Super friendly and great value

We stayed at the Sport Hotel which is just behind the boutique part of the hotel and offers basic but comfortable budget accommodation. The hotel management couldn’t have been more welcoming or helpful during our short stay and without being asked made us boccadillos for our day’s walking. The breakfast is well worth having for EUR 12.

Mas El Mir

Mas El Mir is an old farmhouse with historical records dating back to 1366. Located in the heart of nature, but only 4 km from Ripoll, the nearest town. Its stone structure and its dimensions convey a great sensation of authenticity, peace and well-being upon entering. When you arrive at Mas El Mir you can feel its authentic character, its history and the warmth of its welcoming environments.. The house has large common spaces. You can enjoy listening to vinyl in the living room, relax in front of the fireplace, admire the views, or have breakfast in the dining room next to an old well. We also have an independent TV room, and the old kitchen of the house where you can taste our snacks, liquors and vermouths.

Characterful high class farm stay, high in the hills

Reviewed By BrotherLawrence

This is not an easy one to place. Top-end mainly and with more than a hint of “wow”, but with some edges that are not smooth (and some may say, that it is better for that). Maybe fits into the shabby-chic bracker. 5 minutes up a winding, and at times steep, single tracked road, is this large converted stone farmhouse, where you will be greeted by Eva – the charming, helpful, owner manager – if you can find the entrance. You may also get barked at by Trinny who in fact is a warm and friendly dog. The location is green, rural, tranquil. The house has just five rooms and a small semi-detached guest house, and most of the time there are no staff present – there is an honesty bar and most other things you need to look after yourself, though Eva lives in part of the house and is available if needed., though occasionally hard to track down Care and attention has been paid to the tasteful and calm décor, everything is unique, vintage and antique (from furniture through to taps, with wide aged floorboards and beams), though with modern standards so that all works well and there is high quality fresh linen and towels. There are no TVs or radios in the rooms (though there is a TV room with large flat screen TV and DVDs). The pool is pretty, in a spectacular spot, but a bit too short for length swimming. I would strongly recommend dining here more than once. The cuisine is special. There is no choice of menu (though Eva will cater to food preferences). We had four course meals on three nights – each different, beautifully prepared, in local style but with innovation. The breakfasts buffets had a wide healthy and local selection. There are too many unique things about this place to do it justice - go and enjoy the pleasant surprises, but possibly not one for those with OCD!

Fantastico!

Nice but a hassle

Reviewed By jonnycon

Stayed here while motorcycling across the Pyrenees. To be fair, this wasn’t the right accommodation for our needs however worth noting a few things. Firstly, the rooms are in an apartment block in the centre of the town and the office and parking are roughly 1km away. This is not ideal when you’re carrying heavy cases to your room from the car park and we were told there was no option to set down temporarily near the apartment to offload luggage. Would even be a bit of hassle with a wheelie suitcase. In the building is the smallest lift which is also a pain when you have a lot of luggage. The room itself is nice in its decor and looks out onto the main square. If you’re a light sleeper, then ear plugs are recommended as it’s noisy. Breakfast is akin to what your estranged father would provide you if your mother dropped you at his for the weekend - the less said about it, the better. This was also the most expensive accommodation of our trip however if you’re looking for somewhere in the heart of Ripoll to enjoy the bars and restaurants and travelling light then this would work well.

I stayed as part of a group of 29 cyclists going through the Pyrenees. Maria on reception spoke excellent English and was fantastic. She had all our rooms ready early and had arranged a secure garage to store our bikes in overtime. Nothing was too much trouble for her. The evening meal was plentiful and ticked all the boxes for a hungry cyclist. The following morning breakfast was also brilliant. Thank you Maria you made our stay a great experience

I’m having a (personal) bad time. The world is having a (health and economy) bad time. And Hotels are having a difficult time trying to work while saving the most they can the quality of service and the health of their customers and personnel. This year I made the brilliant decision to come and spend some days in this place. A lot of rest is what I needed. I also deserved a kind and cozy dedication, my life is very much broken after important losses which are difficult to overcome. And good food which is one of my regular conditions to feel well in a place. Solana de Ter has been balsamic, helpful and near to perfection, both in the material side of an excellent Hotel Service and in the spiritual of helping you to feel really well. Located in one of the most beautiful AND demanded places of my Catalonia, one hour from Barcelona and a little more tan half hour from the French and the Andorran border, the hotel itself offers you excellent climate, very personal treatment, swimming pool, and other delicious holyday virtues you should come and prove by yourself.

Night Year's Eve

I spend two nights at the hostal del Ripolles this last Year's Eve and it was a fantastic stay. The dinner in particular was incredibly tasty and well presented. I did enjoyed all courses from the menu. The waiters service was flawless even though they were quite busy, but our waiter was excellent and always smiley. We even had party after twelve and dancing with all guests. It was a memorable night. I will strongly recommend this hostel to any relatives or friends.

Low cost hotel

Reviewed By RS012

A typical low cost old hotel, small rooms on 2nd and 3rd floor, narrow stairs, no elevator. The house and rooms looks old but are clean. Parking outside may be an issue on some days. Good for overnight stay, nothing more.
