In 1715, margrave Karl III Wilhelm decided he needed more space than he had in Durlach, so he moved his capital to Karlsruhe and had it designed in circular spokes around his new palace. Because of its unique radial shape, Karlsruhe is sometimes called the “fan city.” Home to Germany’s most important federal courts, the city accordingly teems with civil servants. Karlsruhe Schloss (castle) was badly damaged in World War II, but was rebuilt and is now home to the Badisches Landesmuseum.

Good news: We are renovating our rooms! The Novotel Karlsruhe Kongress offers a perfect inner city location with direct access to the convention centre and close to the main railway station and exhibition centre. With good transport connections to Stuttgart and Frankfurt airports, this 4 starhotel is ideal for business trips and city jaunts. 246 elegant rooms, ten bright meeting rooms, two bars, a restaurant and a wellness area with sauna, steam bath and fitness equipment make this hotel ideal for your next conference or revitalising break.
We stayed here for 1 night (on a long car trip) and liked our room (nr. 365, I believe it's an executive room): quiet, spacious, the 2 comfortable beds could be separated, full minibar (for free), very reasonable weekend rates. In our room the WiFi/WLAN worked fine. Underground car park. Easy walking distance to the city centre. Unfortunately we noticed that all rooms are getting modernized very soon (pictures of the new design were on display in the elevator), meaning that the bathtubs will go, it looks like "shower only": that's really a shame, because I like a bathtub much better than a shower. A new look is not always better or more comfortable, not in this case, by the looks of it! If there is no (guaranteed) bathtub next time, I'm not coming back!

Opened in 2009, the ibis Karlsruhe Hauptbahnhof is centrally located in a historical listed building and has 139 rooms with Internet access. Internet access at the iPoint is free. We will be happy to inform you about leisure activities in and around Karlsruhe at reception, which is staffed around the clock. The hotel also has its own car park and a pleasant patio. Start the day with a hearty breakfast, served from 4am to 12 midday. Snacks and drinks are available at any time of the day or night.
Nice Bed and Breakfast in a good location next to the Central Station. Unfortunately the Internet was not working suddenly in the room and I had to come to the lobby to work because it was something I had to send immediately. Breakfast was ok and the people very smiley and always helpful.

It's an OK hotel - they started to modernize public areas. We had a number of events here - and already booked the next ones, so it's really OK. Why three stars only? It's seen its best times, kinda dated - and we really had some awkward service issues here, multiple times. Last time, I wanted to check out the group (we were 20+ for our make-over-event Princess for one day). I was advised that they already charged the credit card on hold and had mailed the bill. Later, they charged me and said the bill was never paid. As we travel in three Mercedes vans (9 seaters), I had a bunch of people with me who all witnessed the situation. Still, the hotel behaves as if it was me who left the hotel without paying my bill. Not very nice, so make sure this does not happen to you when checking out.

We were a group of students in a cultural exchange with the local university. The breakfast is amazing but the rooms were less and treatment. We had a small room for two that didn’t have a good flow of water in the shower. Our bed was in front of window that didn’t have blinds so we had to wake up as soon as the sun came out. And another girl from our group had a broken door and she found it open one day because the lock was damaged. They couldn’t fix it and didn’t have replacement room for neither of us. So in the end she and her roommates had to sleep in an open room for two days. And let’s not talk about the rooms with see through shower. Plus we sat at the lobby one evening talking there was also another group of people talking there same as us. And the receptionist with the red hair came to us with a patronizing attitude and said “people are sleeping, you can talk but you can’t hahaha, okay!?” That wasn’t a nice experience for any of us and mind you we weren’t that loud and we cleaned after us. My recommendation get another hotel and don’t go to aviva(because anyway it 40 min walk from the city).

An enjoyable find. Nice, quiet location in forested hills in a small town, close to Karlsruhe. Comfortable rooms and facilities makke Villa Hammerschmiede a nice destination for a relaxing escape or extended stay. The restaurant serves excellent food, even from a limited menu on a Monday evening. Definitely a destrination that is worth a stopover.

Plus: + Value for money as such but largely depending on what deal one can make. + Reception - friendly and efficient. + City Center + Public transport (with a trade off - see under minus) + Breakfast OK but just + Bar service - coffee service excellent + Room very good equipped + Clean + Excellent but expensive garage-parking. Minus: - The Airconditioning is a bad joke! Does not work but they offer you a (good working) ventilator instead! - Avoid if possible the rooms at the frontside corner. A continuous flow of traffic and loud Trams are passing. It’s impossible to open a window without running the risk of hearing damage!
