One mile from Haputale town, in the Uva Province, are the Kelburne Mountain View Cottages, nestled in the midst of a tea estate. Perched at the edge of a cliff, 5,000 feet above sea-level, the cottages overlook five provinces: the Eastern, the Southern, the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and the Uva. Kelburne Mountain View features three cottages: Aerie, Wildflower, and Rose. Sitting on the terrace of our colonial-style cottages, you will marvel at the vista that spreads before you. The rolling hills and valleys below will make you feel as if you are soaring through the sky like a Kite gliding on the wind currents. Come to where time stands still. Stay at Kelburne Mountain View.
We were introduced to Kelburne by a friend. It is a lovely place to stay with world beating views. We were a party of five and stayed in Wildflower cottage for two nights. It was a perfect base to visit the Dambatenne tea factory and Lipton’s seat and a good stop-off on the way to Nuwara Eliya. Ravi looked after us very well indeed. We had a blazing fire in the evening and dinner was served to us in the cottage. The finishing touch to the dinner table were the napkins folded into the shape of peacocks. The first night we ate a western style dinner and the second night Sri Lankan. Both were very good indeed, full marks to the chef! We would definitely come here again.

Situated in middle of the Glenanore tea estate, 3 km away from haputale Town, 500m for well known Adisham banglow, meny working trail starts from here,
A friend living in Kandy recommended Haputale over Ella for a quiet and peaceful place to stay and she was right. Nilowin is a short walk from Adisham Monastery and gardens, a nature reserve and there are beautiful walks in the tea plantation opposite. The staff are friendly and very helpful and the food excellent. I was sorry to leave.

The family hosted me with great kindness, helpful advice, and delicious food. They home has spectacular views. I was only going to stay one night but ended up staying 3 because it was so relaxing and there was so much to see. The home is in a great spot close to an old monestary, Stupa, and great 7km hike through the jungle where you can hike without any tourists and see monkeys. The Diyaluma Falls are an easy bus ride away. Definitely recommend staying here!

Very nice hotel in Haputale. The city itself had a much more relaxed vibe than nearby Ella. The room was clean and dry, and the view outside my window was breathtaking. The hotel organized a tuk tuk driver for the day who was excellent. the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Good dinner and breakfast, and excellent tea. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone planning a trip to Haputale.

eSKPe to Blackwood is a nature lover's paradise set amongst the organic Blackwood tea estate which prides itself with over 100 years in tradition and history. Boasting 5 beautiful modern bedrooms with ensuite walk in showers and all luxury amenities, this is true hill country living with a touch of luxury. The property is within close proximity to Ella, Diyaluma falls, Horton Plains and Bambarakanda, the highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. Nested between resident wildlife including over 30 species of birds, eSKPE is a tranquil hideaway.
Eskape Blackwood, named after the founder, is a travel treasure with charming comfortable rooms and a staff that goes the extra mile at every turn. This includes a tea-time style greeting/check-in in their cozy lounge, drinks by an outdoor fire on the patio, and delicious meals served by attentive staff. Even the founder's daughter/grand-daugther(?) took time to chat with us one night and tell the history of this beautiful guest house, which includes a tiny active bird nest tucked into one of the original beams of the main hall. ... An added treat was being asked to plant a tree on the flowered and waterfalled grounds as a reminder of our stay and hopes to return. A wonderful 2-night experience.

We booked this backpackers hostel on booking.com because of the reasonable price and photos that were advertised on booking.com. We came here after a 7 hour journey and once we saw the place it was not like what it had advertised on booking.com. The photos were misleading and deceiving to say the least, the room we got was below basic and had a sour smell similar to when clothes are improperly dried. The bathroom didnt have hot water either. Thankfully we stayed here only for one night and left the following day since this place had nothing special to offer. The room we got didn't have a veranda or balcony nor a proper view, unlike the fake photos they have advertised on booking.com. This place is run by a family who just by my assumption and judgment like having "white people" around because it's like a big thing for them. The two brothers who run the business are unfriendly, weird and one of them is shady as well since he was asking me all sorts of unnecessary questions like where are going to stay next and bragging about the uniqueness of the service they provide and etc. Trust me it was nothing special, not good and below basic. This is an ideal place for cheap backpackers and those cheap workaway's who will basically anywhere. Don't expect luxury from here. Also the place is super far from the centre and not the advertised distance on booking.com. For a place thats super far, up a hill and the fact there aren't any good views, thats just a massive disappointment. There are better places closer to the centre, with better views, better service, most importantly better and clean rooms.

Olympus Plaza Hotel, A soul searching experience built on a hillock surrounded by lush green mountains grazed with tea plantations, the serenity, the ambiance, the enchantment, a true setting just for you.
Situated on top of a hill approximately 800 mt above sea level the views are spectacular ( rolling mist may block this). This is the best feature of the hotel, it’s looking a bit tired, a bit of a mid match in the bar/ billiard/ youth room! Restaurant felt rather dark and dingy and the pan pipe music didn’t help! The food - was really good! Bedroom was basic compared with all the other hotels we have stayed at in Sri Lanka.

Thank you Mrs Pushba for your humble and authentic hospitality. I am keeping a dear memory of my 3 days with you. Fellow travellers if you are after a Haputale guesthouse with character, history and undeniable charm, I would recommend a couple of days at Amarasinghe guesthouse. I loved the understated style, comfort and brightness of the new rooms. The centre is a 15 min walk away uphill going trough the neighbouring houses and giving way to a grander view of the Valley. The 5:00 am ride to Lipton seat is a must! Unforgettable memory. After reaching the top i walked down to the tea factory and took a local bus to reach the centre - tuk Tuk ride straight back to the guesthouse is also an option. Being welcomed back by Mrs Pushba gentle smile and yummy breakfast completed this memorable experience perfectly well :-) As for the meals, solely breakfast is served at the guesthouse, though the owners run a cute little cafe called ‘Lettuce and Cabbage’ in Haputale town, right next to the train station and which terrace overlooks the city. Lovely spot, warm service and good food is provided. Thank you once again! Happy travels, Aurélie
