Newer, clean hotel, good amenities, great location

Reviewed By lsA7069FY

Reasonably priced, newer, very clean hotel in an excellent location. A subway station is one minute away and the main Shinjuku train station is within 10 minutes walking distance. Our 7-night stay was for business, and we extended the trip for some relaxation. Booking a twin room and pushing the beds together gives you a larger bed and more room overall. Our twin, non-smoking room had great amenities: microwave, adjustable between 500 - 700 watts; small refrigerator; combo washer/dryer. Several packets of laundry detergent were provided at check-in (a least for a 7-night stay). WiFi was excellent--we were able to stream video with no problem. We had no issues with noise from the street or other guests. Some things to note: The refrigerator does not have a "freezer" section near the top; it keeps things cool, but obviously won't hold ice or frozen food. Electrical outlets are abundant, but there are no convenient places to plug in a grounded (3-prong) plug to charge a laptop. However, you can probably unplug the trouser press or lighted vanity table and use one of those outlets if needed. We travel with adaptors, so it was not an issue. Note that there is no daily room cleaning, but they will provide clean towels. You control the air conditioning in the room: you can set it all the way down to 18 celsius if you'd like for sleeping. Using the washer/dryer does heat up the room a bit (as does the heated mirror in the bathroom, which we could not turn off). There was a sliding door separating the sleeping area from the entry/bathroom area, and closing it improved A/C efficiency. If you want a washer/dryer in your room, make sure it is listed when you book the room--washers are not available in every room. Restaurants and bars are abundant around the hotel, though during our visit, their hours were limited and many places were closed due to the COVID state of emergency. There is a Family Mart convenience store around the corner that has good breakfast options and very good refrigerated microwavable meals. The area is very LGBT-friendly. We highly recommend this hotel and hope to stay here again.

Wonderful service and location

Reviewed By peacelovegelato2020

Every staff member was extremely helpful and kind during our stay. One of the front desk agents helped us make a reservation in Japanese at an amazing sushi restaurant. We think it was the best meal of our lives so we were very grateful for their gracious help. The location of the hotel can't be beat with Shinjuku station just a short walk away. There's a Lawson convenience store right downstairs if you need anything, and the Golden Gai with plenty of bars is right behind the hotel. The neighborhood is lively and vibrant but the inside it's quiet and relaxing. Our room was a decent size and VERY clean. I really loved the dimmable light next to the bed. Thank you for a perfect stay! We can't wait to come back!

Excellent design/quality

Reviewed By johnvtokyo

Just stayed here for one night ... it is wonderful...our room overlooked the Gai-en park/Akasaka Palace with the tall buildings more than a mile away. When the ginkgo trees change color, it must be an awesome view. The hotel is of course basically brand new and it is wonderfully designed with a lot of wood, gray slate walls, a walk-in shower/ tub that is quite spacious and chic, and the beds were large with excellent linens. No cheap towels here, they are large and fluffy. The restaurant downstairs is a bit expensive but also very chic with many well appointed Tokyoite customers. They even have a grass lawn with chairs where you can have coffee or lounge about next to the park. It is true that it’s right next to the highway and a railway but inside the rooms is quite quiet at least on the ninth floor. Clearly it would be best to face away from that side if possible. The rooms are not large but not so cramped that you can’t get through. The balcony is very nice... like an extension to the room with floor to ceiling windows. Will definitely be back!

Lovely hotel in a lovely place. Very be well looked after, rooms cleaned, towels, tea and biscuits renewed each day. Went on coach holiday all over Japan, back here after every trip. Well worth the money, would certainly go back. Cherry blossom season definitely the best time to go. Mount Fuji a sight in itself especially with cherry blossom and pagodas around - a sight you'd never see here.

Best location, walk to station

Reviewed By Drewbear97

We’ve been to Shinjuku many times and the Prince Hotel is by far the best location for us. We travel heavy with skis and way too much luggage. You can walk underground from the main Shinjuku station to the hotel. All the shops and restaurants are right there. Opt for a room upgrade and negotiate the price at check in. Get an upper floor for awesome views.

A wonderful stay

Reviewed By carnellin

The room is spacious, the location is not in the main Shinjuku, the closest station is Okubo and we love the Aeon mini supermarket below as it provide us almost everything we need for daily necessities. The hotel itself is an apartment, we stayed in a junior suite that comes with a washing machine and dryer in one. There's 4 of us and during this covid 19 outbreak we wash all our clothing including jackets on daily basis using hot water. It was very much appreciated by all of us. It may took around 6-8 hours for all of the clothes to be completely dry but we just went to bed every time and in the morning it will be done. Every details is in Japanese just use a google translate to operate the machine. The shampoo, conditioner and body wash is provided in full size bottles like most hotels in Japan, but if you have sensitive or specific issues with your scalp or hair just use your own. Again, back to the room, spacious and it is a real apartment with a view that we love. All the windows could not be open, we wish it can since we cooked a lot, and yes all the pots and pans are provided with adequate fridge till freezer too, there's microwave oven and kettle too, it was a full functioning apartment perfect for us for the whole 10 days. The room is cleaned daily and we also love the separate toilet and bathroom for convenience. There's two tv's and two sets of aircons, 3 beds consist of 1 kingsize, 2 single sizes. The pillows are a bit hard and not really fluffy, some even smells like saliva, I wish they can change the pillows. On the second to last day we sent our luggages to the airport (paid around 4400 yens) so 2 of them are ready in Haneda. Just go to the lobby and the hotel staffs with help you, everything is sufficient and practical. There's also an ice machine. But bottled water only given 4 on day one and not daily. The slippers are also given once. We only have 2 pairs in the room. There's daily pajamas so like most Japanese hotel, so it is help us to carry less stuffs. There's a small gym on the lobby but we never use it. There's one cherry tree right in front of the lobby, looks pretty when it blossoming. I think we will stay here again for our next visit in Tokyo since the experience is really good, we love the convenience of the kitchen, washing machine and bath/toilet plus there's so many restaurants nearby too so we didn't take the breakfast option which is also quite cheap.
