Portuguese explorer Vasco de Gama stopped at Malindi on his way to India in 1498 and erected a pillar that remains overlooking the harbor, however precariously, to this day. Still popular with Europeans, Malindi is famed for coral reefs that lie just 1,000 feet off its shore, best seen at Malindi National Marine Park or nearby Watamu. Game fishing, surfing and simply relaxing on the beach are popular local pastimes. The narrow streets and market of Malindi's old town are worth a visit.

Welcome to a resort where the enchanting power of nature blends in with the exotic style of the Indo-Arab buildings to offer you a mesmerizing charm, which in Swahili, is called "bembeleza". Sit in the Balinese chaise lounges on your room terrace and listen to the sound of the wind rustling the palm trees, enjoy the music of the waves and let your heart dance in silence: your Dream of total relaxation has finally come true. Chose to dine on the open air terrace or inside the air conditioned restaurant, overlooking the swimming pool or at the a la carte restaurant serving a selection of seafood menus on the beach. Endowed with a centre of Thalassotherapy, a beauty centre and a gym with spectacular view on the ocean, the Dream Spa is the ideal place for the restoration and the maintenance of global prosperity
Food was highly disappointing, buffet very cheap quality and little selection, even if you don’t use the all the inclusive restaurants but the pay-extra by the beach „Onda“, they don’t even have fresh lobster or prawns from the sea on walk-in basis. They charge extra for various things - like breakfast egg benedict which turned out to be an overcooked egg on dry toast - chef was away and sus-chef clearly didn’t know his job, however they wanted to charge 2 dollars extra for „benedict“ instead of regular breakfast eggs. At night we often suffered from very bad noise from neighbouring Sandies Dreams, too loud party music even way after 10pm (legal cut off time) into the morning hours which was really reducing the quality of holiday experience. Worst thing is the „private pool“ which Diamond advertises as luxury experience - many tiles are broken and gone, you can get seriously hurt if you don’t use water shoes and that pool should be closed and repaired urgently. We had a nice waiter however, Josphat, who made up for some of the shortcomings and is a real gem. We ended up eating outside in the nearby village despite having wasted money on all inclusive, it was just too frustrating. Daily Pool service was lazy and we had to go search for staff to bring cushions, towels or umbrellas, they didn’t come to check on guests like in other neighbourhood ressorts (we come to the coast regularly). The hve a crow plague so you really have to watch your food and belongings. All in all not worth to pay high prices for a diamond holiday - management did not even care or follow up on our problems. A pity - with better management and some maintenance investments this could be a nice place. For our stay, they made it become a frustrating experience and waste of time and money.

Lovely place! The views are amazing and situated right on the beach front ideal for catching morning sunrise views from the ocean. The rooms were very clean and they provided some good shampoo, shower gels and body lotion from Cinnabar Green natural care line which were also available for purchase from their gift shop. Everything was very clean and up to my expectations. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. Charlene was really amazing and gave us exceptional services. All staff members at the hotel were all incredible, and every single one of them went above and beyond to make sure we were looked after. The food at the restaurant was good and there was an excellent menu for buffet breakfast and dinner for our half board package. I really enjoyed my stay in this place and would 100% recommend it.

Malindi Dream Garden in Kenya is a contemporary boutique hotel nestled amongst colourful tropical gardens on the shores of Malindi Beach. The resort features 44 delighful deluxe rooms and 4 superb suites, all with private balconies looking over the beautiful garden pool. Offering bed and breakfast treatment, guests have access to 4 different restaurants, bars, spa and activities, to make holiday a unique experience and offering chance to personalize your stay choosing every day different restaurants and experiences.
Malindi Dream Garden is a beautiful hotel with close proximity to the beach and a rustic aesthetic. We first visited the hotel in 2019 and were impressed by its high regard for standards. However, our recent stay (October 2021) was disappointing: a) Our room was not good. The balcony door did not close. The AC was faulty. The TV did not work the whole time we were there. The room service was not consistent. One day, it was well done and the other, not at all. b) The all-inclusive menu was not clear. The communication between the bar tenders clearly illustrated this. We were told that the full menu was not available while it was available in the other bars. c) The buffet selection and service was wanting. Bland food, slow drink service, lack of diverse food options for vegans and vegetarians. This should be included in the all inclusive package. What is the waiter per table quota? We were served by three different waiters in one meal service which demonstrated poor planning. A general observation is that the target audience was not clear. Who is your target? How do you craft a family friendly and adult friendly experience all at once? With children out of school when we went, the lack of activities suitable for the different groups of people there made it an unfavorable experience for us as child free people. Children freely swimming without a lifeguard and also attending the beach party - what are the standards? I am not supposed to worry about other people’s children whilst I’m on holiday. Also, the distinction between Sandies Tropical, Dream Garden and Diamonds is not clear. The inconsistency of the services provided were not worth what we paid. All in all, there is a lot of room for improvement. You have a prime location, an opportunity for growth and lots of potential. Fine tune your service and menu, understand who you want to come there and the exclusivity of the services you provide.

The facilities are excellent and well maintained: you can swim in each of the four beautiful swimming pool. We were looking forward to the breakfast everyday with homemade cakes freshly baked every morning. We had also access to the facilities and excursion packages offered by the Billionaire resort and dined in at the resort’s restaurant where the food is great. The best thing however was the staff who treated us like we were part of the family while always being very professional. We will definitely come back soon, very soon!

We occupied two rooms on the ground floor near the pool; leaving area, kitchenette double bedroom and bathroom. A mouse in the kitchen, a mouse and a toad in the room; Moth dust on the tablecloth and no one cleaned, tablecloth never changed in 15 days; Sleepless nights or for the songs of the nearby mosque or for the shouting of the guests at all hours and without any rules .The room lacks the dark curtains in its Africa suitable for shielding the strong sunlight from 5 in the morning; we resorted to a sheet over the curtains. If you love all this, this is the structure for you!

The best part for us of this small villa is the upstairs verandah with all of its daybeds, sofas, cushions and lounging options. It's wonderfully calm and stylish with great staff and an Italian feel to it of course. Recommended. We'd go back for sure.

My wife and I stayed for two nights in Villa Malindi and it was excellent. A very spacious and a clean room. The garden is nicely maintained and green and surrounds a nice two pools. The Chef was preparing excellent meals which were truly enjoyed by us. So, to Alex (MD) we would like to say a big Thank you. Villa Malindi made our trip to the Kenyan coast unforgettable!

African House Resort, a jewel of its kind within the coastal region with 7 superior double rooms only featuring columns and art, sits on a very quiet and peaceful 1.5 acres. African House Resort is immersed in a beautiful tropical garden dotted with tall palms and beautiful plants. There is a special relaxing atmosphere where you will feel spoiled and enjoy the comfort and privacy of a friend's home. The African House, run by an Italian owner who has lived in Africa for many decades, stands out for its attention to detail. The resort fuses love of African culture with Italian taste and tradition.
Wonderful peaceful hotel full of exotic decor from a 20 foot (metal) giraffe in the lush garden to antique gramophones to a plush love tent. Bathrooms huge and thoughtful details like fresh flowers on the bed. Kind of a camp casbah, spotlessly clean, and really good value for money.

The guest house and the guest residence are separated by a road. The rooms are clean but cluttered (too much furniture). There is no AC but the fans work well. The windows have mesh so you can have your windows opened but mosquitos and bugs won't come in. Meals were a real let down. Our order was not only delayed but also mixed up. Very underwhelming. Breakfast is served from the kitchen and they run out of accompaniments and juices, so you are left to eat what is remaining. We had to wait for 30minutes to have accompaniments served at breakfast. The staff are not professional AT ALL! The pool had too much chlorine which affected our eyes (there was not circulating water in it to mix us the chlorine, so we were told). Overall, for a budget stay, you can keep up with the bad service. This place has great potential with the right staff.
