If you are looking for diversity, you will certainly find it in New Hampshire. From lakes to beaches, waterfalls to woods and mountains to sea coast, the state has huge potential for outdoor vacations, including downhill or cross-country skiing in winter. With no less than seventy-five state parks that offer natural areas, hiking trails, beaches and historic sites, New Hampshire caters for a variety of tastes. Crawford Notch State Park in Harts Location has picturesque waterfalls, wonderful mountain views and opportunities for viewing wildlife. You can go hiking and fishing there as well as pay a visit to the historic Willey House. Monadnock State Park, unlike some other state parks, is open all year round for hiking. Want to go swimming? You will find five state park beaches along the coast of New Hampshire, such as Wallis Sands with its view of the rocky Isles of Shoals. On North Hampton State Beach and Jenness Beach you can have a picnic as well as a swim. When you've finally had your fill of fresh air, head for the Museum of New Hampshire History in Concord with exhibits focusing on heritage and traditions; children should enjoy them just as much as adults.

I have multiple complaints. First is that when I booked online I paid more money for a standard Queen room overlooking the ocean. Upon arrival we realized the room absolutely did not overlook the ocean. The desk clerk said those rooms cost more and we’re fully booked. We opted to stay because we had already traveled to the destination and other hotel choices were either booked or outrageously priced. There are no amenities. Note to self: the title “functional” hotel is a huge red flag regardless of location. ***Then I discovered that whomever booked my room used my credit card to purchase 2 airline tickets. I would highly recommend NOT booking this hotel.

Look at these responses to my review on Google Maps. I was going to write an essay about how terrible of a person she is but she did a way better job than I ever could. The terrible stay was one thing, but stealing from my rent deposit, lying about it, and getting personal in responses to reviews is another. She should legally not be allowed to be in customer service.

AMC's Cardigan Lodge in Alexandria, New Hampshire is just two hours from Boston. Surrounded by 5,000-acre Mount Cardigan State Forest, Cardigan Lodge offers an extensive trail network for hiking and cross-country skiing, a nature trail and swimming pond, and family-friendly programs and theme weekends.
The lodge was comfortable, the staff was excellent and accommodating. They were able to deal easily and nice with a vegetarian. I really enjoyed the weekend wedding here. The whole place was very clean. The food was good and plentiful.

AMC's Highland Center at Crawford Notch, our newest four-season lodge and outdoor education center, offers a broad range of accommodations and walk-on programs, along with backdoor access to a variety of outdoor activities. The Highland Center is an ideal starting point for day hikes, paddling, snowshoe treks, and longer back country trips in the White Mountains. All-inclusive lodging packages are offered year-round and include meals, free walk-on nature programs, and free use of the L.L. Bean gear room.
My family and a few others book here every October. We love the ease of the lodge, with all meals freshly prepared, and large common area for reading or hanging out by the fireplace. The location is perfect as a base for day hikes, many of which you can walk to and others a short drive. Ping pong in the basement for the kids. Flannel sheets. Friendly knowledgeable young staff. A great vacation.

Pinkham Notch has been a hub for hiking, climbing, snowshoeing, and skiing on the Presidential Range of the White Mountains since the 1920s. With access to Tuckerman Ravine and the Wildcat Range just outside your door, Joe Dodge Lodge provides the perfect opportunity to tackle more challenging terrain while offering beginner hikers, climbers, and skiers a chance to practice their skills. The Lodge is located on the Appalachian Trail in the White Mountain National Forest.
This is a real AT hikers heaven right at the bottom of Tuckerman's Ravine trail on Mt. Washington. Decent rooms with bunk beds for 2 or 4 people each. Nice dorm bathrooms right down the hall that are nice and clean. A great AMC library and other common areas. It's right next to the AMC visitors center and dining hall. The dinning hall was perfect for AT hikers with all you can eat meals. Lots of vegetarian options at every meal. The one thing missing is laundry facilities for guests and hikers. This would be a real benefit to many people.

We hiked down through the Lakes of the clouds in July. It was our 3rd time hiking Mount Washington but first time down through the hut. What a great place! the views are stunning too! I will definitely try to stay there on another day when we plan to hike for 2-3 days.

What an awesome experience! My daughter and I hiked up together and stayed overnight in the AMC hut. Beautiful views and lake!! The CROO was great and very entertaining. Food was very plentiful and served family style. The lodge was warm and inviting and a good place to meet other guests.

What a wonderful place to spend the night. We had great weather and food was excellent. Hanging on the falls was a great place to spend the afternoon. Croo was not friendly at all. Thought I was bothering them the whole time. Bunks were clean, but day after day sweating hikers pass through and who knows when they clean the blankets and pillow cases. All in all meet great people and would probably return

Friendly croo, nice facilities, great views, and good grub. Bathrooms not smelly at all (unlike my experience with some AMC huts in 2017). Word of warning: if you're not an early riser, don't get tempted by the bunks with window views. There are no window shades, so be prepared to wake up early. Friendly advice: If you come in from the Appalachia parking lot on Rt 2 and it is a nice summer day, definitely take the Airline Trail. It's a steeper start, but then you are hiking much of the trail with awesome views and a nice breeze. If you take the Valley Way, you'll have a hot and humid hike, with little or new views. You'll have the same elevation gain either way, but a much more pleasant hike.
