Bad Customer Service

My family was locked in 2 of the rooms for over 45 minutes, the staff had to get a crow bar to get them out, in one of the rooms the toilet backed up once any one took a shower , old sewage came up. I booked a total of 4 rooms. I asked for a reduction on the price of the room my family was locked in and was told no, because the rest of my group ( family)gave a poor review to the hotel and since I'm with that group Mr. Prince ( The Manager) stated he would not help me.

I stayed here for just one night on a work trip in May 2022. The hotel looked and seemed either very new or very well maintained. The room was well appointed and I liked the large sofa and the walk-in shower. The lobby had nice areas for seating so you could meet for conversations or hang out. Valet parking was a bit slow, but overall a nice stay.

A lovely historic hotel with ties to Edgar Allen Poe

Reviewed By SallyTravelBee

Lovely historic hotel! Well kept ! Close to many things downtown. We used the free street parking. The wine and pimento cheese at the hotel restaurant were great. Lovely staff at the front desk at both the morning and evening. Very clean hotel. We were two moms and our teen age daughters in town for a concert. There is some Edgar Allen Poe history tied to the hotel. He played on the grounds as a child. I added a photo of the parlor near the check in desk.

BED BUGS in room 101

Reviewed By nataliebI28MO

I stayed at the Hampton Inn in room 101 hotel May 7-May 9 for my daughters graduation. My second night I was awoken by something on my neck, I swiped it and a big landed on my face. I jumped up and turned on the light to discover two bed bugs on my pillow. I was able to grab one with a tissue and killed it. There was blood all over the pillow case. See photos. I quickly took a shower and threw my things into my suitcase to get out of the room and go to the lobby. The woman at the lobby at 5:30am didn’t really care or believe me until I showed her the bites on my neck and the dead bug in the tissue. Then said that gross and I asked her for help. She said she didn’t know what to do and called the manager who didn’t answer. I then asked for trash bags and bug spray so I wouldn’t bring the bed bugs home. She brought me trash bags to put all my clothes and said they gave no bug spray. I would not stay here they cleaned my room and gave not done anything to deal with the problem!More

Daughter surprised us with a reservation here. Every detail from parking, to check in, to the room was the best we have ever experienced. The room was the largest we have ever stayed in, was clean and spotless. We enjoyed a drink in the lobby late in the evening, it was like living in the glory days of the 20s. Service, room, cleanliness, everything was perfect. This is the right place for a special occasion.
