A mixture of forested mountains, alpine peaks, wildflower meadows, deep river canyons, and high plains deserts, Idaho is a paradise for golf, skiing, fly fishing, and river rafting. Boise, the capital, is the state's largest city and airline hub. North of Boise are golf, lake, and ski resorts from McCall in the south to Sandpoint and Coeur D'Alene in the north. East of Boise are the ski slopes of Ketchum and Sun Valley. East of Sun Valley are Craters of the Moon National Monument, Pocatello, Idaho Falls, and the small town of Island Park just across the border from Yellowstone National Park. Boise's Basque Museum and Cultural Center reflects having the largest Basque population in the U.S. Reflecting Idaho's diverse heritage, near the Idaho Historical Museum in Boise's Julia Davis Park is the Idaho Black History Museum's chronicle of the slave York who served the Lewis & Clark Expedition. After a family visit to the Peregrine Fund's World Center for Birds of Prey and an outdoor performance at the Idaho Shakespeare Festival, the next stop after Boise is likely to be Payette Lake in McCall or Sun Valley and Ketchum. About 100 miles north of Boise, past Cascade Lake, McCall takes you to the shores of Payette Lake. Go golfing, fishing, hiking, biking, waterskiing, sailing, boating, or whitewater river rafting. Ski or snowshoe Brundage Mountain or Tamarack Resorts, as well as Ponderosa State Park in winter. Ice skate year-round at Manchester Ice & Event Centre. About 450 miles north of Boise, there are resort lakes near skiing and golf at Coeur d'Alene, Hayden Lake, and Sandpoint. Golf, tennis, mountain biking, hiking, fishing, rafting, and hunting are popular in Sun Valley and Ketchum. Sockeye salmon may no longer do much spawning in Redfish Lake, but the boating and mountain scenery in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area make the short trip north to Stanley worthwhile. When the snows come the whole family will head for the slopes of Soldier Mountain, Bald Mountain, Dollar Mountain, or the Sun Valley Resort. A tiny forested town of about 250 people, Island Park has a large reservoir with fishing and boating, as well as Henry's Fork of the Snake River for fly fishing. It's only 15 miles from Yellowstone as well.

Our year-round resort is conveniently located in Kellogg, Idaho just off I-90, 70 miles east of Spokane and 30 miles east of Coeur d'Alene. Home to some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the Northwest, Galena Ridge Golf Course and Silver Rapids, Idaho's largest indoor waterpark. At Silver, the family fun never ends whether you enjoy snow tubing, skiing or snowboarding during the winter months or golfing, mountain biking, hiking, gondola rides or a variety of family activities during the summer. Make Morning Star Lodge the base-camp for your next family adventure.
Our purpose for this stay was to take the grandkids to the water park, and it’s nearly impossible to get tickets any other way (tickets are held for guests predominantly). This captive audience allows them to price things accordingly. Checkout is 11:00 and the park didn’t open till 1:00. When I asked for a late checkout (though they had no booking after ours) I was told we could checkout at noon, but would have to pay another $45/hr after that. I told them we’d just hang out in their lobby for an hour until the park opened. The front desk called me back a little while later, offering a 1:00 checkout for no charge. Nice concession. I will say that the general layout of the one bedroom/loft condo and the huge bathroom worked well for the 5 of us and the advertised pictures well-represented the general appearance of the condo, but the cleaners do NOT pay attention to detail. Dirty fan, cobwebs (look up!) & dirty corners. And the sofa is grossly soiled and thread-bare. As we were relaxing on the sofa with the fan on, bits of dusty fan debris were floating down on us. Ughhh!!! This is promoted as a condo with a fully stocked kitchen but it lacks numerous basics - foil and plastic wrap, oil or spray oil, dish brush or sponge, and the most important basic - SALT AND PEPPER. When I called to ask about any of these missing items, their answer was either buy them in their gift shop or the grocery store. A few other missing items - no pencil or paper, no decaf coffee or tea. Considering the reservation price, the management would do better to pay closer attention to the customers’ needs. If you plan to stay at this facility, either bring your own “everything” or book through Owner-owned apps, where they pay much better attention to detail. Better yet, stay at a cheaper hotel and spend your $$ at Silverwood Park (Athol, ID) or Triple Play (Hayden, ID).

If you want a quiet relaxing rustic get away .. this is the place to be . It was very clean , plenty of hot water , it has a kitchen with everything you need to cook with . Fridge, microwave, coffee maker . We stayed in cabin 7 which had a hot tub on the porch . Right outside the door was the river/creek where you could fly fish . The sound was so relaxing we left our door open to sleep to it . I would go back again for sure .

We visited River's Fork Lodge over the Memorial Day weekend as we did in 2021. It is amazing what the new owners have done since that time. All the hotel and lodge rooms have been upgraded and are wonderful. The staff, as always, are very friendly and accommodating, readily available to provide guidance and river floating toys for guest enjoyment. The views of the Salmon River and surrounding mountains are phenomenal. Can't go wrong with this place either for a great stay or launch point for other activities.

We stayed in a newly renovated Queen Kitchenette, and really appreciated being able to prepare simple meals. The room was spacious enough, and the bathroom was very nice. Very comfortable bed too. The staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely make a reservation for the natural springs hot tub, it's a gorgeous setting just a few steps from the cooling river!

Rustic charm awaits at the base of the Grand Teton Mountains. Enjoy the sports of the seasons and park your keister in one of our modern Lodge rooms. Our property also boasts spacious pull through RV slips with both 30 & 50 amp connections. We look forward to welcoming you soon!
Good time to visit both parks this year. The weather was pleasant and so was the stay at the Teton peaks. Initially, I booked for a day and based on recommendation by family, stayed another 2 days. We need that time to cover the parks. Overall, it was a relaxing and refreshing experience. Hope to come back soon.

Your historic Idaho adventure starts here. Located in a geothermally active region along the Highway 21 Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway along the rolling waters of the South fork of the Payette river. Bordered by the Wildlife Canyon Scenic Byway off the Banks-Lowman Hwy 2512A at that junction you will find the Southfork Lodge. Year round activities for the outdoor enthusiast or those seeking just a bit a respite with some rustic comfort gather here
Incredibly cute property and the interior of the rooms seem to have been recently updated. Rooms were huge and right along the creek. Wonderful to have a restaurant on site. The food was excellent, service was spot on. You can tell this place has the potential to be the hot spot of the area once staffing and business matters are attended to. Can't wait to come back when everything is back to normal operating status. Wireless doesn't reach to the rooms, only in the lodge, no phone or TV in rooms and no Verizon cell service (AT&T works), so be prepared to be off grid for the most part.

Other than the restaurant and desk staff seeming a bit harried, the cabin we stayed in was warm and comfortable. It had a fridge and a coffee pot, a nice shower (more efficient than spacious), and a very small TV. Be aware that there’s no WiFi in the cabins and that cell signal is spotty. But if you’re looking to get away this’ll do it!

Superior experience as we celebrated our 61st anniversary with Paul & his wonderful family. Immaculate accommodations set in a tranquil & beautiful part of the country. A great place to catch up with your thoughts & at the same time appreciate nature as never before. The on-site restaurant in the lodge offers a very nice menu at very fair prices. A must is to finish your meal with a dessert made by Jamie named blueberry lasagna. Just order it, you’ll love it! Everyone should experience Twin Peaks Guest Ranch at least once in their lifetime.
