Thon Hotel Kristiansund opened November 1 2009. The hotel is beautifully located across the bay from Kristiansund city centre. The hotel is placed among galleries, cafés and restaurants. The hotel is placed right by the seaside in Kristiansund, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or a meal in open air in the summer. The hotel restaurant serves lunch and dinner. On the menu you will find local food and ingredients. The hotel has have two conference halls. Maximum capacity in the largest hall is 280 people. Wireless Internet access throughout the hotel. The hotel is located in an area with high growth, with cafés, restaurants and art galleries as next door neighbors. Kristiansund and the surrounding area offers a multitude of exiting activities. Visit the old fishing village on the island Grip or explore the wild Atlantic scenery and the areas coastal history. Kristiansund is ideally located for a tour on the magnificent Atlantic Road (Atlanterhavsveien.) The Atlantic Road winds its way along the coast between Kristiansund and Molde. All the staff was very polite, the room was clean and like the pictures. There is a great view, especially at sundet, from the breakfast room and a large selection of food. We had a room right on the sea which had a fantastic view at sunrise.

Gjestehuset AS,is a small and cosy guesthouse, located in middle of Kristiansund. With walking distance to most restaurants and Cultural attractions.
The first thing the guests should know is that the hotel is located on the third floor of the Burger King that makes it easier to find and has no elevators or service personnel. You should not book this hotel if you will have problems carrying your luggage to the third floor. Also, you need a phone to get the entry code, unless you get it in advance. Other than this it was a nice and clean (a bit tight for North Americans) place and conveniently located next to the shops, restaurants and parking that was free between 19:00 and 9:00. Has bathroom heater and 3 windows that makes the room very bright.

Overall no issues with the hotel. Room was clean, big, didn't have tea / coffee facilities, which would have been a nice have. Staff helpful, restaurant was good, meal was good. Location for town, central. Stay again, yes...

Traveling with a colleague who booked via Hotels.com. Now, most hotels want you to book directly via their website, and the incentives should be accordingly. However, my friend is staying in the new section on the 6th floor with an Ocean view, while I am staying on the 3rd floor, in the older rooms, staring into a grey building. Tried to bring this up (with a smile) in reception and got told some people prefer these rooms bc of ‘larger bathrooms’. Well, that is hard to believe. This old room with no view at 2100 NOK is horrendous value.

Terrible stay here, the Disco is loud and you hear it clearly through the walls. Asked for a quiet room, but the room was noisy. The disco runs until 2am 5-6 days a week... stay away if you care about sleep.

Stranded in Kristiansund for 5 days (in April 2020) after a job offshore during the Covid pandemic, the Atlanten Turistsenter was our only option to me and my colleagues. Due to the weather conditions (snow and hail storms and heavy rain) and also due to the fact we had no car, we had no other choice than to stay inside. I'll go straight to the point... Avoid it all all costs. For further details read below. - I know it was during the pandemic, but still,... knowing that clients had to come, nobody was waiting for us at the reception. Nobody was answering the phone nor to the bell at the entrance of the reception building. We had to wait for 15min in a freezing and windy weather that some kind of worker of the place opens us the reception. And we were not the only clients apparently in this Motel. - Once inside the reception, we just asked for 4 keys as we were 4 people and we get them. They never checked our ID, nor if we were in order of payment,... Anyway, we had 4 double bedrooms. - I can understand they might have some problems to fill their facilities with clients at the moment with Covid, but come on… Covid really started to mess up the world at the end of February or in early March and not in April 2019. Why do I mention this date of April 2019? Simple... On the door of the shared kitchen it is mentioned that "All Food which is not labelled with name and date will be thrown away every Monday" (see picture)... I can assure you that no check has been done since April...2019 (1 year ago!!!) when I look at the "best before" date of some of the products inside the freezer! And by the look of the installation I would not advise to even taste them, as you never know they might have had some power cuts. (see pictures). - I do not even guarantee they clean their installation by the look of some of the things we have found. Somebody seems to have been a bit sick (a long while ago) by one of the halogen lamps of the shared living room. (see picture) Simply disgusting. - The shared kitchen has got some basic appliances (kettle, pans, casseroles, microwave, 1 oven, 4 stoves, 1 coffee machine) but be aware... Nothing is clean. Previous users never cleaned them. There were many "bacteriologic weapons" growing in some of them (as we needed that to top the Covid pandemic). It took a while to get rid off the nasty stuff there was in the pans,... as we had to use some of them to cook our food. (the appliance is now cleaner than what it was when went there). - I would be extremely careful to where you store your food on regard of the different places where we spotted pest poison granules box. - the bedrooms now: ---- The biggest and nastiest surprise was coming from one of our bedrooms... How on Earth is it possible for the staff to have missed this smelly rotten sent coming from that room while arranging the room for us? The door was only just opened there was this very awful and nasty smell all over the corridor and nearby bedrooms and travelling up to the kitchen 25-30m away! The origin of this smell? There was a very very old box of vanilla ice cream BELOW the bed. (see picture). God only knows for how long it was there to smell like that! It is SHAMEFUL! ---- Not sure that to have an ELECTRIC heater in the bathrooms, just 1m-1.5m away from the shower is very safe. ---- You might have to bring your own squeegee to wipe out the water of the shower in the bathroom as they are simply useless. Indeed, you need to use a squeegee after each use of the shower to avoid any falls and slips as it seems the floor was not designed in the first place for the evacuation of water. ---- the equipment of the bedroom seems to be very fragile, ready to break at any moment. (even IKEA look super strong compared to the bedroom equipment) ---- the DOUBLE bedroom barely have room for your luggage. You need to jump over your luggage to get access to the other side of the bed or to get access to the window. ---- The people who installed the TV in the bedrooms had to think the rooms would be equipped only with bunk beds. Indeed, It's impossible to watch the TV from your bed, you need to stand up to watch the TV as the TV is tilted in the wrong direction and it's not possible to change it. The guy who installed the TV might have screwed the stand in the other way round on the wall. - In the last 3 days of our stay (out of 5), there was no longer heating in the kitchen and living room (the most comfy place), it was really cold. When we finally managed to see the possible manager of the place, they said they would send somebody ASAP to fix the issue, but it never happened. - I really hope they have a good insurance when you see the outdoor electric installation. There is water in every single bulbs of their patio outside the accommodations. (see pictures). A real danger for future customers who will want to spend some time outside in the better days. A minimum of cleaning and of checks should really be done by the staff! And if you don't have a car, forget this place, it's far from everything. the closest supermarket is 15-20min walk minimum. I'll finish by the very few good points: sofas in the shared living room are very comfy, dining tables are ok, the Wi-Fi is good, the bedrooms (only) are well heated and the beds are also very comfy.

We chose this instead of staying in the city and just loved it! Our room was dark wood inside with a lovely view of the water from our porch. Very romantic! There was a convenient laundry facility. A nice amphitheater is on the property and would love to see a concert here someday!

This place was gold! Owner was so nice and he helped us so much. We didin't have place to go and all the other hotells were full. They had only one room left and that room were one person room. He gave that room for us even there was tree of us. He put one extra bed there so we all could sleep in that tiny room. It was cheap and clean place and there was also beautiful garden. Thanks for that lovely owner and we slept so well!!
