Think of this region as the Southern Hemisphere's Switzerland, where snow-capped peaks, dozens of deep mountain lakes and emerald valleys create a fairy-tale landscape. Stretching from the Bio Bio River to the northern edge of Patagonia, it's home to picturesque German-influenced villages like Frutillar, Puerto Octay and Puerto Varas, plus wildlife-rich Vicente Perez Rosales National Park. The culture and handicrafts of the native Mapuche Indians are found in the northern areas around Temuco.

In a hidden corner of the world, on the shores of one of Chile's largest lakes, is a place truly worth discovering. 50 Kilometers south of Chaiten through the Carretera Austral-.Here, surrounded by ice-capped peaks, rainforests and open waters, you'll find a fly fishing and adventure paradise
We spent a subdued new year’s eve in this fantastic place on Yelcho lake. Everything was great, the staff is as friendly as you can get and the food is outstanding at international level. We stayed in the main building in a very comfortable room with more than ample space and a great view.

We stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment with a massive lounge and separate kitchen area, with distant views of the lake and Osorno Volcano. The hotel is a 15-20 minute walk uphill from the town centre in a quiet area of town. The room was quite cold when we arrived, but each evening someone came in to light the wood burner, which also heated the radiators, making it lovely and cosy. The only minor complaint - we had a gas oven, but nothing to light it with, which to be fair seemed common all over Chile, although it was soon rectified once pointed out to reception.

Lomas del lago is a wonderful place to relax and unwind. The service provided by Mauricio and his family is outstanding!! There are 8 cabins on Mauricio's property which sits on a hill overlooking lago Llanquihue with volcano Orsono directly across the lake from the cabins. Don't worry, the volcano is a safe distance from Lomas. Our cabin had a nice kitchen, master bedroom, kids bedroom, bathroom and living room. Easy access to the town of Frutillar which offers a great beach on Llanquihue, restaurants and peace and quiet. 25 minutes to Puerto Varis and 30 minutes to the Puerto Montt airport. Lomas is peaceful and quiet and has a pool for the kids and a sauna and hot tubs too! I highly recommend Lomas del Lago!

Sizigia Hotel is located in the heart of an old cove in the Pedro Montt neighborhood at Castro city. The actual building is a heritage rescue from an old palafito (stilt house) from 1930's which is conditioned with 8 warm and cozy rooms, built in native wood. a coffee shop with an amazing view to the Castro bay and a fine handcraft store characterized by the innovation and design.
This is a delightful boutique hotel in one of Castro’s historic palofitos - houses on stilts. The interior is modern, spacious, with lots of light wood while preserving the character of the original. Our comfortable, well appointed room had a superb view over the estuary. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and attentive, solving a problem for us with our travel agent about the timing of a tour and allowing us a slightly delayed check out. Highly recommended

We are a lodge, surrounded by nature and endemic trees at the shore of a beautifull semi- private lake, with warm waters in summer and with marvellous views to 6 snowy volcanoes. We have great diversity of birds, and we are surrounded by fields of cows and native trees. Gracias a la Vida lodge is only 10 minutes driving from Puerto Varas, and 30 minutes from the airport. Eduardo and Carolina, created this wonderfull place full of art and they will be waiting for you to make your stay with a mix of adventure and slow life. We have 4 cabins of 90 mt 2, they have living room, full equiped kitchen, terrace over the lake, suite and another bedroom with 4 beds and bathroom. we also have kayaks for our guests, hot tube and sauna.
Firstly I would like to say we did not choose the cabanas for the bird watching, which is what presumably attracts people. We choose it for the location with peace and quiet. On arrival we didn’t have the code to open the gate, although we had been sent an email 30 minutes prior to arriving which was no use as we were travelling and no WiFi outside the property. The cabana was basic but I didn’t think it wasn’t particularly clean, the linen was grey and towels very hard. One of the bathrooms had a horrible smell and the other had broken tiles around the bath. WiFi should have been available in the communal area a short walk from the cabana but you had to be outside to connect to it. We ended up leaving but did tell the owner what we found.

Los Lingues Lodge, in its first phase, offers visitors 4 types of cabin, all 56 meters square with finest Chilean native wood finishings: Lingue, Rauli, Manio and Lenga. Each has 2 independent bedrooms, 1 bathroom, an open kitchen and a spacious terrace with a wide view over the Southern Chile countryside. The decoration is rustic and designed to provide quiet, relaxing surroundings. As well as the areas and installations for the Lodge's own activities, there is an open space for camp-fires at the riverside for visitors who want to do private barbecues with family or friends. Our staff can also provide an "asado al palo" which is a spit roasted barbecue on a stick, very typical in Southern Chile. We can provide breakfast, do your laundry and transfer you in and out from Osorno Airport. Los Lingues Lodge also has a Hot Tubs area near the cabins, in a spot totally surrounded by vegetation for full privacy. Visitors can take advantage of hydrotherapy in a warm environment, designed for relaxing after a long day fishing.
Very nice cabins, friendly and well organized staff. We had lot of fun with canopy and kayak. Hot tub was always ready for use. We enjoyed also the trip to Frutillar, visiting the local museum showing part of the history of German setllers in that region.

We stayed for a few nights, it is close to Angelmó, the fishing port and market, which makes it a bit of a walk into Puerto Montt centre or the bus station. Breakfast is bread with cheese, meat and jam, eggs, cereal and yoghurt. Our private room with bathroom was small and clean (the rooms are cleaned each day). The staff were friendly and helpful.
