Yanggakdo Hotel is an excellent choice for travelers visiting Pyongyang, offering a quiet environment alongside many helpful amenities designed to enhance your stay. The hotel offers a concierge, to make your visit even more pleasant. The property also features a pool and free breakfast. Guests arriving by vehicle have access to free parking. While staying at Yanggakdo Hotel, visitors can check out Kim Il-sung Square (1.4 mi) and Tower of the Juche Idea (1.5 mi), some of Pyongyang's top attractions. If you like Korean restaurants, Yanggakdo Hotel is conveniently located near Rakwon, The Diplomatic Restaurant - "The New Diplo", and Grand Theatre Restaurant. Best of all, Yanggakdo Hotel makes it easy to experience some great Pyongyang attractions like Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum, which is a popular military museum. Enjoy your stay in Pyongyang!
So you have no choice about staying at this hotel but its actually not that bad. You get amazing views over the Taedong River in the morning (frankly the guides work you so hard you don't actually see the hotel in the daylight!). The rooms are clean, reasonably comfortable (you are so exhausted by the day that any bed is comfy). The water pressure is amazing. The best showers ever. Breakfast is a bit hit and miss. Given that North Korea puts on an amazing show of food for lunches and dinners, the breakfast is hard to navigate. Trying to get a lift at peak times is also a tad trying

Stayed for 3 nights as part of group tour. Hotel is centrally located. Near train station. Twin towers. Room is old but comfortable and clean. Bed is a little hard but still ok for me. View of Juche Tower from my room. TV has Chinese Channels, Al Jazeera which were great. Bathroom simple. Small bath towel. Hotel has a revolving restaurant but can’t see much as windows are not clean and the city at night is not brightly lit up either. Food is average. Breakfast served on a restaurant on third floor. Not much selection. Ask if coffee is included for your room first. For our group, only first cup is included (free). Gift shop at corner of lobby. Can pay in RMB, US$ or Euro. Sells basic necessities, dry food as well as some simple souvenirs (eg fridge magnet). Prices comparable to souvenir shops in the places we visited. Book/CD shop on second floor. There is a Swimming pool and karaoke at the basement but I didn’t check them out. Itinerary is quite packed and we didn’t have time (or energy). When arriving, suggest you carry your own luggage to the room. Otherwise you may have to wait a long time as the staff goes room by room to deliver your bags (and they expect tip).

Sosan hotel has great location, surrounded by forest, 20 min drive from Pyongyang’s downtown. Rooms are comfy, bed is fine . Bar serving great cafe latte . Breakfast should be improved a bit , but yeah, good place to stay .

Was a really nice hotel, staff were very well behaved, some sweat under threat of execution. Food was a little dry, but hard to complain when they hardly have food or drinking water in this whole country. Was a really nice hotel with great architecture, just was a very big lack of parking! 400 guests and only 6 parking spaces. Tsk tsk, North Korea!

The ski lifts have trash all over them, the heating inside isn’t on, and the food tastes like literal garbage. Please, I urge you. Do not go here! It is not worth your time or money. There are plenty of better ski resorts outside of North Korea.

Being in Pyongyang surrounded by the trees, having the change for few steps in the outdoors to relax and when you need in a few minte ride by car you can be at the centre of the city. It's my favourite hotel.

ALL OUR ACCOMMODATION IN NORTH KOREA WAS 4+ star. One had underfloor heating in the bathroom - another had a swimming pool. All were spotlessly clean. The buildings were architecturally impressive and mainly marble. Breakfast was good. Many impressive statues and posters around the spotlessly clean city. The food was excellent and plentiful and the city workers smartly dressed. Lovely gardens and we only saw one fly! Our tour was full on and we loved every minute. We took train journeys out to the agricultural areas. No mechanical equipment - all hard physical work. Huge museums etc. We watched an excellent acrobatic show and a wonderful music, dancing, etc show in the 150,000 venue. Magic!

My room had a view of the sea, walkway to the fishing boats and the lighthouse -- marvellous sunrise. A little loud at dawn when fishers were heading to their boats. Windows in room were taped shut. Bed was very firm. No elevator in this hotel. My room was on 4th floor. Staff assisted to bring my luggage to/from my room. Small shop with sundries and alcohol. Evening meal included fresh seafood - delicious scallops in the shell that required some cleaning before consuming. Friendly staff and good location.

From Pyongyang it's a 3 hour drive, but worth thr trip. Great quaint resort with chalit type accommodation. Our guides and driver sheared in their own rooms with on suit. Great location and lovely beach. We had a large apartment with living room, bedroom and full size bathroom. Tea and coffee making and flat screen TV. The main hotel has dining rooms, shops and bar. We are there for our breakfast and evening meals. Was a great stop off before exploring the rest of our trip.
