Attended a sports meet over a weekend in Machida (abt 30min from Shinjuku by train). Stayed in a non-smoking ladies single room at this hotel ( ladies’ beauty kit provided ). Small corner room on 4th floor but had 2 windows overlooking the lively street of Machida shopping area. Machida Station is a 2 minute walk ( East exit ). This station has the Odakyu Line to Shinjuku (30mins only) as well as other lines. I came from Haneda International Airport and it took me slightly over an hour by train to Machida station. Very easy commute. Pasmo card (stored value card, excess can be refunded at the airport at the end of trip) is highly recommended on Tokyo’s public transpor. Online booking is easy on hotel website which has English translation. Google map helped with getting to this hotel. Entrance not highly visible from main walking street in Machida, so use Google Maps. There’s hotel signage at the entrance and you have to go up elevator to 5th floor for check-in. Fast and quick process. Staff able to communicate in simple English. For more complicated issues, use Google Translate. That was a great help! You can leave your baggage at the reception if you arrive early. Check in is STRICTLY after 3pm onwards. Room is very clean and daily housekeeping is very thorough (sometimes to the point of environmental wastage ie toothbrush and other toiletries, towels, bedsheets are replenished fully when reusing them is still viable). Location is great....major malls Lumine, OIOI, Odakyu are very close by...Daiso, Tokyu Hands and Don Don Donki likewise. Walking street is just outside the hotel with MANY food points, bars, karaoke, titbit stores, small retailers and convenience shops along the bustling street. Bus interchange is 5 min away ( direct Haneda airport bus is available too ). There’s a simple breakfast served every morning...its a set meal, nothing fancy. Enjoyed my stay and the great value of this hotel.

Last year I stayed at another business hotel in the same town of Machida. I was less than impressed. This year I was staying in the same area but wanted to try some place different. I was referred to this chain by a Japanese friend. She told me that the rooms are small (probably smaller than usual) but they are clean, practical and they have breakfast where most places don't. I booked there and was prepared for a ridiculously small room. I was quite surprised! I was traveling with my husband and didn't want to make the mistake of getting a "double" bed. That was not large enough for slightly larger American couple. So we got twin beds. That was more to our liking. That also made the room a bit bigger since it needed space for both beds. The bathroom was standard module so I was prepared for that. The room was super clean. Quiet. That was wonderful. I had great nights sleep for the 3 nights I was in Machida. The staff was amazing! I had to get used to having to turn my key in every single time I left the facility but they were there 24/7 and were extremely pleasant. Booking with them can be tricky as I had to use a friend to reserve rooms for us (Booking nor TripAdvisor didn't have the option) but once I was there I was able to use my American VISA card with zero issues. Being part of a large hotel chain the rooms are consistent as well so they are practically the same around the country. Breakfast was a buffet style in the lobby with a nice variety of food that was not just Japanese. It gets busy but they move people about and are constantly cooking. I didn't have any issues getting a meal or a seat. If I had a complaint, is the free wifi. Luckily, I had a pocket wifi but I did hear that the only major drawback to their free wifi is that the signal is weak in the higher floors. Most went to the lobby to get a good signal. I was happy I had pocket wifi. I would have been out of luck. Location is AWESOME. It is just a couple blocks from the JR Station (Limited Trains coming in from Shinjuku) and a couple more if you are coming in from the local trains coming in from Yokohama. Machida is an excellent hub and the area is filled with a lot of restaurants and shops. The hotel is right at the edge of all the busyness but close enough for everything. It also helps that a 711 is right down the street so you can get last minute stuff in the middle of the night when other shops are closed!

I was booked in here for an 11 night stay, however after 2 nights I moved hotels. The rooms are typical Japanese style, small bedroom and bathroom, which is fine. The bedroom had thread bare carpet in places, the head board material had been stitched back, however the foam was still exposed and the towels smelt musty. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable, and when I asked the hotel about this the reply was 'same bed'. The bed is hard and if your taller than 5ft 8" your feet will stick out the bottom of the bed! The bathroom is small but functional, shower was hot, however having to wait a while for hot water. Also a note of caution, there is at least 1ft step up into the bathroom, which in the middle of the night you need to remember about! The hotel is advertised as English speaking - its not! Most of the check in staff can not speak English, the best you will get is a nod or grunt if your lucky! Breakfast is included.......There is a very small selection of food. Warm hot dog sausages, warm ish bacon, or cold ham, and lukewarm runny scrambled eggs. There was also chips served at breakfast which looked like they were either last nights chips or the previous days. There was also a small selection of fresh fruits, breads and two cereals. The restaurant is very tired and requires a major update and redecoration. The only good point I could find was the location to the station, which is about 5 minutes walk. The hotel in its day was potentially very good, but that was some time ago!

Located within 5 mins walk to JR Central Gate, 5/10 mins walk from Machida Bus Terminal & Odakyu Train Station. 5 Mins walk to Local Bus Station. Primarily this is a business hotel, so naturally room size is a little smaller than a mainstay hotel. I stayed in a Twin room found there to be ample space for what I required. The toilet & shower are within the same space, immaculate facilities. 24 Hour access to the hotel, reception is manned 24hrs also. Most staff can speak enough English to help with your enquires, though there are a couple which have a good command of English as they have spent time abroad. Staff were courteous & pleasant to deal with at all times. Your accomodation will need to be paid for up front as this is a business hotel. Main Credit Cards are accepted. Their website does have English translation. There is wifi in the rooms, also on the reception floor there is a microwave and kettle should you require. A small fridge is provided in the room. There is no restaurant in the hotel, but there are so many choices nearby it is not necessary. There is a great parfait shop at the top of the street, just look for the line each morning general 12/20 people wait unto 20mins before opening. A convinient hotel with facilities to suit your stay. Happy to recommend.

I always have had trouble sleeping so I appreciate the fact that I could pick up and choose extra pillows from a varied selection tucked into the pigeonholes near the reception en route to the lift lobby. I couldn't read the Japanese text, but I thought that they had pillows ranging from down to memory foam. The room was quite compact with the double bed tucked against the wall, and a small open cubby to hang your jackets and stash your shoes. The bathroom was nice and cosy, with a deep bathtub and an intelligent toilet bowl which can be programmed to heat your seat. The only thing I found lacking is a safe, or at least a laptop safe but this may be because there is very little crime in Japan. Items lost are usually returned intact. The breakfast selection might seem small to some, it was delicious. The pastries were wonderful! The staff was also very helpful with information about the area. I was in town for business and after a long day, the one thing I looked forward to was soaking in the hot waters at the onsen nearby to drain my fatigue away. The hotel has a tie-up with the onsen and entry is free for hotel guests! Yay! The experience may be a bit of culture shock for foreigners unfamiliar to Japan but a visit to the onsen is a must. Just remember to look up onsen etiquette before you do. My colleague had stepped onto the raised floor of the premises before being reminded to take off his shoes.

We stayed 2 nights at the APA Hotel in Machida. It was close to the subway and trains. It was a decent size room for Tokyo, not big but room to swing a cat (providing it had a short tail!). Front desk had very good English. We were very pleased and comfortable staying here.
