This hotel has a huge garden with swimming pool right in the middle of the historic centre of Olinda. Rooms probably need refurbishment, but the price-quality is excellent. We enjoyed the safety feeling, the fact we could park our car inside the compound, the gentleness of the staff, the swimmling pool and the amazing garden. The restaurant offer is quite basic traditional food, but there are so many options at walking distance that this is less important (we recommend Beijupira). Will definitlely come back if we go again to Olinda. Breakfast is up to standard for the price paid.

Pousada do Amparo is considerate the best charming hotel of the metropolitan region of recife - Pernambuco
Hats off to Jacqueline, Carlos and Victor. They went out of their way to help me, especially through the complex process of buying a phone chip in Brazil. They were wonderful in every respect and will make your stay in Olinda a pleasure. I had a room in the annex across the street and it was quite spacious with a four-poster bed and an outdoor bathtub (the view from the street is blocked so don't feel shy about using it.) The breakfast was bountiful. Fruit, cheeses, meats, cakes and bread plus coffee and juice. It will keep you full till dinner time. Dinner at the restaurant was also delicious and reasonably priced. Once more all my thanks to Jacqueline, Carlos and Victor my first friends in Brazil.

The old restored mansion creates a lovely impression as you arrive with the mature garden inside the walls, the welcoming reception area, the breakfast areas inside and out, and interesting art & curios everywhere. Erika had arranged for us to park our rental car in the garage next door for which we were grateful. It is in the artistic neighbourhood with cafes and live music. We enjoyed the breakfast in the morning. It seems that since the 2019 reviews things are not working as smoothly anymore. We had booked a Deluxe Double room, and confirmed it, but we clearly didn't receive one (room 117). Room 117 is not at all like the rooms in their photos of Deluxe Double rooms. The room felt as though it might have been the servant’s quarters in ages past. Our room was an awkward, narrow, cramped room with a queen bed and a twin bed squeezed in to create a family room. The Balcony was narrow and tiny with half of it an alcove housing the A/C compressor for what seemed to be several rooms. The compressor was exactly 6 feet from my pillow with the sound buffered only by a single sheet of window glass. I know it sounds unbelievable so I will attach a photo of it. The air conditioner was mounted directly above our bed and blew noisy cold air on us. We couldn’t turn it off as it was a hot and humid night and very stuffy in the room. The bed only had a single top sheet with no blanket to help brace us against the cold. Between the noise and the cold we finally gave up on sleep and decided to get an early start on our driving day. We decided to pack before breakfast, and that’s when we found out that the shower only ran cold water at 7 a.m. I have since found the photo of our room on their website and it is billed as a room for 3 people. I was very disappointed as I’d had email exchanges in advance to ensure our room was what I’d booked. After my confirmation of a Deluxe Double room from booking.com I received an email from the Pousada saying my “economic room” was reserved. I immediately emailed them to ensure that the room would be Deluxe Double inside the main house as we’d reserved. The response, "they’d made an error, our room would be the Deluxe Double". It was not. That would have been the time to tell me honestly that they couldn’t accommodate us as reserved and I could have easily found something more suitable elsewhere. Our bookings almost never have a problem but I guess you can’t win every time.

The location is very close to the sea and the little ancient guard post with cannons which is just in front the of the sea and which by the way offers a lovely view. The property is really lovely and the internal part, where the swimming pool is, reveals a mesh between nature and "humans" which I truly enjoyed, especially while having breakfast on the terrace right next to the swimming pool (which is small but very nice). Said that the harsh part. The site is literally infested by mosquitoes! I've never seen that many into an hotel and especially into a room, mine for instance (but they're most likely all alike). The first night I've killed +25 of them within +4hrs and I couldn't sleep at all, it was a real nightmare! In the morning I've realised why! The little mosquito-net (picture blurred but understandable) in the bathroom was no longer attached properly and, even worse, the window in the room had two huge gaps ... BY DESIGN! As you can see in the pictures, on top and bottom part of the windows junction there are two holes the size of a thumb from which mosquitoes get in and out with no problems whatsoever and that was a frustrating discovery. So killing mosquitoes is not an option. I bought a repellent spray and with that the situation changed completely. Still it is unacceptable that in such a place with so many mosquitoes measures to protect the guests haven't been taken AT ALL. Apart from this relevant (IMO) fact the property by itself is lovely but certainly needs more maintenance and care in any sense (ugly fixes, old and noisy AC, showers with auto temp water which may not be warm really and not the most comfortable beds). The personnel were nice and helpful, the breakfast good and with a reasonable selection and the food for dinner was very good. WIFI works but signal on some rooms is almost non existent, gotta go downstairs in the hall to use it. So, in conclusion, it's a place that with some investment can improve the experience significantly thanks to the position and a unique location. But at present time it's overpriced. If you want comfort and/or you've kids with you and don't want to spray them all every hour with repellent, spend some money more and go somewhere else.

Even with decades of staying in out of the way pousadas and hotels on a Brazilian model this one rates among the lesser and for no good reason. I've stayed at ocean front Olinda hotels for decades and some had more "character" than amenities but made up for that lack in the character, space and good service. This one may impress someone from the interior, apparently the main clientele, but lacks some things I've found even in interior cities. Tiny rooms. Service from mostly good to a few rude ones. Room refrigerators but no glasses or even water to purchase in the hotel (if you have your own container they will fill it). Advertise parking, but not enough for more than about ten vehicles in the secure lot; all others risk the street. Rooms all face onto an echo chamber of an interior court. Plus side: breakfast and very light evening food included (evening soup, fruit and bread); some nice Nordestino art and motif for inside court (a bit of Sertão by small pool). Bottom line: Simple, but too simple in odd ways such as lack of basics (no glasses, water, beverages a good example) that fail unrelieved by real character or charm.

We were given a room with a window to the kitchen, which it had to be closed most of the time. The room was damp, smelling and noisy in the morning. We ask to change and our request receives no follow up. There is no reception so it is very diffucult to get information about things to visit, transfers.. In the end, we even had to ask to another hotel for information about buses to the next city of our trip... it leaves us speechless

Hotel Costeiro is a three star hotel that has the quality of its service as its main goal. It is located in the seaside of Olinda, a World Heritage City, with easy access to other beaches, such as Porto de Galinhas and Maria Farinha. Close to it there are excellent restaurants, banks, drugstores and shopping areas. The Convention Center of Pernambuco, the Chevrolet Hall and Tacaruna Shopping Center are only 4 km away. There are 5 different categories of apartments at Costeiro: Super Luxo, Luxo, Superior Super, Superior and Lanal, going from 17,52 square meters up to 34,7 square meters, all equipped with electronic lockers, private toillets, minibar, safety box, hair dryer, shower heated by solar energy and free wi-fi. The prices of the rooms depend on their size and location. The Costeiro restaurant offers very good dishes, both internatioinal and regional, besides seafood, while you enjoy the ocean view.
Hotel adm didn’t mention that pets are allowed. And they do not reserve rooms for those who bring pets. I respect the hotel adm option but I’m not returning to this hotel, for pure sanitary issues. Guests should be made aware of the hotel option prior to reservation.

Stayed for one night while passing through from Salvador to Pipa. Pretty much no one else was staying other than me and my friend, but our experience there was still incredible! Ricardo and Sandro were so helpful trying to sort out buses for us the next day and went out of their way to call the bus companies and tell our taxi drivers exactly where we needed to go. The breakfast was amazing! Definitely one of the best I’ve had in Brazil! Could not recommend this place enough! The rooms were also great and everything was super clean. The pool area was also beautiful and a great place to have a couple drinks at the end of the night.
