Srinigar is a modern waterworld, dominated by Dal Lake and its twisting waterways, tree-lined Nagin Lake, and the Jhelum River. Engulf yourself in local culture by embracing your sea legs and renting one of the wooden boats called shikaras for a daytime or twilight cruise. On land, stroll through the terraced hillsides of the 400-year-old Mughal Gardens, created by Emperor Jehangir for his wife, and shop for indigenous crafts like hand-woven silks and embroidered shawls.

We would like to mention special thanks to the team of Vivanta by Taj Srinagar for making our stay memorable. I planned the stay as a treat to my wife as it was her desired property, she always wanted to visit and I wanted to make it special for her and same was mentioned to Burhan who was handling our stay. He made all arrangements as I asked and it turned out to be wonderful and memorable. Entire staff is very kind and helpfull. The property itself is located at an excellent location. It is worth staying at Vivanta if you are in Srinagar.

BLOOMING DALE is located in the heart of Srinagar just 2 - 3 minutes walk from world famous Dal Lake. Our rooms are spacious and the baths neat and spotless. Food is served with great sense of hospitality and strictly as per choice of the guests.
If I have to review one thing about Srinagar its this excellent stay hosted by an unbelievable host. Located near dal lake this hotel has all the amenities to make anyone's stay comfortable. It also has a small to enjoy the great weather. But the best part of the hotel is an excellent host in the form of Mr Firdous. He goes out of his way to make your stay comfortable. Mr Firdous continued to help me even after my stay had ended. How many hoteliers would do that? It speaks of the famed Kashmiri hospitality. I would strongly recommend everyone to stay at this hotel.

Dear traveler, we feel pleasure to present New Sea Palace Houseboats as a guide to many activities and tours that we offer in the valley of Kashmir and Ladakh (Little Tibet). Since 1925, this firm has been in the houseboat business, arranging numerous activities and has a very wide experience in guiding tourists safely as professionals. Kashmir's greatest attraction is the houseboat: life on the houseboat offers you homely atmosphere, modern amenities and your very own staff to cook delicious meals for you. Vendors glide past in shikaras offering a floating market of fruits and flowers and experience not to be missed. The New Sea Palace Houseboats are moored on the serene Golden Dal Lake abashed with Flower Gardens, 5 kms from Srinagar, the summer capital of Kashmir and 17 kms from the airport. We look forward to welcoming you with the garlands of long living flowers. Your host Mr Ali Mohammad Kashmir, the mental offspring of sage KASHYAPA has been extolled for his bewitching exuberance of the prowess of nature from time immemorial. NILAMAT PORANA, the most ancient extant chronicle of Kashmir, praises it as the land, "Wearing the springs, ponds and mountains bestow virtue." KALHANA calls it The abode of "learning, Palacial House, Saffron Fields, icy waters and grapes." His compatriot BILHANA pays glorious compliment to his own birthplace, the saffron and poetic talents are the progeny of the same mother that is Kashmir. In Persian lore it has been equated with "Paradise on Earth." Such lavish eulogies don't seem exaggeratedly unfounded when the physical eye is irresistibly arrested by lofty snowcapped virgin peaks, evergreen meadows embroidered with rainbow hued flora, majestic Chinars defying onslaughts of time, bubbling brooks with child like un-artificiality and sylvan expenses reverberating voice of silence.
The New Sea Palace is an excellent place to stay - Very well maintained and huge spacious rooms which were well furnished. - The people onboard were nice. The way the speak to us and their punctuality is well appreciated. - The food was also good. Home cooked and delicious food. - All the rooms has beautiful walnut furniture, giving it a royal look. - All all house boats, excellent view and there is always a people selling ware on the boats. - Lighting could be better but I think its the culture there to have such lights. Highly recommended.

The beautiful Premium Kolu Group Of Houseboats and the beauty of cobalt Kashmir Dal lake are forever ready to arrest you and make you proud that you are a part of this magnificient country India Kolu Group Of Houseboats was built in the year 1940 and ever since then we are pleased to be at your service. The name of our first house boat was Shellanne which was built by Mohammad Kolu in the year1940.Later on,in the year 1944, two more houseboats came in to operations which were supposed to be the very first special class houseboats in Dal Lake. These two special class house boats were built by a joint venture of four Kolu brothers and they were named as Shabash and New Shellanne respectively. The four brother's joint venture consisted of Ahmed Kolu, Jumma Kolu, Ghulam Qudir Kolu and Mohammad Ramzan Kolu. It was in the year 1962, the very first Deluxe Luxury House boat was built in Dal lake which was named as Pride Of Kashmir which earned a lot of fame and is still a pride to the owners. Kolu group of house boat is an epitome of the family bond and as a result the management through the years are been taken over by the following generations. At present we are proud of announcing the largest number of deluxe luxury house boats in Kashmir. The entire management is taken care of by the management of Kolu brother which is leaded by Nazir Ahmed Kolu and brothers.
I stayed at the Gulrose houseboat of Kolu group of houseboats. This booking was done online as the regular houseboats were all sold out. The house boat was quite expensive and costed me around 18k for 3 persons on MAP plan. Coming to the good part - the location is good, just across Ghat no 13, rooms are clean and comfortable, bathroom is clean and usable. The not so good part - The owners of this houseboat stay at Delhi and the houseboat is managed by staff and this makes all the difference. There is nothing like Kashmiri hospitality in this houseboat. For dinner we got Punjabi chicken inspite of requesting well in advance that we preferred local delicacies like Gushtaba etc. Breakfast was also not good with standard toast, undercooked omlette and poha. We wanted to try noon chai but the staff refused saying that it takes lot of time to make it. Even the Kahwa that was served didnt seemed authentic and was like the standard dip that we get in the cities. The houseboat does not serve water during dinner and breakfast and charged us 80 Rs for every bottle of water that we consumed at the dining table. I feel this should have been clarified at the beginning itself because even the most basic of houseboats serve water during dinner and breakfast and secondly charging 80/- for a 10/- bottle. So in short the houseboat does not justify its high price tag, there are several other houseboats around that are much reasonable with similar services. I will not return to this houseboat.
