Reviewed By JapandoWe visited Tumbes for a few days doing bustiness at the local beaches The staff was very friendly and eager In special a very pleasant young man named Daniel Sandoval at the reception area that changed our initial room ( had a problem with the sink) and was eager to give us advice while in town. The bar and pool staff were friendly. It was a great place to relax at the end of the day

We did absolutely nothing, but eat like royalty, bath in the sun, walk the tide at sunset and make love. I think there is only 7 units to the whole place so it’s like having you own private beach house. It’s family owned they live on location so your stay is top notch and pampered. It’s important to book in advanced at least one month prior to get a unit; because the place is so well loved!

Great hotel, perfect location
Reviewed By ChicagoViaLondonWe booked for two nights, but with Daniela's help, changed out flights so we could stay an extra night. The room was great, with a balcony right on the beach. The restaurant, bar and swimming pool area was very comfortable, and a great place to watch the sunset. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Daniela helped us organise a moto taxi to a fishing village, and with our taxi to the airport. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Their food recommendations were the best. If we could have stayed for longer, we would have.

Amazing people
Reviewed By 13austenbMy wife and I visited the beginning of April. Lucy and Miramar, were so nice, welcoming, and informative for us, who are American. They got us necessary information, taxis, and let us know about inmpactful local situations regarding the gas strikes that were about to happen, do do civil and governmental unrest, that we were unaware of. That aside, in house them, and the staff were so amazing throughout our 5 day stay! Such a beautiful place to stay! Great food. Great spot. Great people!

Very cozy hotel, family atmosphere, all in white, Mediterranean style, has eight rooms built on staggered levels all with sea views. Medium sized adult pool with jacuzzi and small swimming pool for infants located on the third level with an unsurpassable view of the sea and the beach Due to its location, a kilometer from the entrance arch of Punta Sal, the hotel is located in a quiet and peaceful place,from its arrival the guest is greeted with a delicious Pisco Sour (typical peruvian cocktail), the rooms are comfortables and functional, the beach in front of the hotel (30 mts), is long and wide, ideal for long walks or just letting yourself go and relax, if you are looking for peace and tranquility, this is the ideal place to disconnect from everything and enjoy the peace and tranquility that offers this cozy lodging.
Perfect stay at Smiling Crab
Reviewed By Ruud KWe had the hotel all by ourselves because the situation in the world so there where no other tourist at that moment. Our room was good with a wonderful view to the ocean. The WiFi connection wasn’t that good and that’s why I gave 4 stars because the rest was excellent. If you want te relax and come to rest then this is a very good hotel. Food is good and the swimming pool is also nice.

Reviewed By sandi wWe arrived late and unannounced due to a change in plans. The manager kindly found us a room. He seems like a nice guy and I hope things improve for him. We had a booking for the next few days already in place, though hadnt had confirmation of this. After one night there we cancelled our stay. First impressions were great. A bit of luxury after our long travels. Then..the shower wasn't strong enough to have a proper wash - definitely couldn't wash my hair. The room was clean but really nothing special. The noise from the road outside was bad. Dinner was very mediocre. Admittedly I'm vegetarian but even so...? breakfast in the morning was dire. Everyone was sitting around waiting and just before 9 some rolls and egg finally appeared with a bowl of jam .. very strange atmosphere, very subdued. Perhaps this place used to be nice looking at past reviews.. it has potential..nice pool etc...but something's gone wrong? We opted to pay a cancellation fee and get out. Never normally complain about places but kept thinking if this was a honeymoon or a special trip you'd be let down.

good for one night
Reviewed By alerfI was told this is the best hotel in Tumbes. It is in fact clean, has a restaurant, nice staff. But is still an average hotel. "Warm" water, AC, tv and good wifi. Three stars should be OK for a one night sleep. Very noisy and busy area. I had some troubles with the room I got so they quickly assign me a new one. Besides that everything ran smoothly.

Birthday “bash” during a pandemic
Reviewed By SancurlyThe bungalows at Las Cherelas are very comfortable and well kept. The property is right on the beach- as are the rest of the properties in Canoas the Punta Sal. You literally step out of your bungalow into the beach, which is wonderful. Housekeeping does a great job cleaning. We stayed in their largest bungalow (fits 7) and were surprised that they only had one restroom. Needless to say, it was an inconvenience. The bungalow is large enough, so I don’t know why they don’t build an extra half bathroom at least! The bungalow has a kitchenette with includes a full fridge, which is quite nice since drinks are extremely expensive on site. 20 soles for a pisco sour is excessive. But you can pay about 10 soles for a moto taxi and go to the town and bring back drinks and snacks. Food in general was very expensive in the hotel, and portions were quite small. Service was also incredibly slow. Although the people who work here are very nice, they could use a bit of training. It was quite frustrating that they would bring the entrees before the appetizers, and the coffee before the juice, or forget an order altogether. They ran out of food items constantly but they still had plenty of options to choose from. I found it quite tacky that they charged us almost 10 Soles for a toothbrush since one of our family members forgot theirs. Finally I was very dissatisfied that no one did anything for the birthday girl. We repeatedly emphasized that we were celebrating a birthday from the moment I made the reservation, to the moment we arrived at the hotel, up to the day of the birthday itself! But no one batted an eye. We ordered dessert - which they charged us for- and they couldn’t even find candles ! Finally our server brought us a huge candlestick so we could sing. I wish I could rate it “good” but since I can only rate it average vs very good, I have to go with average.
