18Th Century manor House set in 500 acres of Berkshire's finest countryside. Offering rooms in the Manor House, Sunmer House and lodges. 18 Hole championship golf course, Clay shooting and Fly fishing by appointment.
I stayed here for three nights DBB in the Manor Suite, along with my Mum. The room overlooked the driving-range and lake, and it was lovely albeit a bit dated and in need of fresh paint work, but the bath was lovely and deep and the shower was powerful and the beds are very comfortable. Having the dining table was a bonus and made games of Scrabble and cards easier on the wet day we had. The staff were friendly and accommodating and the food was piping hot and delicious, the set menu was limited but everything was very tasty and we weren't disappointed. Breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice and again hot and delicious. Altogether we had a lovely stay.

Surrounded by glorious hills and stunning parkland, Donnington Valley Hotel and Spa is a natural blend of charm and elegance with uncompromising quality and countryside views. Home to 111 bedrooms, Donnington Valley is a privately owned 4-star country hotel in the heart of Berkshire with a state of the art spa and 18 hole golf course.
We chose to hold corporate event over 3 days at Donnington, spending several thousand pounds, and they rudely insisted on charging us GBP25 check out penalty as for one of our party check out 45 minutes after the 11am deadline. Last time we go back there

With a shopping centre right next door, and Newbury Station just a short walk away, you'll love the central location of our Premier Inn Newbury Town Centre (London Road). Fans of Downton Abbey won't want to miss a visit to Highclere Castle, the show's primary filming location. The ruins of Donnington Castle are close by, too, if you fancy exploring a little more of Berkshire's history. Nature-lovers and families alike will enjoy a trip to the Living Rainforest - it's only a short drive away, and bursting with exotic plants and animals. Alternatively, you could tee-off at the nearby Newbury & Crookham Golf Club, before finishing the day with a tasty meal at our in-house Thyme restaurant.
After a long journey from Hong Kong via Dubai and a nice drive from Heathrow, our lovely stay at the Premier Inn Newbury started late on a Saturday afternoon with a very warm welcome from GEORGIA on the front desk. She handled a very smooth check in for two weary travellers, and gave us a very nice room with lots of space for our luggage – four large suitcases. The next few days proved to be very pleasant, with all the staff being courteous and friendly – and customer service focused. We definitely enjoyed the full breakfast buffet (thanks to chef VINAYA) and were well looked after by KAREN in the breakfast room. The hospitality and service was great - can’t recall everyone’s name, but thanks to SHANNON, DUDA and all other staff; And a special thanks to hotel manager MARSHA who was most helpful. We enjoyed our stay so much, that we extended by an extra day – and have since booked another two visits to the Premier Inn Newbury there later this month. Looking forward to visiting again...

The Vineyard has been described as a temple to Californian wine. Just outside Newbury, about an hour from London, it certainly lives up to its reputation, and more. The cellar holds over 30,000 wines from the new and old worlds, as well as the award-winning estate wines of owner Sir Peter Michael. It is also celebrated for its contemporary cooking. Spacious contemporary suites, traditional bedrooms, an award winning spa and a private art collection to die for, make it the ideal venue for special events, weddings, and a delightful retreat for gourmands and the curious alike.
Staying here was such a treat. The food produced by the kitchen is absolutely incredible, every dish on the al la carte menu is paired with a different wine from the extensive wine list, the celler capacity of 30,000 bottles is impressive. Staff were attentative, knowlegable about the wines, the area and the hotel. The hotel boasts of art work and sculptures, while the sounds of jazz plays throughout the bar and restaurant. We were surprised by the spa a nice added feature. The room was beautiful, clean with no expense spared in their decor. Great for a couples getaway.
