Laid-back Ella draws travelers to Sri Lanka's highlands with its mountain forests, tea plantations, and relatively cool climate. The wildlife-rich region is also home to caves, cascades, and secluded temples—plus the Ella Gap, which offers lofty views between a cleft in two hills.

Location: Fantastic, a 10 minute walk to the town, or if you fancy it the owner has a tuk tuk and he’ll drop you in for only 200 rupees. Room: The rooms are gorgeous. Very clean. Big comfy bed, all the amenities you need, nice shower, safe etc. We had a balcony that over looked Ellas gap. Easily the best view I’ve ever had from a hotel. The breakfast: It was lush. We got pancake rolls and inside them was bananas, coconut and honey. There’s was eggs and toast, fresh fruit and tea and coffee. And a glass of OJ! All eaten while gazing out at the view! MAMA MIA! The owners: Super warm, kind, greeted us with an ice cold fresh juice! Gave us a bunch of advice, they’ve got pretty good English. They’ve got a laundry service too and neatly folded our clothes afterwards! Overall: I would go back there in a heart beat! Here’s a few pics of the mrs striking a pose on our balcony!

We were as a couple staying at tea Forest Lodge, and this hotel was one of my favourite one in Sri Lanka. The people working there were amazing! So kind and helpful! Very good food for breakfast and dinner too! And the hotel is sooo charming!

Everything was really great. Sampath is just the best host imaginable. It's away from the business of Ella. Shady. Birds. Peace. Green. Quiet. 4 days of relaxation, walked to the 9-arch railway bridge. Food was all wonderful. Sampath is super helpful, friendly, and eager to please. I did not want to leave. Far exceeded expectations !!!

This is a beautiful, family run small hotel with an extraordinary, 360° view on Ella mountains. We have clean and big rooms with own bathrooms with hot showers. In walking distance you find a tea factory, Nine Arch Bridge and Little Adam's Peak.
This room is located right at the very top of the hill. Our driver struggled to get to it in a car, but tuk tuk can easily get to it. I had the best nights sleep here. The room was lovely, new and clean. The people who own it was really noce and really welcomed you into their premises. You can hear and see the train from the balcony of the rooms and it takes approximately 10 minutes to walk to the nine arch bridge. We got a tuk tuk into the centre which cost us around £2. Highly recommend this hidden gem.
