Swab the decks, batten down the hatches and get ready to set sail for a weekend of adventure in Mystic, Connecticut's seaside city devoted to all things maritime. From the popular Mystic Seaport, a recreated 19th-century seafaring village, to the newly updated Mystic Aquarium, where you can mingle with beluga whales, seals and dolphins, there is something nautical at every turn. The Colonial period buildings of Olde Mystick Village offer a few tasty seafood restaurants, historical atmosphere and a multitude of unique gift shops. While most of Mystic's attractions have a marine theme, there are a couple of exceptions: landlubbers may want to check out the Mystic Art Association's galleries and studios, which showcase the work of local and regional artists. Or have a lunch at Mystic Pizza, the eatery made famous by the Julia Roberts movie of the same name. From restaurants with plenty of crayons and kid's menus to hotels with puppet shows and bedtime story hours, everything about Mystic is geared toward children, making it a fun and educational family getaway. And for adults, the nearby Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casino complexes are a sure bet for entertainment.

Noted for having the best location in Mystic, The Whaler's Inn is a charming boutique hotel situated in the heart of Downtown. The Bascule Bridge, specialty shops, historic homes, fine restaurants, and lively pubs are just steps away! In addition, the world famous Mystic Seaport Museum of America and the Sea as well as the Mystic Aquarium are just a short distance from the central location. Comprised of five buildings, the hotel offers newly renovated rooms over much of the complex, including deluxe accomodations in the Hoxie House featuring fireplaces, air-jet soaking tubs and views of the Mystic River - perfect for a romantic weekend away. The Inn also features family-friendly suites that offer bunkbeds for the kids as well as conference space for our business travelers. Centrally located 2-miles from I-95 and within walking distance of Amtrak, The Whaler's Inn is easily accessible from both Boston and New York City and is an ideal New England escape.
My wife and I had to leave our honeymoon early due to a family emergency, but despite their policies, the Whaler's Inn gave us our money back for the second night and was so kind and understanding about our situation. But aside from that, the Whaler's Inn has the perfect location for anyone visiting Mystic, down the block from the historic downtown, with beautiful, clean rooms (big deal for me!) as well as great service and friendly staff! 10/10 would stay here if you are thinking of going to Mystic.

Quick summary: Clean. Pretty good location. Great for traveling with dogs. Breakfast was as expected. Hotel itself is a little dated. Staff was helpful. Overall, would stay again. More detail: Although the hotel is a bit dated, the outside, lobby, and rooms are clean which is what really matters. Rooms don’t have digital key yet so you’ll have to stop by the front desk and use a key card to access your room and the building from any entrance but the front; I like the convenience of Hilton’s digital key but I honestly did not find the lack of it to be a big deal on this stay. There’s a pet area outside for dogs and I saw at least two others during our overnight stay. Breakfast is the standard Hampton Inn fare and there’s coffee available in the lobby all day but, if that’s not your thing, there’s a Dunkin Donuts right next door. You’ll have to drive to any of the touristy things like Olde Mystic Village, the Museum, the Aquarium, or downtown Mystic but the drive is quite short no matter where you’re headed. There’s a large parking lot by the museum (about 10 minutes by car from the hotel) where you can park for $10 a day and walk or take a shuttle into downtown. The one negative I have is that the pillows really lacked any support at all. I slept on two stacked on top of each other and felt like I had one kind of flat one under me. They probably need to be replaced at this point. That being said, by the time we came back into the room and were ready for bed, I was so tired that I passed right out but I figured this was worth noting for you sensitive sleepers out there. Neutral: the first floor rooms look right out into the parking lot so I would get a second or third floor room if I return.

Room not ready at check-in. Waited an hour in the lobby. The clerk forgot about us and disappeared. After an hour, went up to the desk and hit room from another front desk clerk. The bathroom was dirty, the refrigerator was dirty, the bathroom door didn’t lock. I was so glad I bought my cleaning supplies.

In the heart of Mystic, Connecticut, just one block from Interstate-95, the Hilton Mystic completed a multi-million dollar renovation in 2015. Conveniently located for both corporate and leisure visitors alike. You'll appreciate our convenient location as a coastal stopping point between New York City and Boston, filled with Historic charm of maritime New England. Across the street from the Olde Mistick Village and Mystic Aquarium and Institute for Exploration, the hotel is within walking distance of other popular local attractions, such as the Mystic Seaport Museum and Pequotsepos Nature Center. Whether your idea of relaxing is lying by the indoor heated pool, working out in our new Hilton PrecorA fitness center or listening to music in The IRONS Restaurant and Bar.
No where on their website does it state there will be no housekeeping. Upon arrival we were told that there was no housekeeping. Each day you place your towels and waste baskets in the hall. Then YOU GO to the front desk to get your towels and toiletries. So for the full price of your room you do your own cleaning, dispose of your own towels and gather your new towels. I did not pay full price for that kind of work. I could stay home for that. So rude tonite be told in advance. The site clearly states all of the other things unavailable but not this most important one. One dayi insisted on service , was told three times I would get it and I did not. I am so tired of these big corporations using Covid as an excuse. Totally unacceptable to blatantly deceive a customer.

Welcome to the Holiday Inn Express Mystic Hotel. Hotel features include complimentary continental breakfast and free local phone calls. Enjoy a unique breakfast experience at our new Express Start Breakfast Bar served every morning featuring a selection of fruits, juices, cereals, breads/pastries, and even hardboiled eggs. We have also created the world's best tasting cinnamon roll. Visit Mystic, CT and stay smart at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel.
I cannot fault the hotel because it was very clean and in a great location, but that was it. The front desk staff just didn’t seem excited to be at work or even care if I was there. Very inattentive and didn’t show much expression at all. Another thing that was very disappointing is there was a grab and go breakfast. In the bag they give you, is a yogurt, a granola bar, a juice box, and a Jimmy Dean frozen breakfast sandwich. Other hotels in the area and other Holiday Inn Express locations that I stayed at on this trip besides here, still offer a normal Holiday Inn Express breakfast which includes the cinnamon rolls. Just very disappointed especially because I used a lot of rewards points for this stay and didn’t get much of a breakfast or much of a front desk staff.

Staff friendly and accommodating, Desk clerk cheerfully escorted me back to my room to make sure my replacement entry card worked. Facility was clean but sorely needs a facelift. Breakfast adequate. Convenient to area attractions.

I have stayed here many times because it is dog friendly. The condition of the hotel is going downhill fast. The room was not cleaned properly. There was a used condom under the bed, lots of hair on the rug, and the AC/heating unit sounded like it was going to explode. It was so bad I actually turned it off. Even though I love the location I will not return until this place is remodeled and the management cares. The only plus was that the breakfast was good and plentiful.
