Things to do in Kathmandu Valley

Solid Rock Lodge & Restaurant is an ideal get away in Dollu/Pharping 15 km from Kathmandu. Unwind at the end of a forested valley with good food, hikes and camp fire. We are at the end of the Dollu Valley, renowned for its stunning natural scenery and spiritual importance. We have a comfy restaurant set up in a traditional Nepali farm house and 6 spacious rooms in newly constructed guest cottages.
There are a few things I love about this place. The first one is definitely the people who run it. Even though it was busy when I arrived without booking before (a group of runners made a big reservation) they welcomed me with open arms and made me feel at home. I also love how beautiful and quiet the place is, it is exactly what I needed at the end of my trip. However, even though it is quiet there is a lot to do in the area as well! There are a lot of beautiful monastries and meditation caves and the hike over the small paths through the pine forest on the hills are beautiful too. I took it easy and mostly just sat around the lodge drinking lemon grass tea from their beautiful garden and reading my book. The food was great as well, very fresh and tasty. If I could have stayed longer I definitely would!

Nepal Cottage Resort, newly built property as per travelers choices, nearby vibrant touristy hub, is located in Thamel. Four detached buildings, including conference hall and dinning hall, comprise 24 rooms. All rooms have air condition, hot and cold shower, satellite TV, and broadband internet facilities. As all building are two storied and all top floor every single room has private balcony.
The hotel service is top. The owners are running the hotel by themselves so you can be sure of the quality. Staffs are very friendly. Reasonable price for good and clean room. You can also have lunch and dinner here. There are pomelo trees and guava trees in front of the building that we can taste :) just be careful with the mosquito. The hotel provides an electric mosquito repellant in the room. The hotel is very well located. It is so close to Thamel area where you can find everything. Thamel area could be very busy and noisy but we do not hear any noise from our room. We have a very good sleep here.

My husband and I spent 2 nights in monkey homestay. Tamang helped us in everything, even outside from ktm and the family upstairs cooked for us and made us feel home. The room and bathroom was clean and comfortable and the zone where is it found is just amazing, nextto monkey temple. Really worth it!!!!!! Recommend it 100%

We want you to come on in, drop your bags, get fresh, grab a drink, grab a seat, meet new people, enjoy the music and make plan for next adventure. We are located in centre of Thamel, Kathmandu. All tourist attractions in Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktpur are easily accessible from Thamel area.
I spent a night there. The worst of my all trip. I’m a backpacker and am not afraid of dirty things, I used to travel economic and cheap. But this room was the worst. Everything was discussing. Carpet bed sheet towel bathroom toilet pillow !! The all room was crap. The matras was dead. The blanket to get sick. Horrible. Room Was dark. Super noisy. ( dogs and F ..pigeon) Even Hot water was absent. !! I slept totally cover as I was so revolt to enter the “bed”. I should have stayed somewhere else for sure. What a désappointement, I don’t understand people who give 4/5 stars to this creepy place. It should be forbidden to propose a place like this. Only the staff was friendly. I feel sorry to give such a bad review but please learn from it and refresh this hotel and rooms, we are backpacker ok but we are not dirty animals...! Never again there.

Great value for money - I can stay there forever! It's simple but it's got everything I needed - spacious room, comfortable bed, effective heater, hot water, a well-equipped shared kitchen, unlimited drinking water supply, etc. My favorite part is the hosts' hospitality! They helped me with taxi arrangements and provided me travel tips. The location is also prime - close to everything but a block away so it's quiet. I liked the lovely balconies as well. The driving route google maps suggest from the airport to the guest house is not very accurate. The last part of the suggested route is actually too narrow for a taxi to pass so my driver had to ask around to find an alternative way. Maybe guide the taxi to Patan Dhoka (a white gate) and go from there.

Food was awful. Management was terrible. Food was so bland we left most of it. For the same price you can get amazing food in Nepal. Please avoid this place. The manager was very rude and unhelpful and didn’t make us feel comfortable at all. Shame

Hotel Sweet Town is 15 mins drive from airport and is in a walking distance from most of the attractions like monkey temple, Garden of Dreams, King Palace and Durbar square.
NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!!!! Customer service: 1/10 (Very poor, staff bluff a lot to make you feel whatever inconveniences you face have happened for the first time) Cleanliness: 2/10 (stains all over the linen and bathroom was dirty) Room size: 4/10 (quite small but enough for a goodnight's sleep) Breakfast: 1/10 (omelette with 2 toast, butter and jam with tea/coffee which turns cold by the time the plate reaches you) Location: 7/10 (quick access to nightlife and restaurants) Hot Water: 0/10 (water heater is always broken, night staff informed me 2 wait 2hrs until they fixed it, later a group occupying 9 rooms told me that they didn't shower for 3 days due to the lack of hot water) Promised to shift me the next morning to a room which is fine... when i reach there, morning staff again tells me to wait 2 hours, which was frustrating and eventually didn't work!!!!!! NO COMPENSATION was given, yet charged me the cost of the room.
