Comfortable and spacious rooms

At my boss' insistence, we relocated from the Shinagawa Prince to the Grand Prince Takanawa partway through our week-long trip. She had asked her admin to book this hotel from the start, but her admin had gotten confused. It's understandable: there are 3 hotels that are named pretty much the same thing within a 5 mile radius. If you've never been, it can be difficult to muddle through. Anyway, check-in was quick and easy, with everyone from the door staff to the front desk welcoming us in with smiles. Check-in was a breeze, and before we knew it, we were being escorted to our floor and to our rooms. I don't know what I'd expected, but the room wasn't it. Not that it was bad - far from it - but my boss made it sound like this hotel was the THING, and that we just had to stay there. Again, I had no complaints. The shower was mold-free (and had blessedly strong water pressure), the bed was comfortable and clean, and I had a nice view overlooking the grounds (shared with the other Shinagawa hotel across the way). I got better quality sleep here than I did at the other hotel, though that could also be attributed to my body adjusting to the 16 hour time difference. I did hang out in the club chairs early in the morning, while I FaceTimed with my husband back at home, or worked with the San Diego team before they called it a day. If you stay here, and the weather permits, definitely get out and explore their grounds. Like I said, there's a path between this hotel and their sister one across the way (which I think is also connected to a convention center). There's a large Koi pond, a bell and some structures that look old and probably had a good sign explaining their presence or importance that I totally missed.

Great choice in Shinagawa

Reviewed By kenji4861

Maybe the best value hotel to stay in Shinagawa right in front of the JR station. You can tell it's a well maintained older hotel, but that also means relatively bigger space compared to newer business hotels. Internet was smooth. 50-60mbps and had no issues streaming and playing games. Really don't have much to complain about. Very well staffed. Everything was clean. Some wear and tear from the age (scratches on the table, torn wallpaper). Bed was super hard, but I was strangely able to sleep thanks to the silence. Downstairs has limited food. There seems to be a lot of western choices like TGIF which Japanese people like, but I don't as a person from the US. Shinagawa itself is not the best place to stay if you are exploring Tokyo it's more of a business district. However, it's a good place if you are just using it as a starting point to take trains everywhere. There isn't much in the area other than A LOT of people working (which is fun to see too) and an aquarium.

Perfect Location

I stayed at this hotel a few days before my birthday. The hotel staff knew that and offered me a bottle of sparkling wine as a welcome gift. I was also upgraded to the Junior Suite. I especially liked the bathtub with an air massage system. The location was perfect and convenient, especially if you arrive or depart at the Haneda airport (HND). Quality of the buffet-style breakfast was OK. Not much food selections though.

This hotel is a great, quiet, clean, well looked after hotel only a few minutes uphill walk from Shinagawa station. You can get to and from Haneda airport via Shinagawa station. There is a 711 store in the hotel across the rd, McDonalds just down the road. Staff were very good, there is a lounge with coffee making facilities, laundry, drink and snack machines. Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa

The New (Shin) Takanawa Prince Hotel was designed by Togo Murano, one of Japan's leading architects. Every one of his design concepts from the exterior of the grand banquet halls to the restaurant interiors to the handpicked furnishings all harmonize beautifully, despite their different functions. This is the largest hotel in the Takanawa complex and it is a monument to individuality, décor and functionality. Like its other two counterparts, the New Takanawa Prince sits majestically on the beautifully landscaped grounds of a 10-acre Japanese garden.

Beautiful hotel, great stay

Reviewed By CanberraSteve38

We were delighted by this beautiful hotel. It was, we thought, a luxurious and special place. We stayed eight nights in total, before and after a railway trip out of Tokyo. The public areas were spacious, elegant and distinctively decorated; our favourite was the superb Momiji Lounge with its views of the hotel's impressive garden. Breakfast in the Momiji was always a treat. The Japanese restaurant and the Club Lounge were also beautiful places. Our two rooms were less distinctive, but they could not be faulted: attractive, comfortable, convenient and wonderfully warm during a period of chilly, rainy weather. All the staff with whom we had contact, without exception, were excellent: so courteous and helpful. We were especially appreciative of the porters and bell staff -- they went out of their way to help -- and the perfect housekeeping service. The hotel's location was superb, close to Shinagawa Station, and there was a frequent shuttle service up the hill to the hotel. We would love to stay here again -- it really was a memorable stay.

Hotel with everything you need

The hotel I used for two nights whilst in Tokyo, it’s a 5 minute walk from Shinagawa on the ‘central line’ of Tokyo line. The easy access means you can get any of the top locations in tokyo within 20 minutes either way. The hotel was nice a clean throughout it seemed very busy during the week but the staff were very friendly on arrival and the check in was smooth. The room was big it had a double bed, desk, tv and I had space to open my suitcase and leave it open without taking up most of the room. Furniture was all fairly new and I had a great view of Tokyo Tower. The bathroom was excellent as ever powerful and hot showers. The bathroom amenities were a good quality providing Face, Body and Hair wash the bathroom also had toothbrush, razor and towel. The cover all bases here so you really don’t need to take any of your own unless you stay longer than a week. No food included in our room as Tokyo has so much you can find a decent breakfast anywhere in the area. Would stay here for business or pleasure.

Tinier than your usual Toyoko-Inn

Reviewed By fairysky

I chose this hotel for its location, with direct train access to Haneda airport and close to Tokyo centre. It took me slightly more than 5 mins walk from Shinagawa station, and it's extremely popular for that reason. However, what I did not expect was that the hotel is really tiny, not so much in terms of room space, but the public area. Frequent Toyoko-Inn patrons will understand, the hotel chain usually provide free breakfast, but due to its space constraints, this hotel can only allocate a tiny area for breakfast, I can understand the seats are a bit more congested, but so are the breakfast variety?? Though it's still tasty nonetheless. In addition, there's only 1 lift, which can be a nightmare during peak hours, especially if you are rushing for train or flights. Next, Toyoko-Inn also provides washing machine and dryer, pity that there's also only 1 set available here. By the way, it's really so near to the station, that noises from the tracks are clearly audible from my room facing the tracks, definitely not for the light sleepers. These are of course, the constraints that the hotel group can do nothing much more to help, but I have to say, the staffs are truly marvellous and helpful despite speaking little English.

My friends and I stayed at the Keikyu twice. We were impressed with the comfortable beds and we all slept well. We made good use of the coin operated laundry and there were some good places to eat nearby. Shinagawa railway station is a two minute walk. Unfortunately we found the breakfast buffet to be a bit underwhelming.
