The hotel was incredibly clean and comfortable. Our stay included a free breakfast which was as excellent as the room. We particularly enjoyed the view. Don’t wear flip flops or the walk to breakfast might be a challenge. The next time we are this way we will definitely stay here again!

The hotel & restaurant are located just off the Pan American highway but what a beautiful tranquil spot. We bought a package which included our meals, room & 2 tours. Everything was first class. The hotel room is rustic but charming with an incredible view of San isidro. The food was basic but delicious. I cannot say enough about the zipline & the ATV tour. The guides were professional & friendly & safety oriented. I am a senior & appreciated their assisting me without making me feel like I was a chicken. This is a Tico family owned business who will go out of their way to ensure that you have a special stay.

The place is clean and the rooms are comfortable. The free breakfast was good and allot to choose from. The Casino has allot of machines, and they offer free beverages. It's located in downtown, so plenty of places for shopping and eating. You can catch a bus for in town and out of town travel. Taxis are easy to catch from downtown. English is spoken by some people at the hotel. I recommend this hotel.

Welcome to San Isidro, the largest city in the southern zone of Costa Rica, also affectionately referred to by locals as Perez Zeledon, located in the province of San Jose. In the Valley of the General, surrounded by Talamanca Mountains, the Cordillera de Talamanca is a Mountain range that lies on the border between Costa Rica and Panama. The Hotel Zima is undoubtedly the quietest hotel of the area, with a convenient location nearby to supermarkets, drugstores, restaurants, stores and bars, as well a just meters from the Musoc bus station which provides transportation service between San Jose- San Isidro-San Jose. Many tourists utilize San Isidro del General as a stopping point when traveling between San Jose and other southern Costa Rica destinations such as Dominical, Uvita, Golfito, the Peninsula de Osa and Puerto Jimenez. Perez Zeledon is also great town to prepare for treks to Cerro de la Muerte and Cerro Chirripo, which is Costa Rican's highest peak and most challenging climb. In summer it is possible on clear days to see all across the country (from the Pacific Ocean to the Caribbean Sea). It would be a pleasure to coordinate your tours to Nauyaca Water Falls (road to Dominical) as well outdoor activities such as bird watching, horseback riding in Las Quebradas Center Biological.
My buddy and I had a one-night stopover in San Isidro and chose the Zima. The hotel is located off a quiet street well away from the main highway so it was very quiet. The reception staff were pleasant and efficient. The grounds and the pool are attractive and kept tidy and clean. The breakfast service was somewhat limited but the meal itself was very well prepared and very tasty. Service was excellent. Our room was average for the price. It was very clean and the two beds were comfortable. The A/C functioned well. The shower uses an electric heater which some find scary but i just found a tad slow to heat. We were short a couple of towels but when we asked, they were quickly provided. TV had multiple spanish language channels and CNN. But that seems to be the norm throughout Costa Rica. We had room 21 and my main complaint is that it was very dark. The one window provides very little light into the L-shaped room. This was Ok for one night but would be an issue for a multi-night stay. There are not a lot of spots in San Isidro but the Zima is probably one of the better choices for a short stay.

Upon our arrival, the hotel was completely silent. There was not another person in sight, besides the man at the front desk and the security that had let us through the gate. We immediately noticed the cubby system for the room keys directly behind the receptionist. For one, most every key was sitting in its respective cubby hole. But more importantly, there was no security for the keys. It was an open system with no covering or lock system over the keys. Anyone could walk behind the front desk and take a room key, and let themselves into any room. The receptionist was friendly enough, checked us in and told us our room was on the second floor. There was no elevator, so we carried our bags up the stairs ourselves. I have had six knee surgeries and a shoulder reconstruction, so this was not easy for me. Upon entering our room, the first thing we noticed was the door to the room did not close all the way and there was a large gap between the door and the doorjamb. There were water stains all over the door and it was very warped. We overlooked the door and started to settle in. We started by turning on the very small AC as it was off and the windows were left open. The screens over the open windows were broken apart with many holes in one and the other only partially attached on the sides. So not only was the room very hot, it was full of mosquitos. In a country that is known to have illness and disease spread by biting insects, mosquitos in particular, this is absolutely unacceptable. I understand that it is common practice to minimize energy by reducing air conditioning, but not like this. The sign on the door to the bathroom asked us to keep the bathroom door closed so the room would stay cool. The room cooled a tiny bit, but it was still quite uncomfortable. We went to lock up our valuables and noticed the safe was locked, so my boyfriend went down and asked for the key to the safe. He was told that they didn’t have any guest keys to the safes on the property, as they were all lost. The only keys for the safes were a couple of back up keys, and guess where they were? Out in the open, in one of the cubby holes near all the regular room keys. So even if we did have a key for the safe, someone could just walk behind the receptionist desk, grab the back-up key to the room and the safe, and then steal everything important with no trouble. My boyfriend came back to the room and attempted to lock us in for the night. When we went to lock the door knob, we noti
