The park, facilities and the staff were wonderful. Close to town with a lovely walk, aviaries and a wonderful playground for the kids. In the summer time or warmer season I can only imagine it would be very pleasant. We stayed in winter and it was freezing cold. The Chalet we stayed in was cold in winter, so would not recommend this unit.

There’s a full kitchen in you want to cook (cooktop elements & microwave, crockery, fridge etc.), or it’s an easy walk to the town restaurants and several takeaway options nearby. We had a one bedroom unit so had plenty of space. After eating out we made use of Sky movies to watch a film. We slept well and all facilities were fine. Dedicated parking and given the motel is at the rear of the property you don't get traffic noise

TripAdvisor fix your app!!! This review is from 2019 … In Oamaru for a few days with the family, our first time staying at the Brydone. The hotel is nicely located on the Main Street in Oamaru short walk from the Victorian Precinct & shops. The room we had suited our needs well, 2 adults & 2 young children... beds were comfortable, room was clean & bathroom was new. The restaurant within the hotel has an open fire, which in winter is very welcome. The food prices range from $28-38 for mains. Food is presented well and cooked nicely. Staff are friendly and welcoming. Now for the suggestions that need to be looked at; - the TV in room is dated, there were only 5 channels available & no USB ports. When travelling with young children (and being winter night) having SKY TV channels and USB ports available allow for children to be entertained when in room. I would suggest updating room TV’s at a minimum and adding SKY channels. - We ate at the in house restaurant, twice. The children ordered same meals both times and the second time left them virtually untouched. When we questioned why meals were different we were informed a different chef was working. Regardless, there needs to be some consistency with meals no matter who is cooking. Real battered fish is not frozen fish cocktails. Overall, we would stay here again...

We loved everything about this B&B. The hosts were really great and provided helpful advice on local sightseeing. They also thought of the small thoughtful matters like warming our room while we were out on a cold evening and providing tea and cookies on arrival. Breakfast was extensive and very tasty. The room was large with an ensuite and large wardrobe.

Highly recommend this motel. Beautifully presented and friendly staff. Close to all you need to see in Oamaru. Stopped here and on our return trip to Dunedin. You should take the time to visit Frasers 4 Square store just up the road towards Christchurch. A real treat to see a fabulous shop well stocked with an extremely pleasant couple who own and have run this for 43 years. Check it out.

Staff are friendly and nice, and check was easy. Was so unimpressed that they put me next to a covid positive patient that was isolating when they had other rooms available. The walls were paper thin so everything he coughed, I felt like I was getting coughed on. The beds were so hard to the point they were almost painful and I considered sleeping on my yoga Matt on the floor. Notice in shower saying if steam from shower triggered fire alarm you would be charged $250, yet they had no extractor van. Continental breakfast they served in the restaurant was actually embarrassing. Warm yogurt, dry toast or rice bubbles/ cornflakes that looked like they had been there years. Just a terrible experience.

Colonial Lodge ticked all the boxes—very clean, comfortable bed, big shower with excellent water pressure. But what really sold me was how quiet my unit at the back was. I didn't even need ear plugs and had a great nights sleep.
