Thon Hotel Otta is a metropolitan hotel with 85 recently refurbished rooms, as well as meeting room facilities for up to 220 people. The hotel is a natural stopping point when travelling from Oslo to Trondheim, and its nearest neighbour is Rondane National Park.
Thisl is a relatively large, modern, well kept hotel in a small town in eastern Norway. Rooms were clean and had all the usual features one expects from a hotel of this class. Service was friendly and efficient. Breakfast was very good but dinner offered few choices and might not satisfy some guests. They apparently get many busloads of tourists for overnight stays so the facilities are crowded at times.

Sjoa Hostel is scenically situated in tranquil surroundings between the rivers Sjoa and Gudbrandsdalslagen. Sjoa Hostel is originally a farm from the 1200s, but we offer accommodation and facilities of a good standard, whether you choose family cabins or 2, 3 or 4 bed room in the new department. All our rooms and apartments have private bathrooms. Buffet breakfast and other meals are served in the main building from 1747, where the open fireplace and log walls provide a very special atmosphere. In addition Sjoa Hostel offers good and varied activities for young and old, including rafting, canyoning, river boarding, rope activities, mountain riding and musk safari. From us you have an excellent starting point for hikes in the mountains, with short distance to the national parks Rondane, Jotunheimen and Dovrefjell. River Sjoa is also suitable for fishing with rod and fishing is free at the hostel grounds. Welcome to Sjoa Hostel.
We stayed here because the white water rafting trip leaves from there and it was convenient. It's grounds are pretty but the rooms are kind of like dorm rooms. Not a big deal. They're clean. The guy running the place was very nice as well.

An attractive and modern mountain hotel in a magnificent setting. The hotel is situated 1000 meters above sea level terrain at the beginning of Rondane National Park, 120 km north of Lillehammer and 8 km from the E6. The location is stunning with panoramic views and surrounding mountains. Access by car or train to Otta and from there by bus.
Looking for a place to relax for the Autumn, I came across the hotel, via Trip Advisor, and I must state that the description of the hotel needs to be upgraded - It was fantastic - in all ways. The service was excellent provided by Tore & his team, even clearing the snow, by hand, to our cottage in the morning before breakfast. When one defines breakfast, on our first morning, we were only two quests staying, BUT, we had the perfect selection - just for us ! Evening meal was also an experience, very traditional Norwegian food, and plenty of it. Arriving for an Autumn break, within 2 hours we realised we were having a WINTER break !?! But, this was well solved by the management. For me the Cottage - Nystugu, has great views, and a perfect solution. Thanks again for a fantastic stay, We will be back.

Stayed here for only 1 night in early September. The camping was completely empty and the reception was locked. Had to ring a bell to alert the staff we were here. Not an issue though. There were three guests at the camping while we were here. A Swiss couple with their caravan, and another couple in a cabin far away from ours, and us. We saw the others once during our stay. It felt like we had the sanitary facility all by our selves <> Classic cabin, all in wood <> The beds need an upgrade + The radiator did heat up the cabin <> A small outdoor sink just nearby our cabin. Wasn't super fresh but it did have running water + Good location of Besseggen. An 30min drive to the dock. <> The sanitary facility was okey. We were always alone so everything was fresh. Did not try the showers. We travelled in September and it pretty much looked like the camping season was over. Minimum activity and not that many cars even driving by.

Welcome to the mountains! At the gateway to Rondane, Norway’s first national park, Smuksjøseter Fjellstue lies 1130 meters above sea level, in the heart of the mountain world. The Skaugen family welcomes you to the mountains. Close to nature At Rondane Smuksjøseter Mountain Lodge you have the opportunity to stay at either single or double room, in apartment or cabin. The lodge is placed by the border of Rondane National Park in Norway beside a beautiful lake. Stunning views and quite surroundings. During winter it can only be reach on skis or you can hitch hike on the snowmobile that has daily departures from Høvringen. The restaurant serves home made, local food.
We had booked a weekend stay for a larger group. The owners clearly did not have an overview of our booking. Many different prices and a lot of mistakes done regarding bed linen, apartments and rooms. The schedule for our weekend main meal was changed to an earlier hour, due to the fact that the owners had double booked for two large parties at the same night. This resulted in a lack of staff for our three course dinner highlight - which was not a highlight at all. The staff was clearly not quialified, they did not know the serving concept and were not co-ordinated at all. Drinks were served 25 minutes after the first course, and all parts of the group had to order seperately. The main course was served before everyone had finished their first course. The dessert was served when half the group was still eating their main meal! The staff was uninformed, inexperienced and not service minded - poking several guests asking if they were finished with their meal. The service personell did not speak the local language at all, a big drawback when several of the guests were elderly and that the hotel and location brags of being a local and tradional destination. In addition, when the owners were contacted in order to better the situation, the owner blamed our group and the organization of the event, even though they were the ones responsible. Truly a fiasco event. The food was nice, especially the main course, but the first course was at a minimum and the whole three course menu was served within an hour. Not acceptable! The two-night stay was not nice - very expensive and not worth the trip unless you truly love the mountains. Hopefully, the owners will step up their game, get a grip of the organization structure and reduce the prices. This was not a success.

Very fine food and breakfast. Top class kitchen chief and nice room with your own bath and toilet. Very quite and in the middle of Rondane National Park. Skiing tracks just outside the door. Would like to come another time. Best regards from Lone & Henrik ( Denmark )

As a visitor from the UK in February I found myself arriving to a hotel full of Danish families which added to my experience of staying here. The hotel was perfect and met all my requirements - excellent single bedroom, good food and friendly and informative management (Monica) which assisted in the selection of my cross-country excursions. It is a wonderful cross-country skiing area and basically several trails start from the hotel. I look forward to a return visit.

Mountain lodge situated at 1000 meters in Hovringen, with spectacular views of the mountains of Rondane National Park and the beautiful valley Gudbrandsdalen. A fantastic cross country and hiking resort with more than 120 km of prepared tracks in the winter and over 150 km of marked trails in the summer. Oigardseter has modern standards in a conserved traditional Norwegian style and atmosphere.
We needed a place to spend the night in the holiday season, and found this place beautifully seated on the edge of the Rondane national park. The family room was simple, with two bunk beds and a bathroom. It was spotlessly clean, and we slept well. We had a couple of drinks in the bar before we went to bed. The sitting area is charming and typical of the Norwegian mountain lodges with its rugged pine furniture. The breakfast had what you expect. Nothing fancy, but bread, cereals, egg and bacon was there. We liked it. If you need a place near Rondane and like it clean and functional, this may be the place for you.

We stopped here for lunch on a day trip skiing around the area. Very friendly welcoming staff, we bought drinks and they allow you to eat your own packed lunch in the cafe downstairs. Cosy and a welcome chance to sit down for a rest! Just what we needed. The XC trail signage in this area can be a little bit confusing at times until you know your way around son if you want to be sure of not taking a wrong turn, use a map!
