Nice view, but highly overpriced

Reviewed By Reto1961

Nice alpine hotel. But : highly overpriced. CHF 200.00 for a small room is just too much. When you enter the room there are overall signes what you are not allowed to do ( food, beverage forbidden in the room etc etc ). Restaurant was a big disappointment also. After our salad, in a bowl, very tasty, they did not change the plates nor the cutlery. I have no problem with that if I take a budget meal, but yes if I have to pay CHF 24.00 for 2 salads, and CHF 50 for 2 pasta plates. Place could be so a great one, but not with these prices and so poor service.

We stayed here at the beginning of the ski season and we were warmly welcomed by the hotel staff. The hotel is located a few minutes walk from the centre of town and its surrounding river and trees makes it feel like it is located in a more remote location with peace and quiet. All the necessary amenities are available for ski equipment. The rooms are simple yet spacious - our room had its own terrace. We will stay here again for our next visit.

Classis swiss hotel - small but cosy rooms. Very comfortable beds

Reviewed By Dan W

I stayed here with my wife for a skiing weekend. The hotel is right in the middle of Les Diablerets with all the ameneties and the new lift to Villars all within walking distance. Staff were very welcoming and the booking process (on line) was very easy. The rooms are small (at least ours was) but cosy, being wood-panelled and with balconies - although again maybe not all of them. The rooms seem well insulated and you can access them without walking through the restaurant every time.

This is a place we really don’t want to write a review about, ‘cause we want to keep it for ourselves. The authentic Chalet is beautifully situated right between Montreux and Gstaad (both only 30 minutes by car) and has a breathtaking view over the Diablerets mountains. There are restaurants in walking distance. The chalet is very cosy and is run by Evelyne, who is a wonderful host. She”ll help you plan your daytrips and serves a lovely fresh breakfast. We will definitely be back!

Perfect Stay

We found the hotel last minute, through booking.com, but renting a room through the website of the hotel itself was a lot cheaper. Our room (we were upgraded to room #4), was very beautiful and spacious. It's recently renovated and even though it was midsummer and >30°C degrees outside, the room stayed fresh all day, without an airconditioner. Hotel is close to the road, but we slept perfectly with the windows open. Breakfast was not very varied, but healthy enough and very tasty. Owners were extremely helpful, and even offered to pick us up when we missed the bus back from one of the mountain gondolas. Restaurant is very good, we recommend the steak (horse) and the 'digestive' section at the end of the menu. The local bitter was great.

Do not stay at this rip off hotel

Awful hotel. On arrival met by sour faced owners who watch your every move, and micro manage their staff, so painful to watch. Paid 200 CHF a night for a 'superior' room (they make up the prices - had no correlation to what I had already reserved). A 'superior' means you have a balcony looking on to the main road and are kept up by traffic and people shouting all night Wiring - hardly any sockets and very dodgy wiring system in room - not safe bathroom - constant noise of flushing water Wardrobe - smelled really musty could not hang clothes in there Single beds - it was advertised as a double twin. What it really is, is 2 camp beds pushed together - I had terrible back pain throughout my stay. The single beds are so small even a child would struggle Breakfast - extremely basic, the only saving grace was a coffee machine, the rest tastes like its from a petrol station Parking - 'free parking' but only room for 10 cars. need to park far away, lug bags, ski stuff Bar - had wanted a nice après ski hot chocolate or beer, bar is dead and dark, what a missed trick. The tightness of the owners of this hotel and the unpleasantness in which they deliver it beggars belief. Any joy or customer service has long since left this place. I feel sorry for them that at some point they lost their purpose, as this hotel is truly awful. The coldness is felt from top down. This hotel is stuck in a time warp and needs a complete overhaul and management change. it completely ruined my holiday.

Definetly not a good experience.

We didn't have a good experience in this place. We booked the top floor with two bedroom with another couple through BNB (bed & breakfast) web page. On it the host offers the room with a "breakfast buffet". When we get there, she told us that he didn't offer breakfast anymore. We complained about it, but finally we had to get our breakfast outside. Be carefull also with the transferesces and the comissions. We paid them on our bank while doing a tranfer to book the place, but she also made us to pay another comission that we still don't understand. Not going to return to this place.
