Stayed here with work. Check in and parking was a breeze. The room was a standard HI Express room and had everything you need except AC. There is no AC with a small opening windows (standard restricted opening). The downside was the hotel is next to the M6 so there is constant noise and the room like an oven. I did not sleep well. We had dinner at the pub across from the hotel which was lovely and friendly staff. Breakfast was nice ,standard HI Express breakfast although the juices was very watered down and had no taste.

The Moat House Staffordshire, an independent, family run hotel with four coveted AA stars....a unique and very special place. The luxury Moat House Hotel boasts a canal side location in the picturesque village of Acton Trussell. It extends a warm family welcome which guarantees industry leading professionalism and service. Whether your need is for accommodation, fine dining, a wedding venue or the best in corporate hospitality, our beautiful, historical buildings provide the perfect solution. Close to junction 13 of the M6 and within a short drive of Stafford, The Moat House combines a taste of history with leading-edge facilities and unrivaled service.
This is a difficult one. There was nothing intrinsically wrong with this place, and it was a convenient overnight stop in a pretty canal-side location with longboat moorings, close to the M6, but sometimes I guess things are less than the sum of their parts, and for us The Moat House was unfortunately just that. The superior room was quiet and comfortable without being particularly cosy, the bathroom suffered from the all-too-usual "soaking wet floor" problems, reception was efficient rather than cordial, dinner in the bar ticked the box but was somehow un-memorable, and really the only highlight was breakfast, a buffet affair set out in an attractive room, and with a very pleasant waitress serving us tea and coffee and toast and so on. By then, however, the damage had been done, as it were. I'm not quite sure where the issue lies, but my hunch would be that the place deals more in groups and functions and celebrations and wedding receptions than in individual guests. A good many of the reviews here seem to suggest this. It reminded me rather too much of a large chain hotel we stayed in in Jerusalem that was all efficiency and no smiles. But perhaps it was just us. Like I said, there was nothing you could put your finger on, but The Moat House did not present itself as terribly "warm and welcoming", if that's what you want in a hotel.

The Swan has sat in it’s position from the 1700’s, with reports of part of the hotel being used as a college for St. Mary’s Church, dating back to the early 1600’s. Following extensive refurbishments and renovations throughout it’s life as a hotel, The Swan is now a highly reputable hotel, and, with it’s key location on Greengate Street, offers patrons the chance to put their bags down and enjoy a relaxing and refreshing drink. Whether you are looking for a welcoming place to spend the night or would simply like to enjoy a drink or a bite to eat surrounded by friendly faces, The Swan is perfectly placed, right in the centre of the historic town of Stafford. It has its own large car park, offers all-day dining and an in-house coffee shop, along with free WiFi.
I stayed for a night while in the area for work. The hotel was great, smart decor and comfortable rooms with a good bar and restaurant, pie of the day was great and a good breakfast choice. Make sure you use the right postcode for the car park, I did and it was fine, but could be complicated.

The fan in the bathroom was very noisy & took ages to switch off after the light switch was turned off. The occupants of the room above were stomping around until way past midnight & then somebody banged on our bedroom door. The breakfast room was extremely small & very busy. The two young ladies that were staffing it were trying their best but were run off their feet trying to book people in, clear tables, restock the continental breakfast foods, get clean mugs, and deal with a coffee machine on the blink! The chef was surly & could do with a lesson in customer service! The reception staff were very nice, cheerful & welcoming

The Vine Hotel carries the accolade of being the oldest pub in Stafford. Located in the centre of the town, tucked down one of the many narrow side streets, The Vine offers a wealth of 'olde worlde' character to its guests. The hotel is ideally situated within walking distance of all the main attractions that Stafford offers, including the Gateway Theatre, Ancient High House and the Shire Hall Gallery. We offer secure parking for our hotel guests, just call in at reception and we will lift the barrier for you. Our pub has a traditional feel, with cosy corners, and classic pub food is served all day. A wide range of drinks are available from the bar. At the Vine Hotel, we pride ourselves on our friendly service and you are assured of a great stay whether for business or pleasure.
Said to be the oldest inn in Stafford, it is very convenient for the city centre - and it is competitively priced. Our room was much smaller than the on-line sample photos. There is no lift and the staircases are steep, narrow and winding. There is no breakfast bar and it is necessary to ask for everything that you would like, eg toast, fruit juice, etc, etc.

Bridgewood House is centrally located in the heart of the town, a stone’s throw away from many well know high street retailers, superstores, restaurants, and cafes plus a good selection of independent options too. Stafford Rail Station and bus links are directly opposite the building offering easy access to nearby cities for work, to visit family and friends or venturing out into the rolling Staffordshire countryside in your free time. Bridgewood House welcomes both corporate and leisure guests for both short term and long term stays
I have not yet stayed at the Bridgewood, but I thought it was worth a shout out as to how the staff recently dealt with my last minute cancellation. According to the policy to cancel, I needed to do so by 16.30 the day before arrival, which I understand - fair enough, however the Theatre only informed me on the morning of my stay that they were cancelling the show due to Covid I phoned the hotel and they couldn’t have been nicer or more helpful, Stephanie said that I could just book another date, but as I didn’t have one from the theatre yet, she waivered the cancellation fee and I have had all my money returned. They could have easily just said - “that’s the policy” and taken the cash! Thank you Bridgewood

We arrived at Stafford Apartment number 6 and the apartment was absolutely filthy (see my pictures!), the bed had some stains which looked like bodily fluids, and the sofa and chair was so disgusting that we didn't dare sit on them. The bathroom was very narrow, no windows and smelt mouldy and damp. We contacted the management company but no response, so we had to quickly find a hotel to book into for the 2 nights we had organised. I was onto Booking.com straight after and to their credit, Booking.com was excellent and refunded all my money. I've read the other reviews here and I cannot understand why our apartment was so bad. The apartments are straight next door to a nightclub, and we were very dubious of what our apartment was used for being straight next to the club. Please note, we did not see any of the other apartments which could be amazing, but ours Number 6 was appalling. If you are offered Number 6, then AVOID it! I eventually found a room at the Holiday Inn Express, and it was cheaper that this apartment, and a heck of a lot cleaner!
