Amid a patchwork of sandy Mediterranean beaches, salt marshes, and flamingo-filled coastal lagoons, the water-locked town of Le Grau-du-Roi serves as a scenic gateway to the Camargue. In the town itself, visitors head to the palm-fringed fishing port, where cafés and restaurants line the waterfront.

In the Camargue at the border of the Mediterranean in its picturesque Le Grau du Roi and the largest marina in Europe Port Camargue You will find the Splendid Hotel Camargue. Ideally located on the beach while staying in the city center. All the sea view rooms have a balcony.
The Splendid hotel is ideally located on the seafront. Rooms have a balcony from where one can enjoy the view of the sea and the boats entering the harbour. They are nice, modern and clean. Since there is very little traffic allowed along the seaside, it is very quiet and one can sleep with the window open. The restaurant is operated separately and offers excellent menu's at attractive prices.

We are disappointed and saddened to write this review because we had been so looking forward to our weeks holiday at this hotel for over 6 months however what we found when we arrived (having driven from the UK) was not what we had booked, and the customer service in response to this was woeful. The main hotel does look charming as their website and Instagram suggests however we had booked a duplex room with garden terrace (confirmed by email over 6 months prior to arival) however sadly what we were given on arrival was a duplex room with a patio overlooking the car park/entrance driveway and which had two large extractor fans that whirrs out very hot air 24 hours a day, and which leaked water, making it completely unusable as a patio area, and only useful for drying clothes (see image). When we raised this with the manager on arrival we did not receive an apology, and she suggested this was caused not because of their poor customer service but because they had found a mistake on their website (our booking clearly stated we had booked a garden terrace room) and that having found the mistake they had updated their French website (but not the English one?); she said she was full so could not change our room and that we could either cancel our booking there and then (impossible for 1 week in the south of France in August, especially during a pandemic) or she would give us a discount which she would have to think about. When we asked why we were not emailed of this in advance when they discovered the problem, as would be courteous when they realised the error on their website we did not get a response. The result of their error in giving us the wrong room being that we could not sit outside the room at all as it was very unpleasant, hot, noisy and overlooked and so instead of enjoying our holiday outside each evening, instead every evening of our holiday was compromised and we all had to sit inside when the kids went to bed. We understand that their French website simply now reads you may be given a garden or a patio terrace, but it still makes no mention of the car park view nor the noisy/hot extractor fans which is unacceptable; and to charge the same price for both types of duplex room is truly shocking. The two rooms should be marketed separately. We did not receive the room we booked and having waited so long to visit for a weeks family holiday this was beyond disappointing, as was the hotels response. The small discount we received plus a free breakfast was not sufficient as to cover the negatives of the poor quality room and their response to their own error. The duplex room also had a wooden floor mezzanine so every time the children moved in their beds during the night the beds moved across the floor waking those sleeping downstairs, a rug on this wooden floor could easily stop this noise. Needless to say the hotels customer service was poor in response to this situation and also poor generally at breakfast which was under staffed as was the reception, and the hotel overall does not live up to the high room rates they charge. However our one shining star of our stay was Aziz who worked at the bar, who was the best staff member and made a really big effort to assist us with queries and gave the best service. In terms of recommendations, the hotel is not near other restaurants so we eat at the restaurant in the hotel several times and the main menu was good as was the kids meal, however the gypsy night menu was too limited and the fish dish over cooked; the gypsy musicians were good. There is a great bakery for pastries at the Trident centre only 3 minutes walk from the hotel where you can also find a small Super U for provisions. Otherwise it is a good 20 Minute walk to restaurants at port Camargue or a car drive to Grau du Roi. The best local beach bar (beds, food, drinks and service) is L’Oyat Eco at L’Espiguette but it doesn’t take reservations so you have to get there early (arrive by 9.30am). Overall this hotel is not living up to his promised offering, and needs to improve its customer service, and room no1 needs a makeover.

Located 4 km from the centre of Le Grau du Roi looking across to the largest beach in the Camargue. The hotel features a restaurant and bar with panoramic views, meeting rooms, beauty salon, a shop and direct access to the thalassotherapy institute. A charge applies to access the fitness area after 6 p.m.
Invited by friends, we enjoyed our stay, nice room and small bathroom, the pool is shared with another building, the beach is nice but the restaurant is a bit expensive, to use the hammam you had to pay extra , plan a sweater for dinner in the restaurant because the air conditioning is much too strong and the staff can not handle it, but beautiful panoramic view, relatively high price overall

I just want to highlight that the owner’s wife is very rude, intentionally mean and unprofessional. If you go there, please avoid being around her. I’ve never seen such a bad person. She doesn’t know how to talk to people or behave. She’s rude to both her staff and customers. To avoid!

Disappointing. A cold welcome. Everywhere we work hotels are trying there best to let us eat breakfast and dinner (take-away) properly, still following the coronarules. In Mulhouse, Marseille and Paris the hotel organised a corner with tabel and chairs. Not here, we had to eat on our bed in a very simple andsmall (but expensive) room. And no flexibilty when we wanted to stay one hour longer to work. We were chased out of the room at 11.00 while the hotel was almost empty

To start with the room was number 14.Everything could have been better, very small room with a sort of small cabin in one corner which was the bathroom/toilet,with a ventilation system that did not work,a carpet that had seen better days, one of the beds with a hole in the middle.I had booked a room for 2 adults and one child,we got a 4 sleeper room(and paid for 4)..109 euros per night!the promised air conditioning was OK but the remote to work it had no instructions and all the buttons were worn out so you didn't know what you were doing.7 euros for breakfast which consisted of 1/4 baguette of bread,1 croissant a bit of jam and butter, tea or coffee and orange juice that was from a machine,a complete waste of money. All the people in the neighbouring rooms could have been in the same room, the walls had no soundproofing at all
