Let's start with the good. Yes, this is likely the top hotel in Ruteng, and the garden is indeed very attractive, the centerpiece being the fishpond. Breakfasts are also very good indeed, and the restaurant serves outstanding meals a la carte (I particularly recommend the garlic chicken). Our twin room, however, was nothing like the photos the hotel uses in its promotional materials - sure, maybe one of its rooms is as depicted, but ours was very standard, small, part of a block of rooms backing onto a major road that remained busy until 10 pm or so. Next, ventilation and fresh air is via small windows that swing open outwards, yet there are no mosquito screens, which means having to keep them closed; as there's no a/c or even a fan, the room becomes fairly stuffy and warm. Even that would not be enough to trigger as much negativity as I feel about this place.- the main problem is that the block is 2-level, and our room was on the lower; the room above ours was occupied by elephants, apparently, tramping on the wooden floor until late at night and again early in the morning. If the cost of the room would have been half of what I paid, my rating would be much higher. But as it is, this place is not worth its cost. Do dine in the restaurant, though!

WE ARE NOT LOCATED IN THE TOWN RUTENG. OUR PLACE IS THREE HOURS DRIVE TO THE EAST OF RUTENG TOWN. AND ONE HOUR DRIVE TO THE WEST OF BAJAWA TOWN. Two large rooms with terrace, located at the seaside. Large bathroom with western toilet. Breakfast, tea & coffee included. Lunch / Diner on request available. Located in a small village, view at the bay of Aimere, the mount Inerie and the harbour Wae Wole. ( Traditional village Belaraghi on half an hour drive and 45 minutes to walk ) Our languages : Dutch, Indonesian & English.
we only stayed one night to make a stopover between Moni and Labuan Bajo but we would have liked to stay there so the welcome was nice and warm, the rooms are clean, quiet and with a sublime view from the beach. there every thing seems to be right in its place and it feels divine! I highly recommend this place !!

She is gonna help you with everything! nearby is a café called Agape. They have vegetarian food etc for really good prices. The owner recommend me and i loved it. absolutely recommend the place to stay

The best thing about Sun Rice hotel is Jeff and his family. From the moment we booked he took care of us. He is a leader in the community and knows all the best places and routes. His English is fluent and he's a great tour guide. Very adaptable and sensitive to the needs of his guests. You will experience Ruteng in a special way. His wife is a great cook and his Homestay is clean and comfortable. Make sure you take the Sun Rice sunrise walk and have Jeff take you to the best bakso restaurant! Also the waterfall trek is amazing. We got to sit in for his church choir practice and met many of his extended family. We didn't just visit Ruteng, we made new good friends there.

Its a long walk to the nearest food place, which is all the way into town if you stay here. And when we stayed in Hobbitt Hill, 3 nights, they didnt have food.....maybe sometimes they do but obviously you cant count on it. Very long walk. With motorbike okey. And also note that there is a fairly busy road right in front of your door...just a few bushes between....road going to the bus terminal so traffic all the time. So if you dont have a motorbike, then better stay in town.

Absolutely wonderful experience staying with Ricardo and Linda! Rooms are in their house and we stayed in a room with a private toilet - it was comfortable, spacious, and immaculately clean. Ricardo brought us about on a day tour and he was friendly, informative, and spoke great English. We even dropped by his family's place and they were such hospitable and amazing people to be with (not to mention the delicious local durian!!) Thanks to the both of you for your hospitality!

I stayed here with some colleagues for business trip. The hotel was very big. The staffs were friendly. My room was big clean and comfort. There was no AC since the weather here was very cold. The breakfast was average and there were not many choices.

Ara Garden Inn is an eco-friendly hotel located in Ruteng, on the slope of Mandosawu mountain, west Flores, Indonesia. A serene place in the mountain area of Flores island, Indonesia. Ara Garden offers you an idyllic romantic place with a beautiful garden scape, a river-side yoga studio located right at the heart of nature surrounded by lush green bamboo forest. After spending the whole day trekking and exploring Ruteng area, our therapist will also be ready to help soothing your muscle aches. We also adapt some ecological concepts, like using the cell solar for the water heater in the room and the lights, reusing the wastewater for our garden where we take care of the trees and various beautiful flowers, and we also have 40 bio spot pores on this 7,600m2 area. We look forward to warmly welcoming you and make you feel at ease, like the feeling of home.
Nice little haven of peace in the middle of a luxuriant garden. The rooms are comfortable and the small balcony offers a magnificent view on the vegetation. We received a warm welcome from the hosts. I highly recommend
