Affordable accommodation close to the world-famous Waitomo Glow Worm Caves. 9 fully self-contained ground-floor units, all with full kitchens, serviced daily.
Good place to stay for one night. Very clean and tidy motel with everything we needed. The outside surroundings were very run down and overgrown though and to our disappointment the pool was empty and clearly had not been in use for some time. I had the urge to do some gardening to get the place looking good again!!

Extraordinary hosts and lovely property. Definitely a great place to stay on your way to the caves , tramping , a visit to the pub , visit to the falls. An extra plus is the breakfast. Complete by far and perfect for a long day around the region.

We are located in the Waikato, a 2 and a half hour drive south of Auckland and 2 hours across from Rotorua. We are a couple of minutes drive from the world famous Glowworm Caves in Waitomo. Our Motels are world unique, built in part from recycled and natural materials. They have in the past worked hard as a war plane, a navy patrol boat and a carriage from the steam train era. As such they have a slightly lingering aroma from their industrial past, much like any modern vehicle - their scent reflects the materials they are made of. Our Cave Holiday Motel built underground contain natural fibre curtains and some timbers - these too reflect the natural scent of their origins.
Great idea and I bet it was amazing in it’s hay day. Now run down and un cared for, everything needs an overhaul. Rooms lacked basic items, no salt in the shaker or tea towel and dishcloth for example. The novelty of sleeping in a boat was a huge draw for the kids and they absolutely loved it. Host was amazingly easy to deal with and lovely. Thank you, we will be back to stay in the plane next time.

Took the family of 15 mixed ages to stay for long weekend, totally delightful place to stay, close to great walking tracks and amazing restaurant, a totally fabulous stay, enjoyed by all. We would certainly return for future stays. The camp was well run, clean and had all facilities we required. Staff were great at placing us close together with campervan site just outside units.

Our cottages are situated on the highest point of our 1666 acre family farm. Fantastic views of the mountains and central North Island . We have two self contained cottages. Each cottage has its own bathroom with walk in shower, toilet and wash basin. Each cottage is one room with a queen bed down and two single mattresses in a loft above the queen bed. There is a small kitchenette and table in each cottage. We are situated away from the hussell and bussell of the Village and are a great place to get some rest and respite from travelling. Best of all you have Waitomo's World famous Glowworms at your doorstep

We stayed here as a group of four for one night at Easter. The accomodation generally met our needs as a place to crash overnight but a few improvements would go a long way. The carpet was threadbare and there was significant water damage outside the bathroom. The bathroom itself needed an extractor fan and the shower could do with being modernised. For a room sleeping 5, more than two chairs would be useful. The bunk bed was flimsy and the beds in general uncomfortable - some new mattresses wouldn’t go amiss. The kitchen is currently located in what was previously the on-site cafe. An array of appliances are strewn across the bar with various extension cords snaking around the place. One appliance generally needed unplugging to be able to use another. No proper crockery and cutlery was available - some disposable bowls and cutlery were on offer. Luckily we had a picnic set! Customer service could also be dramatically improved. Prior to arriving we were advised our booking had not been confirmed due to no credit card details apparently being provided. Our room had therefore been given to someone else but they had an alternative available (5-person ensuite as opposed to the kitchenette room). We are unclear as to how this happened given you have to put in credit card details to book and we had a confirmation email. However when trying to find a solution, the person spoken with was defensive and becoming increasingly aggressive and there was no apology. On arrival we found our alternative room had no power and when we contacted the front desk, the communication was, again, defensive and not apologetic. It is well located, competitively priced and there is some evidence of recent improvements (internal painting, parts of the wooden decking) but there’s still a way to go to bring this place up to scratch.
