Located centrally in Tongeren and as neighbour of the antique market, this hotel is ideal to stay and visit the city and the market. The room was clean and luxury. Only in the shower there was an unpleasant smell (room not used for a long time due to covid?). The check-in was very friendly and you are offered a glass of bubbles, when we told them we don't drink alcohol, they were flexible and offered something non-alcoholic. The breakfast was good, you have enough choice to start your day and once again, you can drink bubbles (cava).

The history of this mansion goes back to 1892, when Louis Steyns started the production of the prestigious shoe brand Ambiorix. This "shoe history" is subtly implemented in the entire hotel. You can have breakfast in the beautiful veranda with a terrific garden-view. The rooms have high ceilings, stone mantelpieces, crystal chandeliers, deluxe wallpapers, parquet and all the comfort one can ask. In the library you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee or a refreshing drink while reading a newspaper or magazine. This recent hotel is close to the station, shopping streets and the largest antiques market of the Benelux. The Gallo-Roman museum, the beguinage, the medieval walls, Moerepoort, ... Are all within walking distance of the hotel. Furthermore, no stress about finding a suitable public parking, because the hotel has its own parking facilities for cars and bicycles. The hotel also has a restaurant (Brasserie Bazilik), where you are offered a reduction on lunch, diner or drinks. 'T Huys van Steyns belongs to the same owners as Boutique Hotel Caelus VII, Tongeren. With only 9 rooms, our personal attention for every guest, is what makes our hotel worth staying in. Pets are not allowed.
I must say this place is probably one if the best places I have stayed in Europe. This is my second time living here so I have stayed in many places. The customer service by far was top rate. Laurent texted me before I even arrived. Asking when we would be arriving. Seemed different but it was to ensure that we were able to get into the gated parking lot. He provided a code for us in case he was not there. When we did arrive he met us in the parking lot and greeted us with a smile. He then escorted us into the establishment and checked us in. He gave us a run down if the area and gave us some pointers in food choices. He was spot on by the way. He provided us with a map and lots if great conversation. He even offered to carry our bags to the room. This place has a lounge and wine and drinks available. The room we had was on the 3rd floor and it was spectacular. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was very nice as well. Everything provided. Breakfast was outstanding. So due to Covid breakfast was changed in how they do it. Physical distance was maintained. Freshly made eggs were provided and Laurent was there making coffee for the guests. Each guest was provided their own serving utensils to serve themselves bread and fruit and such. Cross contamination was eliminated . Oh i forgot when you check in not only is hand sanitizer provided but additional masks were available if you needed on. All in all out experience was excellent. Unfortunately we were unable to spend an additional night because it was booked. However because another guest came by train he offered for us to remain in the gated parking lot over night. It was a relief as we were hiking all day and were in bo real mood to find parking at the other hotel. Which by the way did not even come close to this place. After the market in the morning we returned to the vehicle where we were greeted by Laurent again. Talk about getting to know your customers. By far the BEST place I have stayed in Europe. I will only stay here when I return to the markets. Any place else would just be a disappointment. Top of the line...Well Done Laurent. You know how to make people feel at home. We will be back.

Boutique Hotel Caelus VII is the latest hotel decorated with class in Tongeren. This mansion has been carefully renovated to a hotel with charisma but also serenity. The owners made sure the furnishing was suitable to the building it is in. "Our objective is to give every single guest in one of the 7 rooms a personal service. In this hotel your wishes are crucial to us."
This hotel has already been sected as the best hotel for several years but it has to be the best over 2021 as well. Can't think of anything that is not superb. Maybe one: because it is small it is easuly fully booked.Because it is small there are not many extra's but I come for the fantastic atmosphere, the great service, the delicious breakfast, the clean rooms, the fantastic placement inside the city. It deserves another tripadvisor award.

Bed was SLIGHTLY firm, but everything else was very acceptable. This hotel is a great value for the price and we would highly recommend staying here if planning to visit the famous Antiquemarket on a Sunday morning. Staff was helpful and spoke excellent English. Parking is not included in the room price, but very accessible in the nearby “Q-Park Julianus”. Would absolutely stay here again. 5/5

Very easy to find in a quiet street. Nice rooms and a nice bar restaurant area as well. Not a lot else close by and we didn't want to drive any more so ate here as well The food was good and there was enough along with a nice beer to wash it down. It was used by a lot of the locals as well, so had a good atmosphere

This guest house is beautiful. It has charm and character and the river and garden are also lovely. The room was immaculately clean and you can tell the owners put alot of hard work I to making it what it is. The breakfast was really good and well presented with a good variety. We only stayed one night as we were travelling through but we would definately come back and spend longer here.

B&B Gaudium XII is located in a cozy alley in the historic center within walking distance of the tourist sights and cozy restaurants and the famous antique market. We have 3 comfortable guest rooms with their own sitting area and bathroom. In the morning we serve you a rich breakfast buffet with local products and homemade delicacies. Also enjoy the peace and quiet in our cozy city garden.
We had a wonderful stay at Gaudium XII! We arrived on a Saturday for an overnight stay and to attend the Antique Market on Sunday. We were warmly greeted by Anja, shown to our room and given a welcome drink. We were celebrating our anniversary and she had a little surprise for us too. Room was comfortable and exactly what we needed. Very modern and clean. There is no parking right at the hotel, but there is a garage very close and it was convenient to park there. Breakfast was fabulous and due to covid was served in the room. There is a lovely garden that we hope to come back and enjoy someday with beverages from a well stocked honesty bar. Many thanks for a wonderful stay! We hope to be back again!
