Es Portal Boutique Hotel offers gastronomic Empordà cuisine, our landscape in our dishes in our ancient farm house (s.XVI), a gastronomic haven with eight rooms and one suite overlooking the plain of Empordà, Montgrí, Gavarres and the magnificent garden of the property. Es Portal Restaurant, on the ground floor, offers regional dishes updated with special emphasis on the different varieties of rice grown on Pals and other well-known local products. Es Portal is close by the medieval town of Pals and the best beaches of the Costa Brava, the Montgrí, Medes Islands and Baix Ter Natural Park and the golf courses of Pals and Emporda Golf .
This is a beautiful boutique hotel with large, luxurious rooms. It is known mainly as a gastronomic hotel which is why it was included on our Flavours of Catalonia walking holiday. We arrived on a Sunday early in May and the hotel was pretty full. We had an amazing tasting menu with top- level service. On the Monday we were the only ones there and they managed to put on a sensational meal just for us. And that’s why we rate it five stars.

We’re not particularly demanding when it comes to hotels - just want a place to wash and sleep. The hotel was lovely - the rooms were clean and the bathrooms nicely decorated. The staff were lovely too and made sure we had everything we needed. Free parking was available which we appreciated. Also, we really enjoyed the breakfast - it had everything we needed, croissants, cereal and savoury choices too. Overall, we would definitely come back!

To the north of Cala de Aiguafreda, one of the most beautiful place on the locality, stands Hotel Cap Sa Sal, a luxury hotel at the heart of Costa Brava. Begur is less than an hour from Barcelona, a stone's throw from the French border, and is surrounded by the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean Sea.
Wonderful views, super rooms, lovely people and service. We stayed an extra night as the whole experience was so enchanting. Comfortable beds and neatly designed rooms with epic sunrises and sunsets. Be sure to explore the coastline.

I invite you to a small and calm village, in the heart of the Costa Brava and 5 minutes from Roses. The comfortable and well decorated rooms, full of details will invite you to enjoy your stay and its exquisite cooking, made with devotion, will make you discover the well-known traditional gastronomy of this area. When you are here, you will see that the house is strategically placed, near the best beaches and 19 kilometers from the Dali Museum in Figueres as well as of Cadaquos; near Girona, the Garrotxa and many other interesting places. I will dedicate you time for advising you, the best restaurant or about the best route, for instance, towards the best creeks so that you can use the maximum your stay. Lodge here and you will enjoy the great breakfast, a more human reception and a family treatment that will make you feel the authentic nature of the hotel business.
In this very quiet town, you will find a gem. Beautifully decorated, large rooms with balconies, super gourmet breakfast which even offers chocolate! Books on hand to borrow, we just adored the toiletries. Also some of the best Wi-Fi we experienced.

B&B * CAFÉ Hostalet dels Indians, a romantic 1866 Colonial house in the heart of Begur converted into a family bed and breakfast. A corner full of feeling where heritage, culture, and rest come together in an authentic atmosphere of "Home Sweet Home "
Just passing by on a walk and peeked in the open door. The open air cafe was inviting. We were seated at a table for two in the sun. A light lunch was all we needed. The owner (presumed) greeted us and took our order. We were not guests in the B&B. Very well treated and the food was excellent! Homemade potato Spanish tortilla and an order of anchovies along with a beer and a sangria. A happy find for us.

We stayed here as part of a large group of students and some older alumni. For the old folks, staying in the bunks beds in the large rooms was something we had not experienced, if at all, since we were students in the 70s. Nonetheless, the facilities were great for what they were. Each bed was clean and comfortable with its own lighting and USB and regular power. The bathrooms were clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. The only down side was the food, which I believe was cooked by a caterer offsite. The dinners were just not very good. But other than that, great place. If I were a college student today, I would definitely stay here!

We have stayed at this site in the bungalows for many years and have always had a fantastic experience. It is quite expensive but it is a premium location with great service from the lovely family that run it. It is right alongside the most beautiful beach and bay with a number of small bars/restaurants catering to all tastes - including great fresh fish. In all the years we've stayed - only missing recent years through illness - we've had a great experience. You can walk along the cliff path to Canyelles to a well stocked supermarket, and buy English papers and fresh fruit and veg. Roses is also walkable but far less attractive/more commercial so perhaps it's a question of what sort of holiday you want. For us and our friends who go back year after year it's a relaxed, unpretentious, beautiful location and Maria's (Camping Ampurdanes) is a very easy place to base yourself for a short beach holiday far away from mass tourism, high rise hotels, and attendant "noise". Their prices reflect demand - many campers (in vans) return year after year (we see them each time we go back) which reflects its popularity. And per previous comments, the shower blocks, toilets and all facilities have always been spotless. Ditto the bungalows which have their own terraces, with shade, to enjoy very long breakfasts or late evenings. Don't be deterred by the negative reviews. I'd recommend this place to anybody looking for a chilled, relaxing break.

Ses Garites is an ancient fortified country house from the 16th and 17th century which has been restored and adapted with all the modern comforts as a delightful small hotel or country retreat. It has 5 very large and spacious bedrooms with great character, as well as a family apartment, a lounge, a library and a dining room. It is very fortunate to be located in a marvellous area of such natural beauty.
We chose the hotel from the Internet due to its beautiful and unique look and location. As for these, it was as expected. An old farm house located in relaxing and wonderful country side setting. The breakfast was very tasty, good selection and more than adequate. The downside was the room itself. Poorly set up and basic and mainly no air conditioning or at least a fan. It was a hot night and we had a problem sleeping. Seems they have not adjusted to the

L’Olivar is a multidisciplinary project combining various proposals under a joint concept: the love of art and nature. L'Olivar premises are located in an olive orchard in the village of Ventalló, in Alt Empordà, Catalonia, where the tract of land has been converted into an artistic project. It is a dynamic space where synergies are created and where, in addition to enjoying the interrelation of the sculptures with the surroundings, you can savor the local gastronomy, listen to good music and spend the night in the rooms.L’Olivar is, above all, a dream under construction based on the concept of living and creating in a rural environment with a great deal of character. We have 4 bright, pleasant, ground-floor rooms surrounded by greenery. They have extraordinary views of the majestic Canigó Mountain, the natural park of L’Albera and the sculpture garden. They each have a private terrace with a wisteria arbor, a comfortable bed, a bathroom, desk, sofa and fireplace. All of them are equipped with wi-fi, a television and a fridge. We have bicycles for our guests. We can come to pick you up in the Girona o Barcelona airport or in the Camallera, Flaçà or Figueras train stations.
This is one of the most tranquil and romantic places in the region. The site is beautiful with art and trees all around. There are only 4 rooms and 2 tents which gives it a very relaxing atmosphere. (also, no children under 14 are allowed which is a big pro) The rooms are nice and clean but lack an air conditioner. This is really only a problem during July and August when it gets really hot. The service is astonishing. During the week i presented them with a numerous questions and inconveniences and every time these were quickly resolved. They are friendly, helpful, and willing to go the extra mile to accommodate you. Breakfast is great with delicious fresh products, and the restaurant at night serves some of the best food i have had during my 6 day stay in the region. All in all i would 100% go back here anytime. (maybe not in July/August if they don't get an air conditioner)
