Only issues: there was a weird smell in the room when we checked in...not sure if it went away or we just got used to it; the blinds on the the window were crooked so the light from the lamp post outside shined in at night; there is no ice machine on the first floor. Comfortable stay for one night, clean and well-appointed. I definitely would recommend this hotel, especially due to easy access to the interstate. Because we were on the first floor we were able to park near one of the key-entry exterior doors so that was cool.

Reviewed By RussoKaWe stayed at this hotel based on reviews and because of its proximity to UD for graduation weekend. Hotel rates were increased everywhere, so we felt the value wasn't worth it. The location of the hotel is convenient--right off 95 and a few miles to campus. The hotel was clean and fairly comfortable. The rooms were tiny and had a musty feel. The bathrooms were clean, but small. The temperature control wasn't always working well. The breakfast could have used more healthy options, such as Greek yogurt and more seasonal fresh fruit. The breakfast area was clean. The "fitness center" was a complete joke. The hotel shouldn't advertise it as an amenity. One treadmill, one non-functioning elliptical, and one broken down and dangerous universal do not constitute a fitness center. It is a liability. We've traveled to many hotels that have much better and well-maintained facilities. This hotel is adequate for a one-night stay

Reviewed By Beapath234This was our second stay. In a word 'wonderful'. Staff, rooms, and restaurant. It is on our favorites list. Everyone is professional and pleasant. Clean and comfortable rooms. Hotel is beautiful and well kept. Restaurant has a nice menu. We've had burgers, entrees, and salads all delicious. Example: you don't get those white ends in your Caesar salad just nice pieces of romaine.

Reviewed By johnball13Univ of Delaware graduation weekend is hectic and a challenge for hotels. But this Embassy Suites went above and beyond the expectations. The staff was immensely helpful and were actively engaged in a "celebration" atmosphere. They had complimentary waters set out and provided for grab-and-go, the breakfasts and receptions were fantastic, and they brought in live music entertainment. I normally stay at Hilton properties, but the staff at this location really made a mark on me. The front desk, hospitality, and housekeeping teams were all on point. Very impressed with the team, and I would give them a 6th star if it was an option!!

Mark, who ran the breakfast the morning we were there, was not only exceptionally personable, but his cheerfulness started my day off so nicely. He maintained the food service area very well and kept it neat, well stocked and clean. He should be in customer service because he was the best. Promote this man!

Horrible! Do Not Stay Here!

Now this hotel is a Sonesta Select and it is complete garbage! This hotel is absolutely disgusting. This hotel has friendly front desk staff but that is the only decent thing it has. This hotel is very dirty and not clean. They also don’t provide any amenities. Indoor Pool is closed. Laundry machines are out of service. No hand sanitizer in the dispensers either. The elevator smelled horrible. It has to be the oldest elevator in Delaware because it runs horrible and it’s scary to ride. We were in Room 423 and it was absolutely disgusting and smelled horrible. Had to leave immediately. The next room we were given was Room 306 and that room was better than the first one but still dirty and disgusting. This hotel doesn’t even have shampoo, conditioner or body lotion. Front desk said they don’t supply it. They don’t supply anything. This hotel has to be the absolute worst hotel I have ever stayed in and I will never stay here again! If someone told me they would give me a free night to stay here, I still wouldn’t stay here! Sleep in your car! It’s probably cleaner than one of the rooms in this hotel. This hotel was great when it was a Marriott owned property. This was my first time at this hotel as a Sonesta and it will also be my last time too!

Great Stay
Reviewed By MshchrisI chose this hotel specifically for the jaccuzi in the bathroom. The hotel is clean and updated. Pretty much what you would expect from a Marriot hotel. Everything that you would need is close by. The staff was more than helpful. Once all the dollies we're gone, staff offered to help bring our bags down. I thought that was a nice gesture. I would definitely stay there again.

Reviewed By 430janjI like staying in Marriott hotels because they are usually clean and they pay attention to details. The cost of the room is higher, but I found that it was worth it. I stayed at this Marriott two years ago and had an exceptional experience as I expected. This trip was disappointing. The front desk and cleaning employees were wonderful and pleasant. They were warm and welcoming. The management could use some pointers about the hospitality industry. Details were missing like the previous guest left a dirty coffee cup on the table in my room making me think what else wasn’t clean. There were a few details that set the Marriott apart from the other hotel chains and it was lacking this visit. The cold bottle of water upon arrival used to be a nice touch after traveling all day. It cost the hotel less than $1, but it is a nice detail to let a guest know they aren’t checking into a low budget hotel. I had to sign a form that basically said I wasn’t going to trash the place. They charged me $75 at the onset for my registered service animal for the night. I understand they may have guests that come there and destroy the place. I have stayed there before and they had no trouble with me. I would have liked to be given that courtesy. Like I said, the employees were welcoming. The details were not there this time for the money.
