank you for being part of an unforgettable journey!

Simply outstanding experience

Reviewed By Gavin R

My wife and I stayed at Shamwari Beyethe Lodge for 3 nights as part of our Honeymoon trip. We are both keen flora and fauna enthusiasts and joining a sustainable and ethical safari was top of the list to build our Honeymoon around. All I can say is we were both blown away with the experience we had at Shamwari Bayethe Lodge and would live there if we could! We were welcomed by Buli who made us instantly feel welcome and very relaxed and took us through the check in process. The lodge was absolutely amazing and whilst I could put up a ton of photos, I do not want to spoil the experience and wow factor for those who are considering going. All I can say is the facilities are amazing and you have a balcony overlooking areas of the reserve. You will not be disappointed! The food in the main lodge is equally amazing with breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner being served daily. The quality of the food was outstanding the the service from all staff could not be rivalled. There was no cocktails on the beverage menu, however Nina (very helpful Lodge Manager) made us aware that Anele (Barista) was a keen cocktail enthusiast and would make us something if we asked. We took up this offer and asked Anele if he would make us a cocktail and he was delighted at being asked. He made the most amazing Pina Colada which had us hooked and we enjoyed Aneles 'daily recommendation' during out trip. Last but by no means least, the game drives. We were paired up with a ranger called Raymond Simmons who could not do enough for my wife and I which included remaining very enthusiastic as we seeked out the lions in the pouring rain. Raymond helped make our safari experience one that we will remember for the rest of our lives and we keep regularly talking about when we will go back. I could go on all day about how amazing Shamwari is but I do not want to reveal everything and leave it as one big surprise for those considering visiting. All I can say is go for it, its an amazing place and I know you will not regret it.

Stunning

Reviewed By Campbell P

The culmination of our trip to South Africa was the visit to Eagles Crag and Shamwari. It was to be the high point of what had been an amazing holiday. We were not disappointed. You go to a Game reserve to see the animals and we certainly did that. We were there for three nights and had six game drives each one different and mind-boggling in its own way. Our guide Frans was so knowledgeable and provided for us so many memorable moments and sights. He seemed to know where the best views of all the animals would be. One of the most incredible was to be within a few feet of a pride of lions as they devoured a warthog. Gruesome but incredibly fascinating. The countryside of Shamwari is stunningly beautiful and the drives at sunrise and sunset showed off the area to the best advantage In addition to all of this the accommodation at Eagles Crag is of the highest possible standard. Each room is self detached with its own private sun deck and plunge pool. The room itself was luxurious and spacious with everything you could possibly want including a well stocked and complimentary mini bar. The staff were fantastic. They were friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was gorgeous and served in beautiful surroundings. It all amounted to what was probably the most incredible three days of our lives. Thank you to everyone at Eagles Crag for making that possible
