From the very special make-believe lady Dr on reception - who actually drew smileys on plaster with optional color choices - to the informal lost and found service who brought me 1 to 3 mislaid items back to me a day. The deadpan waiter who didn’t flinch at taking - accurate - ice cream orders from all the kids in the conference/playroom leaving us to enjoy a - superb - glass of red wine. The smiles, laughter and patience of the team from friendly cleaning to cheerful management. No mountain is too high for this team. We loved it. Thank you so much. See you soon. Oh, and the hotel was none too shabby either.)))

Friendly honest with a wide breakfast choice
Reviewed By lmthedocWe stayed in the hotel as part of a large family group, with the rest of our party in 2 apartments, The bedroom was not spacious but adequate, but clean with comfortable beds, Be advised, 2 singles beside each other, not a double. The shower was good. Sparkling water in the room, a nice touch. The buffet breakfast had a wide choice, with something for everyone. We also the buffet evening meal one evening, which. catered for adults and children. Finally, one of our party left money in their room, then checked out. This was returned to them by cleaning staff before they realised they were missing it. Full marks for honesty.

Reviewed By Pika322Nice little hotel with all facilities you need (except a good ski -cellar where your boots can dry! had to put them on the radiator of the bathroom each night) Is not 'near' the slopes, you need to take the skibus (only one every hour during weekdays) or a taxi (at night if you want to have a drink or eat elsewhere, costs approx 15€) If you arrive after 9 at breakfast, all the goodies like croissants and other stuff are gone and not replaced. Very lovely hostess

Somewhat disappointed
Reviewed By Mark HI wanted to write a different review. The staff were friendly and attentive, the hotel clean and attractive, the facilities good, but that's where the positive part ends. If you build a hotel that resembles greenhouse, surely the first thing you install is air conditioning? Rooms were far too hot. And far too light (for us). We booked a suite - not cheap. Apparently in order to have your room made up you needed to inform reception before 12.00. Is this new? Have I missed something that is becoming the new cost-saving standard. So unmade room, insufficient toilet paper, waste bins full. Not good enough for the money. And not clearly enough communicated. We booked half board which included an evening buffet. Somewhat hit and miss in terms of quality. The acoustics in the dining area meant that it was very loud and that conversations across the room were easily heard. Not at all relaxing at meal times. So all in all, somewhat disappointed and probably would not return and cannot heartily recommend.

Reviewed By R7866MV_Imagine being stuck in front of the hotel entrance in the middle of the night because your key card doesn’t work and the hotel emergency number doesn’t respond. Imagine the desperation of the person left alone in a foreign country in the middle of the night on the street in winter, without documents and money because you just took your dog out for a 5min walk before going to bed. Well that’s what happened to me and when I refused to pay for that one night I was told that it happens, it’s not their fault and I should pay anyway. Not even an apology. I’m sorry what? 250e for the night you stole my sleep?

Reviewed By Clairev1258We visited the hotel just before christmas and had a great time. The hotel was very clean, the staff friendly and the food was delicious. The pub next door belonging to the hotel was a nice place to visit in the evening.

Hotel/houses in an amazing area
Reviewed By Koen HWe rented a house from the hotel, and it was really nice and had everything we needed, and with a fabulous view on the area. Lots of parking space, and the hotel has a perfect location in the area. Several hiking trails start right near the hotel. And you are only on a 5 min drive of the city , 3 rodelbahns and several downhill bike trails.

Nice pool but very torn rooms

Our family romm was in a villa 100 meters from the main buiolding and was very torn. It could definately need a renovation. Stains everywhere on the carpets and shades. Very cold and humid in the hallways. The windows in the room was leaking cold from the isolation so we needed to boost the heating from the radiators to the maximum. With that there was also a funny mouldy smell. The pool are was very nice and the kids loved the bathing there. Dinner was ok, typical middle german food and several types of food to choose from from the buffet. Bottled water was OVERPRICED. Like 4 euros or something. Breakfast was really nice! The room and building we were put in was horrible, but the restaurant and pool was nice.

Our small hotel is well-situated directly at the beautiful walking and ski area. Most rooms have a nice view. Very near to the Center of Winterberg. The best price in summer, the best place in winter. In the summer nice and quiet. In the winter a real skiing area. Bikers are welcome and they can put bikes in our garage. Our hotel is managed by a Dutch couple but we also speak English, German and a little French.

Reviewed By David_N_NLBooked a midweek through Voordeeluitjes.nl in this hotel. Nice quiet location near the ski-piste. On edge of the centre. Very friendly and helpful staff. Spacious room with very comfortable bed. No lift. First night we had a very good three course meal in the restaurant. Lots of walks in the forests and hilly landscape around the town. The town has loads of places to eat and drink. Good shops as well.
