Hotel rich in traditions, beautifully located in the center of Oppdal by highway E6 and only 30 meters from Oppdal railway station. The hotel have 75 rooms/160 beds including 20 junior suites with 4-poster romantic beds and 3 handicap rooms. All rooms are non smoking. Free wireless internet and cable tv in all rooms. Large and small convention rooms for groups up to 250 persons
Even though I live in Sweden I never really had the opportunity to visit Norway (except for Oslo) With work I've now traveled to Oppdal twice and both times I've been living at this hotel. The staff is super friendly and the rooms are cosy but not so modern. However you really get that alpin feeling that one craves in this area. If you have the opportunity to eat here, I highly recommend the vegetarian tofu noodle dish. Seriously delicious! See you soon again! ?

Campsite located close to the main road north-south in Norway (E6). Oppdal is a valley between the nationalparks Dovrefjell and Trollheimen. Natural base for all kind of activities in the mountains, spectacular rafting in the river Driva, musk-ox safari ++++ We offer different types of cottages and small apartments. Pitches for tents, campers andcaravans.
Nice new and clean cabin. Fully equipped kitchen, internet and TV. Friendly and helpful staff. Good play area for the kids. Close to Oppdal and the main road, but did not notice road noise. Nice outside area to sit in the Summer.

Oppdal Gjestetun is totally renovated February-July 2017. New owners upgrades to hotel-standard. Oppdal Gjestetun has nice mini apartments that offer you several possibilities. 2-6 bedded mini apartments, self catering, fully equipped kitchenette, private bathroom, cable TV, free wireless internet, balcony or exit directly to the garden/lawn and nice view to the Oppdal Mountains. TV lounge in the reception. Sauna. Situated right in the center of the town. An Asian cuisine restaurant is adjacent to the reception with Chinese, Thai and Japanese dishes.
We stayed at this hotel for just one night. It is right opposite the bigger and nicer looking Hotel Skifer and from the outside we were thinking, Yikes, we picked the wrong hotel. But the room was quite big and completely updated, very stylish modern interior. We were in a room right by the road, but it was pretty quiet. The blackout shades didn't block out the midnight sun completely ( we found, none of them do!), but we slept well. There was no hair dryer in the room but we got one at the front desk. Breakfast was quite nice for a small hotel- we only say maybe three other tables there. Still there was a nice spread. Both room and dining area were very clean and nice. Front desk person was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay there again, but try to get a room off the road!

Oppdal is a small town, 545m above sea level, between the national parks and peaks of Dovrefjell and Trollheimen. Our hotel is located in Oppdal, mid-Norway, approximately 420 km. north of our capitol Oslo, and 120 km. south of Trondheim. To get here you easily follow the E6 from those locations. If you have tours at the west coast, Molde, Kristiansund, Ålesund, Atlanderhavsveien - you easily follow RV70 to Oppdal from those locations. The hotel Skifer Hotel opened its doors in October 2010 and has 176 comfortable rooms. All rooms have views of the mountains that surround the village. Inside the hotel, we have created a warm atmosphere with the use local slate, oak and furniture in woollen fabrics. In our lobby you can enjoy in front of the fireplace in soft lounges. There is also a reception, lobby bar and restaurant. Welcome!

Kongsvold is a historical hotel with traditions from year 1100. Described in Rough guide as "one of the most charming places to stay in the whole of Norway" A reknown restaurant serves lunch and applecake from 12 to 16 and dinner every night at 19 o clock. Friendly atmosphere in the Dovrefjell mountains, easy to find along E6 and has also its own railway station.
Great hotel from where a great musk ox safari departs. Wonderful breakfast buffet of great quality and variety, kind and passionate staff. Many living rooms where it feels like seating with a book, admiring the surrounding craft-works and artworks. Beautiful natural setting.

Smegarden Camping is located in the community Oppdal, 128 km south of Trondheim in Norway by E6. The camping site is surrounded by mountains, by a forest and, a river called Vinstra, a side river to the salmon fishing river, Driva. Here you may walk by the river, fish for free and you may light a fire by our special building called gapahuk. The camping site can offer : - Cabins with 2, 4 and 6 (2 bedrooms) beds equiped with cooking plate, fridge and cable-tv. - Paved roads, good sanitary facilities, kitchen, wash room, solarium, TV-room and a kiosk. - Caravanparking for all-year camping. - Cable-TV for connection to cabins or caravans. - Free wireless internet access. - Nice playground with slides, a sandbox and a trampoline. - In the reception we will assist you in getting the information you want about activities and adventures in Oppdal and the nearby regions and towns.
We only stayed one night this time, but would very much like to come back some time. The service faxilities are nice and clean and well maintained. The site is close to the road, but still quite peaceful.

Had to make an unplanned overnight stay in Oppdal and just wanted an inexpensive place to crash, no frills. I had never stayed in a "hytte" before and, man, for this niche class of inns (not a hotel mind you) it was very nearly perfect. Perfect for our needs. Clean, comfortable, and best of all CONVENIENT. The little cabin was tight, but tidy. It had bunkbeds, a TV, a bathroom with a shower, a kitchen with a refrigerator, sink and stove, and a central table around which to gather. The room was amply warm (when chilly outside) and had an outdoor table for picnics in sunnier weather. The location was perfect! It is about a city block from the central mall of Oppdal, the gas station, the restaurant/retail promenade, the rail station, and several grocery stores. We even took a nice stroll out to the local historic museum park. The winter resort town of Oppdal has many more accommodations of various types (hotels, bed and breakfasts, camping places), but for the money, we could not have asked for a more comfortable nights stay. Just be aware that linens are not included (we used sleeping bags), a self clean up is expected before checkout, the property is dog friendly, no smoking, and bunkbeds may not be that comfortable for some adults. I was on a guttatur with my mates, but I plan to return someday with my family. Highly recommended.

BORTISTU – A MOUNTAIN FARM In 2016, 4th generation of the Storli family took over the ownership and management of Bortistu. Linda Mai and Rune and their four children now manage the farm. The children are picked up by a school bus and attend school at Midtbygda and in Oppdal. Because the farm is rather small, there have always been an additional variety of activities such as hunting and tourism. In the 1880s, the first guests came to farms, and Bortistu was chosen as quarters when The Norwegian Trekking Association, Trondheim, was founded. Kristoffer Haugen from Bortistu participated in marking the paths. He was one of the country's last professional hunters and spent a lot of time in the mountains, and had a good additional income through hunting and fishing. Today's Bortistu is a mountain farm under cultural protection, a farm operation without livestock, focusing on tourism. Bortistu now appears as a venerable guesthouse.
The veranda view of the majestic mountains of Trollheimen was spectacular The small cabins were well equipped and the beds gave us a good nights rest. The toilet and shower is only steps away in the next building. The Sauna is included in the room price. The sauna smoked lamb, creme brûlée and the Norwegian Brownie with the soft middle were fantastic. Our breakfast rolls were heavenly and the chicken eggs from American Chickens very good. They were a sight to watch. We are glad we made this trip to such a beautiful place with history dating back to 1648.

Our rooms have not been cleaned, the towels not changed every day. We didn’t have any clean towels for the next morning. Nobody could be reached to arrange the problem. The owner was not here, neither in the late afternoon and not in the evening Frans, Myriam, Mie, Guy
