Excellent Stay
Reviewed By keullisWe loved our stay here: perfect location, friendly staff, clean and historic apartment with little goodies tucked away should you need them (toothbrush, bandaids, earplugs). Only downside is no elevator which may be a problem for those with lots of luggage, but at check in we were helped with our bags up the stairs. It was a very hot day when we visited but the rooms stayed cool at night with the windows open, and we did not need to use the fan or any earplugs. Step out the door and you are in the most charming historic old town. Don’t forget to try the city’s famous ‘Smoke Beer’ just around the corner. If I could plan my trip again I would have stayed here much longer and taken day trips to the surrounding area.

Simple and efficient!

Maybe that's why we didn't experience the noise at night other reviewers complained about (the hotel does provide earplugs in your room lol!). Also the price was very reasonable in this month. Breakfast was served at a restaurant across the street. It was awesome, so many choices! It was super helpful to us that there is parking at the hotel, at $10 per night. The best part about the hotel is the location, you are literally in the heart of Bamberg, and everything is only a short walk away. The hotel is very small, our room was right across from the front desk. The room itself offered enough space though. It is super basic, nothing fancy. The two-person bed had two 1-person mattresses. The mattress on my side was really comfortable, but on my boyfriend's side was way too soft, it should be replaced. Also, despite being non-smoking, there was a smell of cigarette smoke seeping trough the walls, especially noticeable in the bathroom. Not sure where that was coming from. Tip in Bamberg: visit Schenkerla brewery around the corner from the hotel and try the traditional rauchbeer!

Reviewed By boj197Very good hotel near Heidelberg ( busstop outside hotel ) balkong at the river Neckar. Very good breakfast and also restaurang both inside and outside. Clean good sixe rooms. Parking at the hotel. Only 1 h to Rudesheim and 1,5 h to Rothemburg ab der tauber.

The Best of Small Town Germany
Reviewed By proftravel4Weinsberg is a small town in south-eastern Germany, near Heilbronn and not far from Heidelberg. This beautiful town is home to the oldest wine school in Europe, is surrounded by vineyards, has original Roman bath ruins, has numerous restaurants and very friendly people. I can’ say enough good about the Burghotel in Weinsberg, Germany. The hotel itself is right in the center to town and less than half a block walk to all the restaurants, and about a block away from the wine school. It is easily reached by car or tram and a short walk from Heilbronn. The hotel is very clean with nice, bright, comfortable rooms and a “snack” room, equipped with mineral water, beer, wine and snacks available at all times. The atmosphere is super – a small hotel equipped with many antiques and a warm atmosphere. Breakfast is fantastic, traditional German with meats, cheeses, eggs, yogurt, fruit, bread/toast, jams, coffee, tea, juice, etc. But the real keys to the Burghotel are owners Norbert and Ruth-Elizabeth. If you are lucky, Norbert will play a little classical music while you have breakfast. He is very skilled and has four pianos and a harpsichord. Ruth-Elizabeth is the finest hostess in Europe! She is very welcoming, attentive and made us feel like family. She greeted us on arrival, made sure we were comfortable, pointed us in the right direction for dinner – and even told us the best and most reasonably priced items on the menus! The next day she and Norbert were most helpful in many ways and made our visit to Weinsberg most pleasurable. This is the finest experience we have had staying anywhere and plan to return.

Reviewed By 2739emmaHotel room nice and clean. Hotel has a late night bar underneath which is quite noisy. We were facing the river so quieter than the street rooms. Absolutely no information in the room. I was asked to check in online, I did and that was the end of the email conversation. Had to go through my booking confirmation to find a telephone number to use WhatsApp and find out about breakfast and wifi. The lack of information is very disappointing.

Reviewed By tbwongThe guesthouse is on the other side of the river, but it is convenient to drive into the center for the day of touring. It is less hectic than in the center, and is better value. Nice, clean shared bathrooms. The access code to access the building was convenient.

Am Familienleben im Zimmer über uns könnten wir sehr gut teilhaben. Das Frühstück war ok, der Service freundlich, Parkplatz vorhanden, zentrale Lage zur Innenstadt. Schade, dass das Restaurant nicht mehr bewirtschaftet wird.

We arrived on Whit Sunday for one night so car wasn't allowed into the town itself so had to pay for parking in nearby car park. This was only four euro for the time we were there so no real problem.My wife and I had the downstairs apartment and our friends a room upstairs. The place is old and dated, no real surprise when you consider location, and is in dire need of refurbishment but it was clean and tidy and we both had a good night's sleep.......The breakfast served by Frau Freund herself was substantial and more than adequate....We found Frau Freund very helpful and a good conversationist. Would certainly visit again.....Excellent value for money.

The style is quite "kitsch" when you look at it from the outside, and inside it's the same -.- Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The rooms were cleaned daily. Our room was facing one of the main streets, so it did get loud at times. The breakfast buffet was good with a selections between cheeses, hams, fruites, etc. and with the possibility to ask the staff for a different variety of eggs, omelette, bacon & eggs, etc. Nice coffee machine. Fresh "Brötchen" each morning. The staff was very nice, in particular our cleaning lady. Mannheim can be reached via train (10 minutes), and the train station is only a 10-15 minutes walk from the hotel. There are trains each 30 minutes. A round trip for 2 costs about 8-9 euros.
