Luxe and tradition; since 1863 the Grand Hotel des Iles Borromees is the place to stay while visiting the Maggiore Lake area. The builing, the public areas and the rooms feature all modern conforts while still keeping the same belle epoque atmosphere. The park is decorated with statues, fountains and rare plants and the view from the rooms and the restaurant is spectacular. The Medical SPA of the Grand Hotel des Iles Borromees is one of the first in Italy and can offer aesthetic treatments combined with a personalized diet.
this is not an ordinary 5 stars hotel. this is a palace - outside and inside. all the public areas are palace alike - very elegant and impressive. there are inside and outside great pools. the parking is included. we had an elegant junior suite with extraordinary views of the lake and islands. the price is a bit expensive but the whole experience is better than many hotels with much higher prices. extremely recommended.

My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights to celebrate his grandfather birthday. This hotel really has the wow factor. Stunning lake views, 2 pools, a spa and a bar that overlooks Lake Maggiore. The food was excellent, the staff were so knowledgable about gluten free and I had lots of options to choose from. The breakfast also had separate gluten free breads as well as lots of other options. The skybar had incredible frozen cocktails, unlike anything I’d ever tried before. The view both during the day and night was beautiful. The rooms were modern with lake views or views of Stresa. All the rooms had balconies with seats. This was the best room I’ve stayed in during my time in Italy. The whole family had a fantastic time, the birthday party was very special. I know the whole family was very grateful to be back together in such a beautiful place. I cannot recommend this hotel enough for a relaxing luxury getaway experience.

The Hotel Belvedere, located on the quite Isola dei Pescatori, is the right place to forget about stress and relax on the sound of the lake's waves. It is located in and historical building, recently renewed. 19 double rooms; all of them have the private bathroom with shower or bath tub, heating, air conditioning, telephone, satellite TV, WIFI connection free of charge. Our restaurant has a wide dining room on the lake and is open every day, for lunch and dinner. The island is connected to the mainland by the public boats, leaving from Stresa and Baveno every 30 minutes, from 8 a.M. To 7 p.M. We can organize a transfer by motorboat after 7 p.M.
It’s rather exciting arriving at Hotel Belvedere, and feeling the sensation of staying on a small island miles from home. Most of the staff were welcoming and friendly, and our room (JuniorSuite) was absolutely fabulous. Breakfasts were delicious, although the birds on the breakfast terrace were detrimental to the ambience. They kept standing on the tables, and eating directly from peoples’ plates. We were constantly gently waving them away, but some guests were actively encouraging them by feeding them on the table. We chose the half board option, which was a very good decision. We had a three course dinner each evening. The starters and desserts were lovely, but we struggled with the main courses. My husband had the pork dish on the first evening, and it was lovely, but when we both ordered the same dish on the second evening, we both found it to be inedible and the sauce was rather unpleasant. Such a shame, as everything else was lovely. Overall; a lovely stay.

Junior suites have lovely views over the lake or look out over the picturesque mountains behind the hotel. Satellite TV is provided.
Stayed here for two nights as we wanted to visit the Borromean Islands on our way from Switzerland to Lake Como. We’ve stayed in Stresa before on numerous occasions but this was a first fir us at this hotel. The location was perfect: we came from Lago d’Orta, and found the hotel without having to drive through Stresa. Then right across the street is a cobbled walkway that leads straight down to the boats for the Borromean Islands - less 200 meters. We’d asked for a room on the lakeside, which was perfect. The 3rd and 4th floors especially have great views. We’d opted for the half-board option, which, although a very good deal, we might not do in future. The food was OK, but not top quality. We chose to eat there mainly because it was easier. The service, on the other hand - the friendliness of the staff - was top-notch!

Distinctive Turn-of-Century 6-story Hotel in garden setting on shores of Lake Maggiore, facing Borromean Islands.
A very elegant and romantic hotel. Made me feel like living in the old era. I booked with booking.com and probably because the economic fare (380 EUR for two nights) they got me an economy room. A very small room, facing not even the back garden but the parking lot and the secondary entrance, at the first floor. It was very clean, with a very comfy bad and sheets. The bathroom was the smallest I saw in a hotel, clean but with some old signs like stained walls. There were clean towels but only soap, shower gel/shampoo and a shower cap, which I find very strange for a hotel like Regina Palace. I have stayed in 3stars hotels with a better offer of amenities. The breakfast was included and the first day I thought this was also another bad sign, because of the small variety of food. A simply continental breakfast, which you can find in a no name 3 star hotel. The second day I took some time to observe everything around me and I think that the hotel is simply adapting the food to their guests. Those days the hotel had some big groups of happy retired people from north Europe traveling Italy. Anyway, I got the chance to have breakfast outside the terrace both days, and it was amazing. I discovered a wall with the hotel history which is interesting. I think that that they should be proud of it, and invent something about that, not just letting some photos hidden in hall no one pass. The staff was friendly and nice. The idea is that I will be back in Stresa but definitely I will try other hotel like Regina Palace.

The new bathrooms are decorated with marble and duravit bathroom ceramics.bath or shower. all our rooms have got a private balcony with the option of the view on the lake and islands or gardens.
Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights this month, and was very satisfied . Everything that we asked for was done straight away. The breakfast and dinner was good, the room was clean, and everything was replaced without asking. The hotel is not far from the lake, just a couple of minutes walk, and the boat trips are just there, to visit the three islands . We would recommend this hotel .

My husband and I had a wonderful time last weekend at this lovely hotel! When we arrived, we were warmly greeted by Elena. It was a nice bonus that she could speak English so well. All the staff we encountered were very nice! Our room was on the fourth floor with a view of Lake Maggorie. The room was clean and very spacious and had a small balcony. The bathroom was also very generous in size. The grounds around the pool are beautifully kept and the pool was very nice as well. Lots of lounge chairs and umbrellas around the pool for relaxing! There is also a bar next to the pool that is open late. One night after returning from dinner it was nice to enjoy a glass of wine by the pool with friends. The hotel is just across the road from the lake and short walking distance to the ferry service for the lake islands. Also, a nice stroll to the restaurants, cafes, and shops in Stresa. Each morning we took advantage of the abundant continental breakfast buffet full of pastries, yogurt, cereal, toast, waffles, pancakes, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, juice, coffee AND espresso drinks made to order. Each morning my husband and I had a cappuccino with our breakfast. We enjoyed eating outside on the patio, but there is ample seating inside as well. Our stop here was one of many in Europe, so we were traveling with lots of luggage. We were relieved that they had an elevator and air conditioning! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and look forward to returning someday.

The strikingly elegant Grand Hotel Bristol is set amidst beautifully tended gardens and has a wonderful view over the lake and Borromean Island at the foot of the Alps. Conveniently situated across the road from the lake, and only 300 metres from the centre of Stresa, the hotel’s large swimming pool is set in the immaculate grounds and shares the panoramic view of the lake and mountains. There is also an indoor pool at your disposal with two hot tubs.
Good hotel in a spectacular town. First of all the receptionist was very welcoming and friending. Second my room was (332) a Deluxe lake view at the corner. It was quite small but because it was located at corner, so I’ve enjoyed the stay in two balconies facing the lake and mountains, what a breath taking view! The furniture was a bit outdated but very clean. The washroom needs some renovation with better amenities. No iron board or table were available, no bathrobe, slippers or tooth brush kit. So you should make sure to get most of your personal stuff. It was not a big issues for me as I got most of my personal stuff. Third, the food at the buffet and room service was acceptable. At the end the whole town was amazing worth visiting. The hotel has the best location ever and clean but it can be better with some renovation and more available room facilities and amenities.

The Hotel Milan Speranza Au Lac is composed of two side by side buildings on the lakeside in the centre of Stresa. Both the buildings are equipped with reception, lifts, free WI-FI connection and a free PC corner. There is a relax and reading zone, at our customers disposal. The hotel's central position is ideal to easily walk to all the places of the most tourist interest.
Stayed for 2 nights while visiting Lago Maggiore and the surrounding area and it was an excellent base as the boats depart from the pier opposite and the hotel itself is quite charming in an old fashioned way. It's just a short 10 minute walk from the railway station. Checkin was quick and handed a real room-key ( remember those !) to my room on the 3rd floor with a lovely vista of the lake. Bed was comfortable but the pillows were like pancakes and in need of replacing. The room itself was a good size, spotlessly clean (even under the bed) Loved the chandelier , it was beautiful. Wifi worked well and was free . Plenty of storage space in the wardrobe. Bathroom was compact but well equipped and it had a tub , shower was decent and everything worked. Housekeeping starts early so remember to put your do not disturb sign on the door . Breakfast was super, the scrambled eggs with bacon were perfect, hot and self served from the bain marie, just a shame there was no tomato or potato rosti to go with it. Excellent selection of breads, pastries, cereals, cheeses and cold meats as well as some rather lovely fruit tart ( homemade) and fresh fruit too . The coffee or tea order is taken by the well dressed wait staff ! The breakfast room is airy and on the street so you have a view of the lake and the world going past as you dine. All of the staff were a delight, very friendly and helpful. The bar was well priced, do admire their collection of matchbooks on the wall, it's amazing and a throwback to an era of when you smoke anywhere. The hotel while not modern ticks all the boxes if you are staying in the area, it's well positioned, the rooms are perfectly fine, breakfast is super and it's walking distance to all the shops and restaurants and the boat pier too - some of the other hotels are on the edge of town. A good choice if in Stresa.
