Barú Playa Eco Beach Resort, is a new concept of ecologic tourism on the beach, located at the National Park Corales del Rosario in Baru, Colombia. We are 60 minutes away from Cartagena by boat and 90 minutes by car. The hotel has 200 meters of white sand beach and crystalline sea (most of the time), surrounded by mangroves in a natural environment; crowd free and no sellers. We have two main houses , one has 4 King Suites, another has 4 Superior Rooms and an independent cabin with a Junior Suite. In total we have 9 confortable rooms, full of magic and only 20 steps away from the beach. All rooms have private bathroom, airconditioning, fan, WiFi, closet, DirecTv, minibar, safebox and amenities.
Amazing and beautiful beach… far for everywhere … calm and relax I went with my family … quiet .. relax .. amenities .. good food… 1 hour from the centre of Cartagena and 15 more minutes in a small boat … actually you can see the mangrove ecosystem.

Hotel Playa Manglares Isla Baru offers confortable and exclusive beachfront accommodation in Baru Island. With a calm, private beach on Barabacoa´s Bay and only five rooms, this small and cozy bed and breakfast is known for its warm welcoming, delicious farm to table cooking, and tailored hosting by the owners. Baru Island is the ideal place for complementing your stay in Cartagena with an enchanting rural touch. Located one hour away from Cartagena's international airport, the area is popular for snorkeling in the Rosario Island's coral reefs and hiking in the nearby exotic Bird Sanctuary.
We stayed at this family owned hotel on May 23-25, 2022. We had a lovely stay. The hosts were very friendly and we had no issue with wifi. The breakfasts were pretty good and the rest of the meals are served family style. Kudos to the cook and staff as they were very tasty and reasonably priced. The place is small, has about 5 rooms/huts and it is right on the beach. You can actually hear/see the ocean as you have your meals. The hotel doesn't have a pool, but it is right on the beach. You can definitely swim in the beach and the ocean is quite warm. The place is quite rustic, it had an open/enclosed shower which we loved, as you get to see the trees while you shower. As it is rustic, it has a lovely charm and yes mosquitoes. The beds have netting though and it is very clean and well maintained. The only drawback to this place is that it didn't have AC, however they do have fans. As Canadians, we melted in the heat at night, but we still had a great time. It is in a quiet area, close to Playa Blanca in Baru, about a 15 mins taxi ride. We loved our host and enjoyed our stay. If you are looking for a something quiet, with charm and away from the chaos and party life of Playa Blanca, but close enough to it, then this place is just the thing.

Spent two nights here. Friendly and helpful staff, good food and simple but clean cabanas and absolutely stunning surroundings. You can rent kayaks or go on snorkeling or just enjoy the pace and quiet. Highly recommend.

This host and his thatched roof hostel on the beach were what made our trip to Playa Blanco an enjoyable day trip. He partners with another hostel in Cartagena and takes you to his hostel on the beach by boat once you take the shuttle there and it is in a much less crowded and tourist part of the beach. He was genuinely kind and not trying to take advantage like many owners in Colombia and he spoke great English and was very friendly to everyone. We were able to use his lounge pieces at no cost and we ordered drinks and food from him on a tab all day which we paid for at the end of the afternoon. The beach was an experience and has only been open to the public for 3 years so is still very authentic to the village surrounding it and Uber is a local to the area and knows everyone. My group and I agreed we wouldn't have had nearly the fun experience and felt as comfortable if we had not had Uber's gracious hosting and tips as well as a sweet location. If you go to Playa Blanco for the day, I definitely recommend getting the shuttle through Mamallena hostel in Cartagena and utilizing the connection with this awesome local hostel with plenty of character and a friendly host.

Loved the Wizard so much. Colorful, affordable, great beach front. We actually found it because we first took a bed next door (with yellow sun beds) and the prices were OUTRAGEOUS. We migrated to the wizard and could get 4 drinks for the same price and one next door. The vibe was so happy and relaxed, the bartender was cool and the food was really good ! FORGET THE OTHER PLACES IN BARÚ this is the spot! Thank you for saving the day in BARÚ

So many issues with this place. Overbearing housekeepers, dogs up all night fighting and barking outside your room, and an owner that openly yells and micromanages staff in front of guests. The area and beach is amazing, so it is worth a visit, but we won’t stay at this specific hotel again. There are just too many other options out there to put up with nonsense. This place needs to treat guests better, period!

They deceived me renting me a room near the night power motor. I could not sleep at all. When I asked them to refund the other nights I had payed they refused. Do not come. The motor works all night and does not let you sleep or enjoy the sea sound. Horrible experience.

My girlfriend and I loved our 1 night stay here. It was just the two of us staying at the hostel which probably made it even more tranquil. The accommodation is basic and it was at times challenging sleeping under a mosquito net, in the heat, without air conditioning or a fan, but we enjoyed the simple life for one night. The guy who worked at the hostel was extremely helpful and made sure we were happy at all times. He didn’t speak much English but we all patiently communicated through Google Translate. He arranged for our boat trip back to Cartagena. The toilet and showers were basic but were far nicer than others I found on Playa Blanca.

Fui pa aca pa comer y descansarme en la playa. Me mientieron sobre los precios y me enganaron. Stopped here to rest and eat. They lied to me about the prices and refused to give me money back. Must avoid!

NO recomiendo este lugar. El trato a las personas es INADECUADO, lo que genera una muy MALA experiencia. La peor experiencia debido a la MALA ATENCIÓN al cliente, así como condiciones del lugar DEFICIENTES, no volveré nunca.
